Said virtual turkey legs are redeemable at Lane Stadium from the guy with the smoker for cash. You can then use that cash to buy more legs.
Searels is legit and has a very impressive resume. He probably did not go out of state to recruit as much in the past because he did not have to in order to get the right talent. Or, said another way, it would be a fools errand to ignore big time in-state talent to reach more broadly. I don't think this should be a worry, as Grimes proved that a good O line coach can establish new relationships and pull talent in places where he has not been in the past.

And unfortunately we don't have much of a choice in the matter currently.
You mixed LSU and UGA up. He started at LSU and then went to UGA and then promptly left UGA for Texas.
Searles doesn't work for UF, never has. He was considered the frontrunner for the UF OL job in early January and then they announced the next day that they hired Frank Summers from USC/UK.
Searles was an All American at Auburn under Neil Callaway/Pat Dye. He coached OL at UGA for a while and left for LSU where he did very well. He left LSU for UT where he was slightly less successful and was not retained when UT hired Charlie Strong to replace Mack Brown.
UF hired Mike Summers as their OL coach a couple weeks ago.

The question that the interim AD needs to ask is "do we want to kick the can down the road and lose out on a good coach and hope that the new AD can find a good one, or do we hire someone that Beamer and Loeffler want, which is the way it should be anyway?" A lot of reports from Florida suggest that Searles is a top candidate at UF, so if we play the waiting game, we could lose out on someone good.
Well, UVA didn't even offer him.
Are we really big enough to take a coach away from the vaunted Florida Gators?

Terrible analogy the ignores the unusual circumstances.
Perhaps the better way to look at it is that a kid from big 10 country had VT a solid second among a quality list of schools (including noted OL programs like Boston College and Wisconsin as well as Michigan State and about a dozen other good programs) BUT lost to a quality program which also just happens to be in his hometown, has been his favorite team since childhood, and one where his parents and friends will be able to easily see his home games (and many more away games than VT).
Do we know who recruited Kam?

Well yes butt (see what I did there)...
Sherman's press conference afterward didn't stop his foot-in-mouth disease. He celebrated on the field then with the fans, showered, probably enjoyed some more celebration, dressed-up and then continued his rant at the podium. Sure emotion was involved, but c'mon... some decorum please? His was "mediocre" at best.
Sounds good. I realize that was a lot to ask just point blank and I didnt really expect an immediate answer. Just thinking out loud.
