First...TKP is the best.

Second...TechHoops.com does a great job covering bball (the writers and posters are a lot like here).

there's some bball discussion around here but obviously we're pretty football-centric. sometimes games come and go with nary a mention on the boards. i personally wish there was more hoops talk but i understand there's not a ton of interest when the team isnt very good.

I think this would be a step towards that. If a defender is consciously avoiding helmet contact- he will be forced to tackle a player (shoulder to torso, wrapping arms, etc...)

You know when they go Back to playing Tackle Football , we won't have this problem. Tackle and Not lead with shoulders or helmets...Tackling is a lost art in the Game of Football. Has been for about 15 years or more...

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY TURKEY LEGS!

best response ever. thanks for the laugh.

absolutely. The coaches get a lot of credit when a kid makes a pass or a cut or a tackle. When there is systemic failure across the board, it's on them too.

I'm not really sure what you expect our team to do...how do you propose we "command respect" from a team that took a cheap shot at our QB? How do we achieve that without breaking a rule somewhere? The only thing I can figure is we win the game....well we tried that and it didn't work. I just don't understand what you're wishing we had done. The hit was barbaric and if we had responded in kind it would be classless and I wouldn't have been proud of it.

The sideline eye candy was decent as eye candy but that's about it.

I like Verne but I have been officially Sick of Gary Danielson's Shit for about three years now. This game did nothing to repair that opinion.

If you took a bunch of dumpsters, chopped them all up and then put them in another dumpster and set the whole thing on fire you'd have an appropriate metaphor for that broadcast.

Too many commercial breaks. There seemed to be way more production pieces on UCLA than VT, we got almost no fluff other than Sam Rogers brother having gone to Hampton Sydney. One of the laziest broadcasts I've seen in a long time from a player name and general background standpoint. They made Musburger look prepared. Their commentary about the play of Zumwalt was completely inconsistent with the video; they ran a slow-mo replay of Coleman getting rocked in the head by Zumwalt later and Gary said, "Close to helmet to helmet."

I'd like to punch him close to his nuts.

I like that they review the ejection. I would like to see the replay official be able to rescind the 15 yard penalty. I forget the game but a player had a great clean hit and got flagged for targeting. The ejection was rescinded but he still got 15 yards for a beautiful clean hit.

that's the thing though...we have recently upgraded..we do have modern facilities. The only thing we're lacking are indoor facilities but I believe there are plans in place to build some. We just don't have all the bells and whistles of the brand new facilities of Oregon and Alabama...but we're not stuck in the stone ages

I'm not saying anyone on the team should've done something outside the rules or even the spirit of the game. We aren't UVa or Miami. But teams that command respect don't take an intentional knock-out shot to the chin of their r-senior QB in a bowl game and shrug it of with "stay classy."

Cline was sort of forced into action due to injuries/everyone else not being good. Malleck will be good, no doubt, but not good enough to warrant a redshirt on a guy who should be one of our top 4 pass-catchers next year.

I just don't see improving facilities leading to lesser production from a team. There's nothing wrong with modernizing a bit.

And being blessed to run out onto a field with 66,233 screaming jumping fans while Metalica is bumping from the speakers on a Thursday Night game in ALL Maroon Everything isn't good enough.

Kids these days like shiny/expensive thinks but sometimes some people can't have expensive things because their head will get too big.

He was sharp running beyond that one run; he was averaging about 12 yds on his other runs. Those passing stats obviously aren't great, but the offense was doing ok and they were still very much in the game. Hundley's passing stats weren't much better at that point in the game either.

Isn't that what BC did to most of their opponents this year? 5-7 linemen and the rest TE's. I think the only reason they fielded Rettig in front of Williams is because they thought it was a requirement.
