He's going to be a QB for at least 2-3 years in the NFL. If after that period he's struggling he will most likely switch positions, go to a different league, or quit football.
I disagree on Smith's playing time. JJ said after the game he faded due to conditioning for lack of real game experience. If we are to win the next two, he needs to be in game shape. I don't see how resting a guys for a game with three days rest between the next game is any benefit to the player who wants to compete vs. the #2 team in the country. Kids want the challenge and I'm sure Smith was stoked to get the PT.
Just my opinion but this isn't a "just one mistake" situation. Petrino has proven over his entire career that he lacks any kind of moral character.

Notre Dame also has strict academic standards and tends to do well in all sports.
I believe he is in San Diego right now working with George Whitfield. He is a QB and will be a QB in the NFL.

Great hire, he's a fantastic coach who made one ginormous blunder. No denying he's a richard, but many football coaches are.
And Louisville knows what they are getting into. I've got so much respect for Jurich, one of the best in the business. Louisville won't miss a beat, and may even hang on to those WR's recruits we are trying to poach.

This is an unbelievably lazy and horrible hire. Is Petrino a good coach? Yes. But he is also a horrible human being and is not someone that the ACC is going to be pleased to welcome into their conference.
It's actually a good hire. Arkansas was on the brink of doing something special then imploding, and it starts with Petrino.
I'm sure he will have quite a few contract stipulations, but this could be the best hire Louisville could have made.

Last night's attendance was pathetic. The average fans have thrown in the towel. I love basketball and I love my Hokies, but I can't really blame them. We haven't been competitive against a good opponent since JJ took over. The only marquee win would be Ok. State last year. All other "big" games, in or out of conference, and against UVa have been 20 point losses.

Whenever a guy gets leveled, I react pretty much the same way. Could he have done it differently? Maybe, but it happened very fast. I'm with you that I certainly don't like guys lighting others up for the sake of trying to get on a highlight reel, but as long as it's within the rules, I'm good with it in the end. I also always wait to celebrate a big play until I can see that everyone (Hokies and opponents alike) has walked away uninjured. Nothing worse than a kid playing his heart out, only to go down hurt in some way.
But, again, he's a football coach. The "moral character" bar is pretty low.
