If Bud stays through this coming season he gets a cool 800k. That gives him an extra 200k/yr roughly and puts his comp around $671k/yr. Does he deserve a raise? Absolutely, but he's not hurting for Benjamins.
After looking at that list, all I could think of was "Bud needs a raise." Same goes for some of our assistants, though as I recall, Loeffler and Grimes are still receiving part of their salaries from Auburn, so they're not actually making $150k, it's more like $400k unless I'm mistaken.
That $1mil is the new reality, especially when you now have head coaches making as high as $8mil a year with Saban's new deal at Bama and you have football programs with these new TV deals bringing in as much as $100 mil a year.(Top 10-15 programs roughly)
USA Today shows at least four coordinators over the $1mil mark, and many more creeping towards it

I didn't realize that Coach K made almost $7.5 mil last year at Duke.
Yes Yes Yes! Some good and positive outlook here. I agree that Loeffler is pretty good at coming up with scheme's for games and this proves it. It was unfortunate that Logan went out but we have had a lot of growth from the coaching changes that I think will pay off big time in the next couple years!
Spot on, Finney Smith was out the door because his AAU coach had gotten hired at Florida, so leaving "because Greenberg was fired" was the easiest way for him to get out the door. I think JJ gets one more year, barring a complete collapse the rest of this season in the ACC. If they get the doors blown off in more games than not than he might be a casualty of the new AD wanting to be able to imprint something on VT athletics early on. I think that would take at least six double digit losses the rest of the season.
Those short listed firms are prepping their submittals.
Time to wait and see then. Seems like a positive review of Loeffler. Great Job French!
Did I miss some key rumblings on this? Is Grimes in other coaching discussions?
1) this made me spit my drink on my screen 2) fuck both of you for making me do that 3) absolutely hi-larious and 4) See what y'all did there.
Even though the broncs suck, Royal got a catch for 30. Also, not a knock on Chargers fans, I think Rivers is a douche. Btw, is Vinston Painter still on the practice squad for Denver?
Is that you Jim? Oughtta come out of your bonus given the mess the basketball team is in.

Cut the kid a break. He's doing core on a weight bench for chrissake. Can't we all start a "Logan needs some real ab equipment" fund?
I'm pretty sure he's done at VT. Already had degree so not enrolled for spring. Usually agent or the agent's agency fronts money for things like this before the draft.
I think the random quotes might be better suited in a more prominant position. Centered across the top or bottom, centered. I know they're orange, but the effect may get lost in the "list". Just instant opinion, not really thought out heavily. Oh...and Paul Johnson's quote is missing a ".
Who pays for this? Is this part of his VT scholarship?
I can see the Elmer's cow saying "Gloo Mor Horse" every commercial break at the annual Elmer's Sticky Bowl.
Instead of a draft, make the final game of the year between the four pod winners. Essentially a semi-final for the conference championship. The remaining 10 teams can play one another based on their conference record (5 vs 6, 7 vs 8, etc), ensuring a few good match ups, and, best of all, a 13 vs 14 losers bowl where UVa can officially be crowned "worst in the ACC".
I guess we'll find out in a few years, but yes, I can see both sides of the argument.
THANK YOU. This. Let's wait a few years then beat each other to death once we have all the facts straight. Good, glad that's cleared up.
I played 4th and 1 on my dad's tape of Super Bowl XVII that it's almost non-existent now.
Description nailed it
He compared Matt Ryan's completion percentage to Patrick Ramsey and Rex Grossman.
He said Brohm would probably be a late first round pick. He ended up being a second round pick.
While Flacco had a high completion percentage, the author said that he thought he'd be too much of a risk due to the low number or starts and the level of competition he played in division I-AA. This isn't an argument against completion percentage, it's a lack of sample size and competition, which increased uncertainty.
Henne had a better rating that Eli and Flacco this year, but yeah, I don't think he's above average. He does play on a shit team though.
I have no idea where you get that viewpoint from but clearly that's not the national perception of Virginia Tech. If that was the case, guys like Kendall Fuller, Trey Edmunds & Holland Fisher wouldn't have come here.
Virginia Tech is a very well-respected program. We sometimes don't get every recruit we want because Blacksburg is in the middle of nowhere and we have an old-school coach (the same way Penn State didn't get every recruit they wanted under Jo Pa).
My dad played there about fifty years before you. He also was from that area. Used to take us to E&H games when Sonny Wade played.
Did somebody say "potentially hilarious premise for a buddy comedy?"

Nice name drop on George Bell. He was a Stud in HS.
