I don't know about anybody else, but I can toss a regular football pretty well but I really struggle with smaller footballs. I wonder if maybe Thomas has trouble throwing sometimes because his hands are sooo big and the ball is "small" in his hand. From thumb to his middle finger he can hold the ball at the widest part and touch 3 seams! That's a huge hand. He can toss the deep ball, I agree, but he doesn't display the ability to put touch on short passes. He routinely misses screens and he struggles with check downs. He launches rockets at receivers 10 yards away. I wonder if throwing it hard is the only way he can throw a decently accurate pass. (not sure if that would be related to the size of his hand or not)
just some observations. I like LT a lot but I don't think he's a "natural" QB. Yes, he's been playing QB for years now and he's our best option at the position (or he wouldn't be starting, right?) but I think his physical characteristics fit a different position better than QB. I'm not a Leal (or Ford for that matter) truther and I support LT when he's on the field, but I just can't agree that he's a natural QB.
I completely agree, in fact I do it for all sports. It can be NFL, MLB ect I find blogs I like and are good and I just read/follow them. No espn
Psych...which eventually led to culinary school. Makes no sense, I know, if I had it to do over I'd go Chem so that I could play with some food science, but maybe ill toy with that idea in the future.
Agreed. Any 'Bama print that doesn't pay homage to the houndstooth style is whack.

# | Bitter blog - ESPN's Todd McShay weighs in on Thomas, Exum, Gayle's draft stock First half of the draft? Maybe. But he isn't a first-day guy when you look at all the other corners out there. And what is it now, 2nd and 3rd rounds on the second day? I could see him being taken on the second day, but I'd think third round would be all I'd wager on. Even if he went at the top of the fourth, that would put him in the top 100, which I wouldn't disagree with.
I'd just say that he is going to be better in his role in our defense than he would likely be viewed to be at the pro level.
This is from her mailbag....doesn't sound so biased against us to me....

Heather, as a die-hard Hokies fan, I agree with you on your pick of BC over VT. I sure hope you and I are wrong, but I think you used sound judgement in picking BC. BC has always played the Hokies tough whether we are playing in B'Burg or Chestnut Hill. I just think BC will be the better team Saturday after seeing the Hokies get wins by the skin of their teeth most all of this year. I told my wife the same thing a couple days ago; but again, I hope I'm wrong.
HD:
Thanks, Robert. We could be wrong, especially considering how good Virginia Tech's defense is. We'll find out a lot about the Hokies this weekend. Like coach Frank Beamer said, this is a character test for them. They've still got a lot to play for.
HD: Well, if I'm wrong about BC, then I think they've got a great shot, Pat. There's no reason they can't go to Miami and win -- unless they continue to turn it over and miss field goals. The Boston College game will tell us which way the Hokies are going to go. At some point, you also have to wonder if the frustrations on offense have boiled over to the defense and caused the team to be fragmented. That has not happened in the past to Virginia Tech teams that have faced adversity. You mentioned the 0-2 start. Virginia Tech didn't lose again after that. One thing I've learned: Never count the Hokies out.

Okay about the post. I disagree, Logan has been playing QB for years now and has a really good deep ball. I think that as long as he gets good coaching, he can be a QB in the NFL.
Aside from this being a middle finger to Auburn alums, Nike really dropped the ball. Elephant print, aside from not really even being a thing, is a stretch. Houndstooth should have been the pattern of choice.
glad you enjoyed that! Here, have a leg. I took a risk because I don't know what the general opinion is on Ford and I expected a slew of downvotes. I work with a bunch of super pro Ford homers and they would have torn that comment all to shreds.
That ^ made me smile. Turkey leg for you.
I laughed...Thank you. + 999 if I could but please be satisfied with one.
But HD picked against us, so there's that.

As long as it isn't orange...
Question is, what are we wearing for BC... Road Maroon I hope?
Edit: or is home maroon and away white?
if I had to guess..I would say white
I hate reading stuff like that, I get myself all pumped up thinking about how this is our come-back game and we're going to have a break out game and then this puts a damper on the whole thing. Go Hokies!
You really don't think Kyle will get drafted in the first half of the draft as a corner? I think he will. He's a great corner with great man to man abilities. Whatever he lacks, he makes up with instincts. If speed really is his problem then I think he can be a good slot corner (I never really noticed a lack of speed myself but maybe that's why he's such a liability on the double move?) This is honestly the first time I've ever heard/read something like this about him.
quickly rise to power and leap uva? they dont have to get much better imo.
here is some food for thought - the 757 and more specifically norfolk, chesapeake, and va beach is one of the highest populated areas in the USA without a proper MONEY sport playing professionally or a college team for that matter. they have tried for years to get something going.
ODU could be that big deal sports program that the 757 should have. The potential is there as its basketball program is already respectable. Now I really do not expect ODU to become a top 25 power house out the gate and it will probably take 10-20 years for them to grow to be a consistent FBS school. To not see the potential would be dumb of VT, or anyone else, to do.
Karma is an awesome concept. I love the idea that I can troll Hoos all day and be confident that they probably deserved it.
I can only assume based on his name that if football doesn't work out for Ace Fierro, he's going into porn.
Speaking of mainstream media, Stewart Mandel at SI has BC over VT in his upset special in this week's pickoff:
Virginia Tech (6-2) at Boston College (3-4)
Virginia Tech offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler -- who ran 3-9 Auburn's offense in 2012 -- has not saved the Hokies. Following last week's 13-10 loss to Duke, they rank 101st nationally in scoring offense (21.5 points per game). Boston College isn't much better, but the Eagles scored 34 against Florida State and were competitive at Clemson. Coach Steve Addazio's team is poised for a breakthrough.
I like the defensive game plan where Bud essentially tells them go out and destroy the opposing QB. VT can stop studs at HB, and that shouldn't be any different against BC. They have one main receiving threat, and our secondary should have no problem shutting them down.
The offense... can't step in it like they did against Duke.

Never. Never again. I also feel like the orange effect has never worked outside of GT last year because they tend to try throwing it late in the year closer to Halloween. If anyone else is like me, I've got a few orange Hokie tshirts but nothing suitable for colder weather and am not going to buy something just to conform to the effect game, therefor a game later in the year will see me in maroon no matter what. Labor Day last year was very orange though.
