That's what disturbed me the most as well. Not only did Thomas look like he had no confidence, and was afraid to take the shot down the field even when it was wide open, but he was clearly upset with other players and coaches. The problem is, when you have a guy wide open behind the defense and you don't throw it to them, that's your fault, not theirs.

The 4th down play killed me insideI thought for sure we had the QB gobbled up and were about to get the ball back considering he was at least 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage. As for the Thomas pick in the end zone he did make a bad play and a bad decision but that was because he felt pressured to do so in my opinion. The two picks that Thomas thew into the middle of the field that were tipped up make me have a hard time blaming Thomas completely..his receivers can't be tipping the balls in the air in the middle of the field where all the traffic is. As the game ended and i sat down in the stands and watched in disbelief as the Hokies lost I couldn't help but think that it was one play that lost us the game (but it never is). I don't know if I'd pick Journell missing the field goals from makable distance, Thomas making ill advised throws, the lack of running game by anyone not named Thomas, or the failed 4th down defense. I am however going to chalk this one up as a fluke game that we should have won that did not have any bounces go the Hokies way. If I had to bet money I'd think that the Hokies come out in the remaining games with intention to make up for the loss and get back to the ACC championship Game. Oh and one side note everyone that stayed for the game did a great job at being loud only a few people left so I'm proud the fans showed up and did there job! On to next week against BC

He definitely wears his heart on his sleeve too. I love the emotional intensity, and it seemed positive, even when he messed up - one play he missed a sack, laid face down on the ground for a few seconds, then popped up, bounced back to the line, and plowed through his man on the next play. Just awesome to watch.

I awoke to find the film of the Duke game sitting in my inbox.

behind the scenes look:

French - great (painful) right up. Question: Why can't Logan pump fake? Is he taught not to?...is it a "feel for the game" kind of thing? The way he stares down receivers from the snap a pump fake and throw to the other direction would be massive (other option is to fix the stare down problem...but 2/3 of the way through his r-SR year, that ship has sailed).

Screaming might be a little strong, but yelling certainly. I'd have no problem if I thought it was deserved, and I don't know routes and all that, but there have been times when from everything I can tell, he screwed up and seemed to blame someone else. And again, I haven't noticed it as much this year, so I think he's been better about owning his blame, but it's just a lingering concern. I want to like Logan, but he's made it hard sometimes.

The film room session this week for the players are not going to be fun. Plenty of ass-chewing, ear-splitting yelling, I'm sure. Plenty of blame to go around, and this write up nails it.

On Thomas' fourth interception, Moorehead was actually telling Thomas Byrn was open, and Thomas responded by slamming his helmet on the turf. I have noticed that Thomas was actually mouthing off at Knowles at one point of the game telling to shut up.

As I thought back to the game, I am convinced that the team never recovered from DJ Coles' penalty, because since then, that changed the demeanor of the offense. Sure, they scored on that 99-yard drive, but that was supposed to be the second touchdown of the day, not the only one.

Those mistakes are correctable. Boston College won't be an easy game to bounce back to, but if they are serious about being a contender for the Coastal, they have to win that game.

He reminds me of The Waterboy or Alvin Mack from The Program. He's the most fun player to watch. Of course I noticed most of the time after jumping around he had to look at #MANBEARPIG to tell him where to line up.

Reading this just brings on a whole wave of unpleasant emotions again. ..jeez..

This was me on Saturday, ...except it was a bottle of Gentlemans Jack, ...and the glass was my mouth.

My goodness, I am not sure how much more open you can be. I counted at least three plays where Thomas had receivers wide open on deep posts, including the final interception, and not a single time did Logan air it out.

This. I am by no means an expert, and rarely catch things the players should see from the stands, but there were several times, including the one you cited, where I was jumping up and down wondering how on earth Logan didn't see Cline or (a couple times) Byrn wide open for either a huge gain or a TD.

i didn't think jarrett ever did kickoffs? i thought this whole year has been mangus and knowles...correct me if i'm wrong though

I've never really seen him *screaming*. I've seen him get up on people's faces a couple times when they don't run the right route, but again with the polarizing... last year people were blaming Logan for not being a leader. Now he's trying to be, and people think he's being an ass (not trying to put words in your mouth, just commentary on the LT situation in general)

Nice, i did that too. Definitely painful at time, but senior year was pretty sweet with the design project.

LT is a true team player IMO. He is doing everything he can to help this team, and he's our best option. I hate when he throws picks, but I'll continue to support him.

My one lingering issue with Logan is that he seems to throw people under the bus at times. Not so much after the game - he's studied well the Coach Beamer School of SportSpeak - but during the game I've seen him screaming at someone rather than taking the blame himself. I will say I haven't seen that as much this season, just a lingering concern from the past I hope.

Oh I agree that putting all the blame on LT's shoulders is ridiculous. The whole offense is not existent, and no one else has stepped up to help him. To be honest, this is more of a fault of recruiting and playing development, but 90% of the populace can't/won't recognize this as the true problem.

I was just trying to to point out it's time to start seeing the future. If it's garbage time, then thats fine. But Beamer needs to start development now, instead of starting someone next season.

Lolz.

I'll go ahead and take a chance to feed my own ego here. For starters, I haven't weighed in on Saturday's game yet because quite honestly, I didn't want to deal with the majority of the people on the internet. Also, the hit Trey put on that guy was a thing of beauty. Dude hits like a truck and I like it. He probably would have been pretty darn good as a LB, but our options at RB were/are limited, so I can't blame the coaches for keeping him there.

As for Saturday, sometimes you're off, simple as that. I know a lot of people have complained about the playcalling, but really, I don't think you can second-guess that too much. During the game, I could see a clear reason for just about everything Loeffler called, and really can't complain. I'm definitely interested in seeing what French & co. have to say with the benefit of film review. This was one the worst games of Logan's career, plain and simple. His overthrow of Josh Stanford was reminiscent of his pick-six against Clemson last year, and he seemed to be just slightly off on some of his throws. That said, he still had some very good throws and didn't get a whole lot of help from his receivers, so it definitely could have been either much better or much worse than it was Saturday.

Something I really wish people would consider about Logan Thomas: I consider him to be a r-Freshman in terms of QB development. In the past 8 months, he's gotten a new OC/QB coach, a new system, new mechanics, has been taught to actually go through progressions for the first time (remember how he always locked onto one receiver? Well, what do you expect when that's all you're taught to do?) and done ALL of this with a group of extremely inexperienced receivers. Growing pains are to be expected. "But, it's the 8th game of the season!" Yes it is, but coming off a bye week, just about everything looked sloppy, which Loeffler said was a big concern with such a young team. My point is this: the man's tough as nails, is the unquestioned leader of this team and is far and away our best option at QB. You won't see Leal, and you don't want to. Yes, Thomas probably would have been better off at TE, but we didn't have any good QBs in the program (lookin' at you, O'CainSpring system) and that ship has sailed a long, long time ago. Logan is human. He'll have bad games and then there will be times he puts the offense on his back and grinds out a win all by himself. See GT this year. To expect perfection all the time is insanity. Even elite QBs have off days, just see Brady, Peyton, and RG3 from yesterday. It happens. Deal with it, learn from it and move on. We're still in this thing, still 6-2 and yesterday's game, while still a very bad loss, will not break our season. BC game in 6 days, time to right the ship.

Remember Virginia was the first state to switch to the metric system for all government projects. We were also the first state to switch back...

Down with Metric!

You might have to stock up on bananas for when the nephews come to visit over the holidays.

The offense can come out as fired up to play as anybody, but if you aren't very good, your spirit can't throw/catch/run/block for you.
