I said before the season started that regardless of how Thomas's senior season played out, Thomas was going to destroy every offseason work out opportunity. Unquestionably the biggest arm. Every NFL team that looks at the tape will see the struggles the offense had this season, and Logan's accuracy wasn't the problem.

Someone will reach for him. He'll be a day 2 pick, and I wouldn't be flabbergasted if someone gambled and took him in the late first. His stock is going nowhere but up, especially because I don't think there are many top-notch NFL arms in this draft.

This is why I love TKP.

Btw I want my $20 back...or Popeye's.

I never really thought about how much Hokies Respect clashed with Stick It In until you pointed it out. However, I would be in favor of bringing back Stick It In AND keeping Hokies Respect. To me, sportsmanship is underrated and under appreciated. I encourage players (and fans) to be competitive but I want them to do it in an honorable way. I don't think saying "stick it in" when our offense is in the red zone is as offensive or disrespectful as singing "hey hey hey goodbye" so I would argue that it could still work in conjunction with Hokies Respect. I would much rather players play nasty hard nosed (but clean) football for the duration of a play...but when that whistle blows it actually warms my heart when opposing players help each other off the turf. It's a sign of respect and I'm a fan of that. I don't see any problem with reinforcing that.

I'll let you know when I have collected enough.

I think I understand your point of view. The trophy case's presence is jinxing our ability to get the trophy. That's superstitious, and superstition is huge in sports..especially football. I disagree.

I think the trophy case symbolizes a goal. It says "Hey, we might just be a small school in the mountains with not a whole lot of tradition, but we have an achievable goal of getting a national title!" That is a very real possibility for us, which is a big deal considering we're not one of the 'powerhouse' programs that you see typically in contention for the trophy. Frank Beamer put VT on the map and we don't have anywhere near the resources that the power programs have. I still believe that VT will one day achieve that goal. I would love to see it happen before Beamer is gone, although I do have my doubts. Still, he has done a great job building the foundation and I'll bet that the next AD will be able to put somebody else in position to get there.

That being said, I don't agree with your opinion but being as it is an opinion, and not an offensive one, I don't think it's fair for you to have been downvoted. I went ahead and evened you out.

Go Hokies!! fill that case!

How many turkey legs does it take to get a turkey leg at lane?

Never said it was a good comparison, but the one I heard the most while frequenting TSL in recent years. Some people figure that since Coach K was relatively new when he was hired then JJ will be as well if we give him enough time.

Problem is, even our generations greatest coach needed 3 years at a Duke that had just lost in the natty title game before he could get a winning season. We pretty much need to see a better turnaround than that, so while I would like to think JJ could be the Beamer of basketball, we just don't have the time in this conference to keep wallowing like this. We need to see life, and see it soon, so we really need to go out and get a coach with tournament experience and get us playing to where we likely should be playing.

actually that's really easy to explain. Their "culture" doesn't really include football because they're fair weather fans. Even a wahoo can only handle a certain amount of suck.

Edit: Oh, and midgets (I originally overlooked the half in 3.5...ironically)

You are assuming he actually made decisions. I always thought he just threw labeled darts at a board blindfolded and went with a starting lineup of which darts finished closer to the double 12, because he was different like that.

Agreed. I can only imagine how many people come at these highly ranked recruits just hammering them with questions. How many times have any of us just said something to get out of a stupid conversation with some annoying person? I know my 18 year old self would have been tossing out names of universities that may or may not exist.

Another floater from TSL. Turkey legs for cash for turkey legs huh? Noooice

Stealing all my turkey legs with your new fangled embedding!

Comparing JJ to Coach K isn't very helpful. It was a different era and Coach K is one of the three greatest coaches, ever. The fact is, JJ has no comps because no one with his lack of resume has ever been hired in the 60+ years of the ACC. No one. To further put his stamp on the ACC, JJ is about to be the first coach ever to finish 15th in the ACC.

The only realistic comp to JJ is Ricky Stokes, who had never been a HC before and was hired cheap. He went 16-15 his first year, then followed that up with a 8-19 season, 2 conference wins. Then he went 10-18 and 12-17 before finally being let go. Just to prove his VT experience wasn't an outlier, he got two years at ECU where he won 14 games. Total.

The fact is that JJ will likely get another year because a new AD won't be on site until April or later. That's too late to fire a coach, as we've found out before. JJ will get another year. Good seats will likely still be available at Cassell.
