Hell even if he doesn't start at linebacker and isn't the kickoff guy, I see a way of getting a quality special teams addition (since he can tackle) without having to use a "starter". A small part of our ST woes are due to having to dress so many damn kickers who don't contribute in any other way. I see this as a 2 birds with 1 stone thing.

I think the one that surprises me the most is Iowa being #11, which puts them third out of Big Ten programs.
The only other thing that jumps out at me is the actual dollar difference between #1 and #30. Seems amazing that they project a $664 million difference in these two valuations.

Good evaluation. Yeah, this team is hard to watch. Last season it was obvious what the game plan was.. push the ball, take the first good shot you have, or get it to EG asap. Not that last year's scheme was always successful but it was fun to watch when it worked and with the right players we could be competitive against most teams in our conference. In order to win by trying to dominate the transition game we have to have superior athletes combined with a guard that is a great decision maker. Throw in an athletic big man that can rebound and run the floor and we become a threat to knock off anyone. This season the youth and lack of overall talent is making it very difficult for JJ to win. Not his fault entirely, but we still can't afford to lose to UNC-G or USC Upstate. Hopefully JJ can find a few guys that can save the ship over the next couple seasons. If not... well.... the sharks are already circling the boat.

Willie Byrn (yes he will) and Stanford will be good enough next year to play at every stadium in the country. I feel like their maturity will elevate them higher even though I hate the argument that seniors = better.
Knowles will be a deep threat a la aDavis but I don't think he will turn into what Andre did, who only had Mike Vick tossing him the ball, but I feel he could be as good if not better on ST.

Well, see above. There is precident for L'Ville keeping a coach around who cheats on his wife. I don't remember Petino resigning in shame; in fact he raised a national title banner. So I guess winning IS everything.

We did not play well enough during our out of conference games to give Leal a chance to play. If we are up 21 points on Marshall or ECU going into the 4th quarter then Leal would have gotten some quality reps against respectable defenses. Unfortunately... we barely squeaked by both teams. If the first team offense can't score more than 30 points in a game (which we only did once this season against Miami) then your chances of ever seeing the backup QB are really slim. It sucks. I agree with you though. Lefty could have been a little more creative with the personnel (not just Leal) this season.

IMHO they could use an assistant coach whose job it is to employ a motion offense. There are plenty of them out there. I generically liked the Maryland double stack, but you should really cater it to your players.
The team will still lose because of poor PG play, but if they learn how to pass and move, it may give them a much better team next year after the PGs have improved over the summer.
