Auburn shows me that Loeffler was either too stubborn or not talented enough to at least attempt a system where his players could be successful there.
They are the exact same roster more or less as last year and have 1 loss in the best division in college football.

I would think that with the new coaches/scheme, everyone is at the same stage of development on offense. It has to be more difficult for veteran players to coach up the younger guys when they both have the same amount of time in the system.
And not to charge down a rabbit hole but I would think that leadership on a football team is a chicken/egg debate. Good leadership tends to lead by example. On the field that means making plays. During the week it means running practice. So it's gotta be difficult to develop leadership without talent and time in the system.
I agree with you- I'm merely saying this team isn't capable of lining up and just pounding the rock over and over, and winning the game.

I'd hardly call that game getting your ass waxed. That would be what FSU is doing to opponent's right now. We had a couple bounces that didn't go our way (see Miami game to see what happens when they do) and we didn't contain CJ on the options and delayed scrambles. I've watched close to half the UVA games so far this year and their offense is even worse than ours and their defense can look great one minute then look like a JV squad the next.
It is a 'rivalry' game and that makes it have the chance to be closer than it should be, but I'd say there will be a lot of Hokie faithful in Lane North and I like our chances of completing the decade of dominance.

Because as Virginia Tech fans, most of us are spoiled. Do you realize that Duke is on track for a "normal 10-win season for VT" and they're celebrating like there's no tomorrow? It's because IT'S EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO WIN 10 GAMES IN A BCS CONFERENCE, LET ALONE DO IT FOR EIGHT STRAIGHT YEARS.
We have a first-year coordinator, o-line coach and wide receives coach. We're regularly playing five freshman (Jonathan Mclaughlin, Kalvin Cline, Trey Edmunds, Sam Rodgers, Josh Stanford), a former walk-on (Willie Byrn) and a guy who didn't play football at all last year (D.J. Coles) on offense. It takes time to rebuild a program. Of course you have exceptions like Auburn, but what we're going through is the "norm".
With Duke beating Miami, I don't think we even make the ACCCG if we beat Maryland.
People who clamor about this being a "failed season" because we're not playing for the ACCCG or NCG, you sound like those girls on the sweet 16 show on MTV. Your parents bought you a brand new car and instead of being excited, you throw a hissy fit that you didn't get the Mercedes you wanted.
I think it's great that we have high expectations for our team but I'm tired of this negativity from our fanbase. It's fucking hate week...keep calm and beat UVA.
We were never told that this was going to be the toughest team and no one said anything about getting pushed around last year though? And, did you downvote me for disagreeing? I thought I had a decent point. Moorehead said he wanted to develop the toughest oline in the ACC. Our guys are a hodge-podge at best right now and some of them are really inexperienced. Your expectations for this team are about where they should be in 2-3 years. If we're still getting beat up like yesterday, we got problems.

Did you see how the interior of our line was getting manhandled today? It's very difficult to run when defensive tackles are two yards into the backfield at the start of every play.

Sure, we'd all love a better record, but as it's been stated again and again, you can't just pick up a national championship winning coach at Walmart. Not even at a Kroger. You're saying get rid of our very good, accomplished, and respected coach, in the very, very small chance we get one better?

I see a lack of commitment, Trey was supposed to be our workhorse going into the season. at almost 4 yards a carry, why is he not breaking 20-25 carries per game? I agree VTfootballgrad. its not that we dont HAVE a running game, its that we abandon it, right when we need it most
It's purely a guess based on an outsider looking in, but I just don't see any of the seniors holding the other players accountable, or trying to get them pumped up, or helping them fix mistakes. I know the coaches are there with them on the sidelines, but I feel like it also makes a difference to these young guys when it's the older players who are helping them, and holding them to a high standard.
I could be completely wrong, and I hope I am, but I just don't see it.
One win over top 5 teams in his tenure... You'd think he'd have more with the general success of the program since 1993.
I did not agree with the fact that he was worse than Noel or Glennon... I should have made that point more clear. Apologies. But, after seeing Logan these last two weeks I've realized that he's either going to be one of the best quarterbacks in the country for a game or he's going to turn the ball over three or four times, and usually make one critical one. We can usually tell which game he's going to have after one or two, maybe three, offensive possessions. Yesterday, he played great. No turnovers, nice completion percentage, had some very nice runs; he just had no time to throw the football. Perhaps that comment was a little unfair, because he does give us the best chance to win, but his inconsistency, along with our entire team, is very frustrating. But, I guess if you want one player benched for inconsistency you must call for the rest of the players too, and James Gayle didn't play so hot yesterday, as did anyone on the offensive line.
All those veteran players were on the defense. We knew coming in to this season the offense would be young, very young. And yet, six close wins in a row suddenly had everything thinking "we deserve a national championship". We all got caught up in it, and forgot what our more realistic expectations had been

his hands were tied. the hc there wanted him running a system that didn't fit his philosophy. football is much more complicated than most of us are willing to admit. if you're running a system you don't know, you are screwed.
