All (most?) of the freshman athletes live in Cochrane Hall, which is the residential building attached to West End.
Which I suppose could lead to another story of mine. Cochrane Hall, the athletic dorm, is named after one of my dad's frat brothers. He has about the 5th best parking spot for football games, and every year he throws a big tailgate where he throws a whole pig on his grill trailer and drives in from Richmond. Best tailgate I've ever been to (no offense to Joe for the one he put on this year).
I have to say, that when Loeffler said he wanted to run the ball, and they came out throwing, we all were wondering. With as many fantastic looking RBs we'll have going into next season and seasons beyond right now, I think we know that he wants to run the ball.

Agreed, and it would be a nice victory over UVA to land Keihn. He was a big UVA lean early on, his former teammate, Darius Jennings from Gilman, had recruited him hard.
And frankly Keihn probably fits better as an OLB in a 3-4 anyway.
One problem: Mike Leach sucks as a coach.
I can't see UT wanting any kind of nonsense with their coach, at least known stuff.
I always thought Leach got the short end of that ESPN stick, and would love to see him coach, but I don't think a couple of seasons at TT get you the best college football job.
Besides, I honestly think you will see a bigger name.
Man, if he comes, we will have a traffic jam at RB in the fall! Which is a great problem to have. We've proven over the years however, that we likely will only play 2 solid runners a season. Can you imagine having Shai trade off with Williams? Wow. I love the hunger of the new coaching staff. Great recruiting = sustained success. All predictions on this guy, as of 8 am have him leaning to us. We'll see if the guys at 247 actually earn their paychecks or if they just blow smoke.
His announcement is scheduled to take place today (Friday) at 1:00 pm.
Call me crazy, but I feel good about him coming to the promised land. Connection to coaches + current players + our pursuit + VT being last official = future anchor of Buds D. I think this is a classic case of a young man enjoying the fruits of his labor before he nails down his choice. Good for him...if do the same! How many more times will he be pursued like this? Not many. For most HS kids, this is the prime of their careers.
Our best strategy would be to have Bud Foster call him. A little bit of with me or against me might do wonders.
Mike Leech is like Dr. House. He pisses everyone off, destroys bridges, and is really bad at "coach speak". However, he just might be worth the trouble if you, the fan base, and the rest of the university can put up with him and look the other way, or laugh, when he says something in bad taste.
Every time I here Gruden's name, I think "again?" Seems like he's the top rumored candidate on an annual basis for the last few years.
I don't have too many stories but here's a couple.
I saw Beamer in Owens earlier this year ordering guess what...a sandwich from Frank's Deli. I wonder how that conversation goes..."Can I have my sandwich?" - Beamer
I went to high school with Erick Green. He was a senior when I was a freshman. Never really met him but got to see him tear it up on the hard court before arriving at Tech.
I've lost count of the number of times I've seen football and basketball players in West End. The funniest thing to me is how Kyle and some of the other seniors mooch off of Kendall's meal plan.
Finally, this isn't really an encounter, but one of the best Christmas gifts I've ever received

I won't debate your opinion and I am glad your are happy.
I'm indifferent. I think he is a fine TE coach and an above-average recruiter. I also don't think we'd miss him terribly if he weren't on the sideline at VT.

Personally speaking, I'm happy Stiney's staying. As the Recruiting Coordinator, he's got our recruiting running in high gear, and he did a heck of a job getting a true freshman ready to play TE last season. He also has 20+ years of very good relationships built with high school coaches, parents, and recruits throughout the 757, and secondarily throughout the state of Virginia.

I was a hokie fan for 4 years before I applied to VT. Got notice I didn't get in early decision, started other apps. Saw that UVA app was parchment or whatever and put it to the side. I think I started filling out Richard Blands app at that time. Luckily the mail came, and though not early decision, got in early to tech. End of filling out apps.

Leach burned too many political bridges by taking the state of Texas to court over his firing so I don't see this happening in any way. Leading candidate right now is Charlie Strong from Louisville, which would weaken them as they join the ACC.
Add an extra running back and you'd have a Bill Dooley offense.
