Ok, so your point apparently is that replacing all the offensive staff was insufficient. The AD is getting changed out.
We have HC and all the defense left.
Is it your position that since the offense isn't sufficiently better in their first year that we need to replace the HC?
In a hypothetical, let's say the team isn't top 10 next year.
What would you recommend then? I suppose replacing the defense is the only thing left or, am I missing something.
I would prefer to give the offense another 2 years to prove they are effective or to at least determine which parts are or are not working and tweak that.
I understand you want it now but, I think that's not realistic. I think realistic is one more year of transition and 2015 to be the season of reckoning.
That doesn't really address his question, and isn't relevant at all. It's not about lack of talent, it's about which personnel you use on a play based on down and situation. We have a 215lb tailback and a 260lb quarterback, and we chose to run a 165lb tailback up the middle on 3rd and 1. I don't care if we have Diggs. You shouldn't be handing off the ball off to him and sending him up the middle on a 3rd and short.
Well, time to get healthy and then beat UVA in a couple of weeks. Oh and UNC has been playing better recently, so that's definitely not a penciled in win for Duke, in Chapel Hill too.

I do have to say I don't like hearing about the whole "rebuilding year" thing all the time lately. This is COLLEGE, every year is a rebuilding year more or less. I just think that's a nice way of saying our recruiting didn't pan out so now we have lots of gaps and we need to wait a couple years to get everything filled back in. I'm not saying this is a reason to talk about firing CFB or something dumb like that btw. Just saying it's a big reason for our problems. I'm so glad that we FINALLY shook up the coaching staff though, pretty sure we can all agree that was very much needed. I'm hopeful that next year after another year of improved coaching that we'll see a more skilled group on the field. But first things first...BEAT UVA!

But as far as how good of a team this is? They're definitely better than MD which is why that loss really sucked....
From my point of view looking at what situation Lefty came into from the previous staff he has exceeded expectations I had for the offense. When everything clicks its absolutely beautiful to watch -Miami, and 1st half vs UNC. When the young players make mental mistakes and Logan is asked to do to much it looks something similar to a dumpster fire -3 ACC losses. The rest of the time its just play smart and dont turn the ball over and let the Defense do there thing -Marshall (although that was closer to the before mentioned dumpster fire), ECU, GT, PITT.

Yes lack of third down conversions did not help, but why on 3rd an shorts do you run Coleman up the middle? It looked like the O was actually getting push enough to run the ball.
The only play from under center was in the red zone and we ran a play action pass where Logan got sacked.
The offense needs to be dedicated to running the ball for at least 30 plays a game and from the shotgun at all times. It's seems that once we have success running we go back to the pass.
I'm just pissed. I'm pissed because every game has been winnable.
The University of Maryland basically just waxed our asses (they had us on the ropes until late in the fourth and in OT they threw the haymaker while we stumbled around the mat punching at air).
UVa's defense could clam this offense up in 2 seconds if we don't get our heads on straight. This team can be downright putrid and it seems to me that we show our ugly side a tad too often to walk into any game expecting us to execute.
I'm an optimist at heart anyway so Id like to see us slip in and get to Charlotte because 2 seasons straight we have played to the level of our opponents. So I think we would have a shot at FSU, just look at last season taking FSU to the final minute of the fourth.
I disagree with that. For years Hokie fans have called for us to be more exotic in the red zone because running it 3 times in a row had become too predictable. We mixed it up and we scored.
I didn't think the offensive line improved after Miami. I thought we put the offensive line and the RB's in position to settle in and shoulder some of the load against Miami. We didn't do that today.
We again, asked Logan to bear the responsibility for our offenses success - in my opinion almost entirely. For three straight games, asking Logan to do pretty much everything out of shotgun or pistol didn't work.
I am dissappointed because, yes, the oline did play poorly at times today, but also because I thought we found some balance.
Logan didn't have a great day and it was most definitely because of the Oline. He did not have 4 or 5 seconds most of the time. Our oline got blown through today repeatedly.
I hear you but nah, man. If we went to Charlotte and beat FSU - you'd be jumping up and down and screaming.
This is about what I expected this year. A headscratching team. They're competitive when they shouldn't and they aren't when they're supposed to. I'm willing to forgive the sins of this year and next year as long as it culminates into something after that. Rome wasn't built in a day they say.
The good news? Because of chaos we can still be in contention for the division.

I am against 3+loss teams getting BCS bids, just on principle.
If we backed into the Charlotte, and then somehow pulled off a win over FSU, I'd be severely conflicted.
Especially considering our record in BCS bowl games. Just not a situation I even want to consider right now.

If someone asked you to list 10 teams that could/should be in the top ten every year, this is not an unreasonable list to suggest. When any of these two teams play against any of the other ones, it's a huge game. These are don't-miss-games-if-you-like-college-football-appointment-viewing.
In the next ten (10-20):
Penn State, Florida, Auburn, Nebraska, Georgia, Michigan State. These teams you'd expect to be in the top 20 every year. These teams are generally pretty comparable programs. A game between any of these two teams generates a lot of national interest.
But at some of the teams around us: UNC, UVA, Texas Tech, Northwestern, Washington St, Utah. Would you be hyped at a Texas Tech vs Virginia Tech aka Tecmo Bowl west? How about playing Washington St or Utah? These are our "comparable" programs.
