I won't argue with your list of D-Bags..but the one thing Petrino has that none of those guys have is a reputation for the type of behavior that gets people fired and embarrasses an organization. PJ, Al Golden, Butch Davis*, Bobby Bowden and Al Groh wouldn't get caught up in an adultery scandal...

*Butch Davis' NCAA violations are the closest thing to that type of behavior..but I'm referring more to socially shunned acts...like adultery

I just don't see how the "conference's opinion" or what have you matters. If Loserville wants to hire a douchebag, so be it.

Paul Johnson is a Douchebag
Al Golden is a Douchebag
Butch Davis was a Douchebag
Bobby Bowden was a gigantic douchebag
Al Groh was a douchbag

It's not like there hasn't been a host of douchebag coaches in this conference.

Attendance had already long since dwindled under SG.

Once the New Conference smell wore off and the contiuned missing of the Tournament happened, combined with a 4-12 conference record and things were already getting bad.

No one will ever be able to Deny LT's Class or toughness.

That said, I'm going to be that guy and flip your quote around. I'd argue he actually is the QB we deserved and not the QB we needed. By which I mean his playing QB here was the product of ostrich-heading and looking the other way about the offensive coaching staff and hiding behing "10 wins!" for so long that offensive recruiting was allowed to degrade to the point it did that we eventually had no options but to play a projected TE at QB for three years.

He then was never able to make the progression from that promising Sophomore year performance due to continued, stubborn insisentence on retaining said offensive coaching staff and as a result he stagnated and even regressed in the role over three years. By the time Loeffler and Co rolled around, I think everyone can agree that it was far too little too late.

So, I think he's exactly the QB "we" deserved, by which I mean Virginia Tech. I'd argue that the only person who didn't deserve all of this was...him.

They're clocking checks and I'm checking clocks...is it 5 o'clock yet?? Thank you TKP@work!

I thought he was referring to when he left Louisville the first time right after signing a 10 year extension. The man is slime and scum, but he is one of the better offensive coaches in football (NFL and College). That being said Louisville better be writing in both a morals clause, but also a clause that if he quits he owes them money.

WKU knew going in that he was likely to bail if he showed that he still had the talent and included a 1.2 million parachute for them. I wonder if he is paying it, or Louisville is?

In the low post, yes they play good D. On the perimeter or man, not really. Guys Like Eddie and Adam Smith just aren't good defenders. Which doesn't matter, if they are shooting hot. When they go cold, they have nothing to fall back on i.e. Defensive pressure leading to runouts.

We need to work on some fundamentals including free throw shooting. I am not a huge fan of the three point game, when you live by the three, you more often die by the three. I would like to see some more inside play from our big guys and more work on the glass. We started the season with a really high number of blocks and rebounds, lets get back to that play.

True, but our major need is at the interior linebacker spots. He's way too tiny for either of those spots, but ya never know. If he packs on 40 pounds of solid muscle in the next couple years, then yes, we'll have the single most intimidating kicker in football and maybe some added depth at Mike.

their program is pulling in one five star recruit after the other

This may be a slight exaggeration.

Those nerds are kicking ass

This, however, is completely accurate.

I never said it was in the NFL's best interest. ;) I'd like to think that if they stationed it where they actually have existing customers and marketed the hell out of it, that they might actually make some money. Or at least enough to recoup their opportunity cost.

Ah. I was just looking at the list and the numbers didn't start adding up. I was treating the AP as gospel though, and I'm not sure that's right in every year. Let's just go with what you said, because it's that much more motivation to crack the top 20.
