A bowl game can never be a 'trap game'. If VT can't prep for a team with weeks to prepare, we deserve what happens. I don't think there will be a lack of motivation for this group. L-Ville joins the ACC next year, this team wants to let them know who runs the ACC (despite not winning the coastal this year). This could be the perfect opponent for this group.
I feel bad for DJ Coles and all the time he missed due to injury. Also to Kyle and Tone missing so much of this season. Those guys have "NFL" written all over them, and I hope they get a chance to prove it.
That's not going to happen. Especially any projections of GT to the Sun, they have gone twice in a row. Most likely, in my opinion:
BCS Champ: FSU vs. Ohio St
Orange: Clem vs. Bama
CFA: VT vs. atm
RAB: Miami vs. L Yeah
Sun: Duke vs. UCLA
Belk: UNC vs. Some Big East team nobody cares about
Music: GT vs. Ole Miss
Military: Pitt vs. Who Cares
Independence: Syracuse vs. I have no idea
Left to fend for themselves because they are leaving the conference Bowl: Maryland vs. I don't give a Fleck
Why do UVA fans hate Shane Beamer? It has been Foster that has been crushing their dreams for years now, Shane just got here and has yet to put up a 1,000 yard rusher.
I think most of Logan's woes, and almost all of Trey Edmunds', can be blamed on the offensive line. If Loefler and Grimes can fix the OL, the running game will take care of itself, and the passing game will benefit immensely. If not, it really doesn't matter who's in the backfield.
BTW did anyone watch Giants-Redskins last night? I swear on one of the rushes where all four Redskins DLs hit Eli Manning at the same time, I saw four Giants OLs blocking each other. About 9:00 left in the game -- if you DVRed the game you could look it up.
well, in this case I actually attend a large public university in central Ohio
I am seeing us being pushed all the way down to the Belk Bowl in Charlotte.. That is crazy.. they rank Miami and GT over VT thats hilarious.
If Logan had another year, he would probably light it up.
This sentence has been echoing since Tyrod graduated.
The RAB sucks, nobody wants to play a Big East team again in front of a sparse crowd and a bowl game with no recognition.
I don't know why people say things like "Miami has name recognition and will be selected ahead of us" when there is a decade of bowl selections that prove this statement incorrect. VT has plenty of name recognition and comes with the added benefit of actual fans! The Peach may not select us, but that will be more because we were just there in August. I really don't think they would pick Miami over us and question whether they would pick Duke over us since Duke can't sell out their high school stadium (and would have awful TV appeal).
That said, the Sun Bowl is much preferable to the RAB. Playing a quality opponent like UCLA in a bowl game with historic name recognition and appeal. We also get a break, as a fanbase, regarding tix sales (remember, we sold like 483 tix to the RAB last year) since nobody expects actual fans to attend a game in El Paso Texas on Dec 31. That's a good thing for our fanbase, who is still a little uncertain with the current status of our program.
Kevin Jones was a rookie in the NFL
Same here.
I want the Chick-fil-a bowl so bad. Doubt it'll happen, but it'd be nice.
Baaammmm.. First Throw into the highlights and I actually saw him chop chop chop then he steps into a throw and its a bullet right up the middle made me smile!!
He looks like a child-sized Payton Manning.
I'll Leave this here
On the other hand, I think we will have a great spring. Loeffler will have a whole spring with the QB's. It looked like Loeffler has some great ideas in his playbook, he emptied it out early in the LOLUVA game and it was nice to see. One play that stood out was on a 3rd down where we ran a fake FB lead then tossed it to JC outside for a 7 yard gain. My jaw dropped and I think I watched that 4 more times and a little tear came to my eye. Those are the type of plays that I am waiting to see, I can't wait. Its going to be an awesome Spring and Summer.

His footwork is actually a plus for me. In general, he seems to have a great feel for the pocket (something that Thomas struggles at). I'd love to see a full game though, hard to judge a quarterback based on highlights. It's easy to see what his ceiling is, but not his floor.
To be fair, all receivers look great on highlight videos :)
Does anyone know his TD to interception ratio this year? I love highlight videos, but its the bad plays that really make the difference. Imagine how deceptive LT's highlight video would be this year.
See, I greatly disagree with the statement that I often see along the lines of "Benedict, Wang, Farris and Gibson will all be back next season and at this point in their careers, it's highly unlikely that they're gonna get any better.".
Regardless of what one thinks about their overall talent level, if you believe that Grimes is a better OL coach than Newsome was, with a better attention to fundamentals, then there is ALWAYS room for those guys to improve. Unless you just think they don't have the will/desire to improve.
After last year's Russell Athletic Bowl I don't think those bowl officials want to put themselves or TV viewers through that pain and agony all over again, because it will be a similar result.
Honestly I think that Russel Athletic Bowl could be our spot again. If you look at last year as any indication there was a lot of Chicago Maroon and Orange in the stadium and it was a good game. Not to mention all the good press they got out of it with Exum showing his amazing heart with the best buy gift card stuff. I could see it being the UL vs VT for sure.
And Miami fans traveling... that is a joke, if I remember correctly they played Notre Dame in the Champs Sports Bowl a year or two ago and it was all Gold n Blue from what I saw. Miami fan's can't even stay/watch their team lose against VT or win against UVA. lol
I might be a little biased since I am in the Orlando area and would love an excuse to take the day off of work and tailgate like I did last year.
#13 JR noah malone might be one to keep an eye on for next year as well. But yeah, I cant even find any of his WR's in a database.

Or at least 293-99.
*Edited to fix the typo and give the Hoos their due respect. They did in fact hold us to 293 points, not the originally mis-typed 299. My sincerest apologies to any disgruntled Hoos.

The more I think about it the more I agree with you. Assuming Clemson is BCS, how could the CFA possibly pick Duke or Miami over Tech? Duke would be a nightmare for TV ratings, and Miami would bring no fans. Tech makes the most sense for the CFA by far.
