Great piece. Each time I turn a game on and see 2 walk ons playing meaningful minutes together in an ACC league game I'm reminded how barren the field has gotten; which at that point I promptly turn the game off.
I think that Logan would benefit from going to the Colts. Would he ever replace Luck there? No, but he could spend part of his rookie contract learning from Luck and then become trade bait after a couple years like Cousins likely will become for the Redskins this next year. Luck has many of the same tangibles (Big, surprisingly agile, able to throw outside the pocket) that Logan does and would hopefully help Logan develop the passing aspect of his game.
Having seen so many stupid comments on this and other websites, most to the effect that the HC shouldn't have to ask, you should just give, this post is a breath of fresh air.
Very few people who give to charity just write a check because.
They want to see that the money is being used for specific purposes. When someone asks me to donate, I ask them about the breakdown in their spend. Admin %, general overall spend and what it accomplishes, and specific (temporary) initiatives that this money might be used for. Charities that aren't interested enough to answer those three things at a high level have no chance to get money that I have to work hard for and that competes with family and other charitable uses. I don't have enough money to give it away cheaply. Mostly because it tells me that they hire people or get "free labor" and then don't bother to educate them on the mission and why the donations matter. That is not an effective organizational strategy and engages my imagination to wonder what other nonsense must be going on inside of that charity.
Anyway. Enough. Hope someone gets my point. I think it is aligned with that of this poster.
People who have money are usually much worse than I am in terms of diligence. People who set the bar lower than I do often are in and out of funds to give for a reason. JMHO
I agree. I don't know what it is, but even the slightest touch by someone else's fingers makes it feel so much easier. It might be a mental thing, but that's how it's always seemed to me.
I think 8-4 or better is a success for this season. New QB is going to make things difficult/interesting. There will be some bumps, and I wouldn't be surprised at 7-5 at all.

Our half-court offense is hilariously bad. Just watch the "movement" off the ball. It's one guy with the ball, one guy running across the baseline and 3 guys standing around watching what's going on. When our post guys get the ball nobody is cutting to the basket, so they're forced to try to make a play on their own. And Cadarian has gotten worse this year, so we have even less of an offensive threat inside.
Why the Lions? Matt Stafford and all of his bad habits haven't improved the last three seasons. He may manage to throw for 5000 yards but most of that is the threat of Calvin Johnson to throw to. He still throws way to many picks and cant run a red zone offense to save himself. I would worry that the new coaching staff coming in wouldn't be able to improve on Logan's deficiencies and he would fade into career backup forever.

Sad but true. Firing right, timing wrong. That might have been the biggest mistake of Weaver's career. Only just topping moving our home games with ECU to Panther Stadium, and Boise to FedEx.
The firing of Seth was not the problem (although getting the recruits that he got in Blacksburg is nothing short of a miracle) it was the fact that we did it a month after the season was over which left us with no options. Does anyone actually think JJ would have even been top 10 on our list if we had done this right after the season? Coaches that were hired at other programs that year: Frank Martin (USCe), Danny Manning (Tulsa), Joe Dooley (hired this year to Florida Gulf Coast), Larry Brown (SMU).
I can see how someone would argue that Larry Brown is too old, but how about those other three? Do any of those schools have better basketball programs than us (and ours isn't very good, but none of these schools are that good either). This one's on Weaver and it's one of the biggest reasons I was anti-Weaver during the end of his tenure.

I agree, even with the hiring of Jay Gruden, just look at the one weakness that the Cincinnati Bengals had on their offense, and that was Andy Dalton's failure to develop and improve. He hasn't proven he can develop a QB which is why I am worried about what we will see from RGThreesus over the next few seasons as well. Thomas would be third fiddle and would definitely not develop the skills he still needs.

Manziel will be gone by the 4th pick. The Browns will draft him, they might even move up to take him. They have 2 1st round picks and are the only organization other than the redskins to be that dumb to believe Houston would take him at 1
I am pretty sure that football funds all of the other programs at this point. Including men's basketball.
And I hear from them every year. I have never heard from the Hokie Club and I have worked my way up from a bronze, to silver, to gold hokie.
Am I the only one thinking that probably isn't good for an 18 year old kid's body?
