ah, right. I don't know why I said that. I am confused why (aside from me misspeaking) anyone would downvote my opinions on this particular topic.
I guess we can dial back the praise for the offensive line in the Miami game. While they definitely did their job, I just watched Duke's offensive line make Miami's front seven their bitch yesterday.
Miami is terrible on defense. How did FSU not score 70 on them?
My biggest disappointment this year has been special teams. Frank Beamer has always said that special teams errors were easy to fix, not a big deal. WTF, then??!!
We should line up under center and punch the ball for at least 30 carries. Trey should get the most touches and Coleman spelling him occasionally. It seems like we split the carries between the 2.
We are getting away from the run when it has success and that's what I mean by lack of commitment to it. We are so quick to go back to the pass that we never let our RBs get into a rythem.
I would love to see us run the ball 3 straight times on our first drive.
I'm still pissed they called the fumbled an incomplete pass and even the review didn't overturn the play. That changed the game...
except that doesn't work when the unblocked defender gets to the mesh point the same time as the RB. or the LB can diagnose where the hole is opening before our QB. Or the safety can fill the gap on the edge before our RB even gets the handoff.
Nope. Not my point at all. At the beginning of the year I thought that this was going to be a tough year. I fell into a false sense of believing this team was further along than it was after the 6 straight wins. The loss yesterday was at least for me the final realization that we aren't as far along as the 6 wins otherwise pointed towards. I was merely trying to play devil's advocate and show that it is possible. Then try to put humor into conversation with a meme. That's about it. I haven't called for any coaching changes at all. I think that is completely ludacris. But the point is that it isn't impossible.
So let's get a new coach so we can get some high quality losses!
I'm tired of these stupid discussions. Football is football. You're not going to win it all.
ACC Championships speak volumes to me. And we have more than FSU/Clemson/Miami.
Every team is going to lose games it shouldn't. Even Alabama.
Let's kill him. That would make us all feel better.

It's a heck of a recruiting class for this reason: There's a fucking plan.
Yes, I agree that recruiting sites aren't 100% accurate, but they are a decent indicator of elite talent. I was just trying to provide some perspective, because every fan of every team can see a lot of potential in their recruiting class. If you look more objectively at this, you'll see that we haven't really improved that much this year in terms of recruiting relative to previous years. With the plethora of talent in VA this year, some would argue that it should have been much better. We can no longer rely on the recruiting surge that Michael Vick provided - that era is over. We've had an edge even on offensive recruiting back then, but now we need to be prepared to win games without relying on talent. It is a little delusional to claim that we are having a heck of a recruiting class.
I move that if we're not going to do all maroon everything, this is our obvious second choice.
If nothing else, you need to appreciate how cool it is that we have someone who can attract people just by being so gosh darned nice.
haha, no Packer homerism here, it just happened to play out like that. My next target in the draft was frequently a Packer. And then I picked up Boykin when Cobb went down. It was working well for me, right up until Rodgers went down...
At least those coaches have all won MNCs (or at least 1). As was covered in another post Beamer hasn't seemed to have overcome his weaknesses.
Again, look at the quality of our losses compared to the quality of our wins...
You're also describing a lot of teams in college football. Heck, look at what's happened to Stanford, LSU, and so many others just this year.
You don't have 8 consecutive 10 win seasons by being inconsistent.
You don't have a 20 game bowl winning streak by being inconsistent.
You don't walk into a new conference and win 4 out of the first 7 conference championships by being inconsistent.
You don't go to 4 ACC championships in 5 years and win 3 of them by being inconsistent.
You don't go to 4 BCS bowls in 5 years by being inconsistent.
You don't become the winningest active coach by being inconsistent.
You do all of those things by having the most consistent coach, and program, in the country with Frank Beamer.
Look at every other team in the ACC. FSU, Miami, Clemson, all have performed less than we have since we joined the ACC.
I would love to end this discussion, because honestly, all it does it rile a good bit of people up about something that is not going to happen. The risk of getting rid of HCFB is so far greater than the reward, that it scares many of us on here. Go ask any WVU, UT, Nebraska fan: looking for the next hot hand is not so easy. Frank Beamer, even though he might not be in his prime is a top ten coach. There are only a few elite coaches. Only 6 active coaches have won NCs. A handful more have played for one. We have one- so get behind him!
They've had nine months. There should be a new baby Fuller by now.
I think that's actually exactly what we're looking at.
If Beamer isn't running a clean program I would most like have a pretty major breakdown. The fact that Virginia Tech plays by the rules is such a huge part of our identity in my eyes. If we're going to beat you it's going to be because we're better than you. Not because we were the ones with more money to throw at the problem.
As I read all of these posts about how change needs to come (again) and everything, I'm sitting here thinking, "didn't the Jews start bailing on Moses pretty much right after they got out of Egypt?" I mean really, people. We were clamoring for change after last year and we got it. The change (Lefty, Grimes, Moorehead) have all shown that they have the ability to be successful. Let's give them more than 9 months to actually do their jobs and build the program, yeah?
My idea of inconsistent is the teams we lose to compared to the teams we beat.

I honestly don't know if I'll be able mentally deal with my Hokies losing to Duke and UVa. Like, I actually may have to take a look at my options when it comes to mental healthcare benefits.
