If he wouldn't take a position at USC under Spurrier, UGA under Richt, or ATM under Sumlin, why would ND be a better move? The spotlight at ND is not something you necessarily want. Look at some of the past ND coaches and what happens when they fail to meet the "ND standard" which is basically to be Alabama but better.

Eh. I'd rather not have Tressel. I think he'd be a good coach wherever he goes but he seems too midwesty for our tastes. And as others have said above, blue collars look better on us than sweater vests.

Side note, that 30 for 30 was awesome. Changed my opinion of Maurice Clarett.

Uh, I think some of you have been hitting the cool-aid a bit hard.

VT Def Co < ND Def Co, and that's not even considering they could pay him double. I don't think this would be a "lateral move" at all, and everyone knows what kind of tradition, recruits, and spotlight a ND job brings.

I love Foster at VT, and think he embodies everything about VT football. I was disturbed when they made Shane the "associate" head coach, and I think Foster has been slighted a bit overall. I would be happy if they give him the "head-coach-in-waiting" title, which might keep the Texas's and ND's away.

A little off-topic but Montae Nicholson committed to MSU. Don't think VT was in serious consideration but he did visit blacksburg on Nov. 18.

He'd probably put up
Monster numbers for Paul Johnson.

Just recently heard that its down to to GT and VT, whether this is true or not we will find out soon.

Doubtful considering Shai tore his ACL.

I agree with your comment but had to point something out...

Every time I read "yea" instead of "yeah", I read it Shakespeare style. It makes reading the internet much more interesting.

Yeah the hype of committing sets most recruits up for a huge letdown.
I hope the frenzy of it all subsides sooner than later.
(Unless they are HOKIE commits of course)

GO HOKIES!

The best signature is one where you can read the first letter of the first and last name and the rest is up to your imagination. In this one you could never put together its an L

Post of the Year...
LOLUVA and LOLndon

To be fair, the only bad thing about UVA is the football program. Also the fans. Oh and the stadium. Of course the campus is terrible and Charlottesville sucks. They're also pompous pricks. And their uniforms are terrible. Then again their coaching staff is full of a bunch of has-beens led by a laughingstock. Never mind........

On the other hand the turkey chili they served last time I was there 4 years ago was delicious. We eat our own mascot at home games I don't know why they thought it would offend us at their stadium.

#star recruits get attention. That could be important to a coach trying to get noticed.
Frank has a lot of attention. His system is proven and he runs a clean program.
He looks for the right kids to fit into his system based on character as much as talent.
Id say he's doing a great job at it too!

GO HOKIES!!!!

.

He's said plenty of times before he wouldn't make a lateral move. If he wouldn't go coach for Spurrier at SC, I don't see him going to ND. This is just typical casual college football observer nonsense. They think that Notre Dame can just pull anyone they want especially from some ho hum Virginia college.

Thanks. My laptop had been gone for a while for a repair, so I haven't been as active as I would have liked in the last few days, especially with several meme opportunities arising. I knew I couldn't let this one slip by, so as soon as my machine was back (and after doing a little "actual" work...sigh), I put this together. Mike London is one of my favorite subjects :)

I think, more generally, the conversation can go like this:

"_______________ would love to have Bud Foster as their DC."

Insert any school and it's still true. Just a compliment to Bud. I don't see him making a move like this; it would be sort of insulting to Beamer to leave for another DC position.

I don't think anyone passes either, but the seat gets a lot hotter a lot earlier if your predecessor won a national title. Now there is some slight cooling since UT has been average, but I don't think they are a patient bunch there in Austin.

Yea, flattering to say the least that Notre Dame would consider Foster in a DC position there. I think his roots are planted firmly at VT - especially if it were Notre Dame calling. Now, Texas? maybe not so much

yep- people need something to talk about....
it would be interesting to compile the number of schools that have speculated hiring Bud.
I'll bet it includes dozens of teams from every conference over the past 20+ years.

Wonder if Trey Edmunds going down has any impact on his decision?

I think that's just someone being really hopeful. Like when we were looking for a new OC and just about every good OC in the country had their name pop up.
