actually, this is about the time that they figure out that baseball is their last hope and all of the fans end up at a baseball game...except for the 5-10 odd people that get lost and go to the spring game by mistake.

I never buy the excuse that superior academics leads to subpar athletics. UVA fans have been using this for years, yet their program is pulling in one five star recruit after the other. Just look at Stanford. Those nerds are kicking ass.

Those other teams mentioned in front of VT all won BCS title games too. VT did play for one and finish 3rd in the BCS one year; no shame in either of those.

$100 bet for this one. Which he also didn't hedge by betting against Auburn or even taking the points (I'm not sure why not, they were getting 9.5 by gametime).

I would have taken a few thousand and put it on FSU, I'm a Hokie for life, but knocking out a few mortgage payments wouldn't hurt.

I didn't say it was a bad year, I was saying that the basement of this team should be around a .500 year. They have the talent to be capable of a bowl; it wouldn't be a failure.

No way, he'd get whacked and cry for mama!

I thought Barksdale played well last night. Best all around player on the team and probably the best FT shooter too.

I agree with you. Eddie always does the great dissappearing act against better competition because he doesn't have the athleticism to create his own shot or get free. Raines has never been my favorite player but last night was as good as I have seen him play since maybe Ok St last year. Hopefully Barksdale can get healthy because this team desperatley needs him to be a viable second or third scorer or else they will be a last place team.

Been there done that.

2000 season, LB Ben Taylor punted 4 times.

That's a different thread..I think they're referring to this

I hate to even mention this, but if his mechanics can't be corrected, I wonder how open Durkin would be to the possibility of a position change to the defense - say, for instance, to LB?

Eddie can shoot, but he folds the tent way too easily. Not a fighter in my opinion.
Why we don't Raines and Barksdale more against taller teams is a mystery - what is JJ thinking? Also, the JvZ set up at the top of the key without any motion the entire first half...Ummm, what? I don't get it.
Doht!!

Here is a summary of that Top 50 by conference (in Billions) along with how many schools from each

SEC $4.6858 (12)
Big 10 $3.8434 (11)
Big 12 $2.7144 (8)
Pac 12 $2.2491 (10)
ACC $1.4467 (8)
IND(ND) $ .8115 (1)

First thought when I read about him was Cody Grimm. Grimm is 5'11" 200-210 lbs after lots of years of serious weight training. Slye is 5'11" 195 coming outta HS. If he has a motor and eye for the ball like Grimm (possible with Bud Foster being "blown away" with his defense), it'll be hard to keep him off of punt coverage teams and outta the depth chart on defense. That'd be best-case scenario though.

At the very least we get a kicker who wants to hit somebody.

Not to be a Debbie Downer but none of the programs below us on that list are any to envy. Hopefully we have an upward trajectory.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting article. Adds to the argument of how schools, especially Duke, Notre Dame, even UVA, have difficulty qualifying student athletes within acceptance standards.

Oh, I agree completely. Kid is tiny but has a leg. Was mostly joking when considering him playing LB and K. K is a spot of real need, and maybe he can make a tackle on coverage. He'll be a K when he comes to the program.

FWIW, Cody Grimm is currently listed at 5'11" 200-210 lbs in the NFL. I thought it was an apt comparison, especially with Foster liking him so much (I assume as a LB, but could be as a K).

That and we can't leave out #PUNTERSWAG

Syracuse made ESPN's Top 10 with the rediculous rejection by Jerami Grant on Joey Van Zeregen. Thanks ESPN. Not.

Sums up our season so far.
