Not a pilot, but I'm a AE major.
I've never heard so many people hate on their own team. Any time LT did anything there were numerous people shouting ridiculous things at him. I get that he's polarizing, but come on. If you don't like it then leave. Same thing with Journell. People are booing him when he runs out? I get he's not the most likable guy but damn.
LT is a true team player IMO. He is doing everything he can to help this team, and he's our best option. I hate when he throws picks, but I'll continue to support him.
Cody on the other hand has displayed that he cares more about himself than his team. Between breaking into Zo's house, the pepper spray incident at BWW, and the recent failed drug test, I think we can all agree he's not exactly a stellar individual. If Beamer is keeping him on the team, our depth at kicker must be dreadful.
I really wanted to try to get a picture with him but all the VT peeps were with him getting him ready to go up to the stadium. I need to find some pants like his. Also it saddened me that everyone looked at me awkwardly as I yelled out "MANBEARPIG, SACKCITY, etc.
One of the only reason I hate bye weeks with our team. The team seems to get this momentum rolling and nothing can stop them but themselves (on offense). It's like the offense during the off week hit the reset button and we saw the team that played against Alabama (minus the crappy special teams play). Speaking of special teams, so nice to see someone other than Jarrett returning kickoffs (still with the punts, but a step in the right direction).
After considerable amount of thought I must conclude with the majority of Hokie Nation. My first response is neither. However a loss to da U is less of a letdown to our rankings and sos respect than is a loss to Puke. Even a Puke team that has "improved over the last few yrs." Seriously, when asking fans what their marquee win was against this yr, it will be us. When asked which win made them bowl eligible this yr, it was the win vs Tech that got them the 6th win for a 2nd season of bowl eligibility. A tech team that never scored more than 10 pts on them.
Regardless with how much Cutcliffe has "improved" them, this will go into the annals of signature historically embarrassing & unacceptable losses along with Temple (98'), Boise St & JMfU ('10), and ECU (08'). And Cincy ('12). I would be remiss if I didn't point out that ALL of these losses have occurred under Beamer's "leadership." I'll be honest, if I were a younger, newer AD at Tech, I would honestly lay into about some of his methods and practices as well as about these losses.
Boom.
THE MIGHTY MONARCH HAS SPOKEN AND IS AT FULL SALUTE! GIVE IT TO HIM, DR. GIRLFRIEND!!
The defense held a team averaging 35 points per game to 13 points and less than 200 yards total offense. I'd say the guys that played on defense did very well - no drop-off that I could see.
They could do what Penn State does - each gate is separate for each section of the stands. Your ticket can't get you into a different gate. At least I think that's the way it works. I don't know anyone that has ever tried.
We have a deficiency of talent on our offense, and then the talent we have has not been developed as it could be.
We have spent the last few years bringing in projects on offense and I don't think we had the coaches to develop them.
Examples: Logan Thomas-top TE in the nation that was changed to QB and suffered under O'Cain. Trey Edmunds-was more likely to play LB but changed to RB due to no depth, Kalvin Cline-a late pickup with minimal experience that would be a redshirt in a perfect world, ALL of our wide receivers (except DJ)-do you think any of them would be starting for another upper tier program?, and our O-line was so screwed up that the entire spring plus was spent trying to find out who could play where.
I'm not trying to come off as a negative Nancy; just calling a spade a spade.
Up vote. This cracked me up.
NOTHING quite says frustration and commitment like an angrily-made needlepoint hanging on a wall......

Keyserling was the kicker for Marshall because Journell was suspended. In an indirect way, then, we can blame the misses on him. Keyserling was 0-3 on the day.
True, but if Beamer has one tragic flaw, it's loyalty.
I'm guilty of that myself-it is a double edged sword that has caused much strife. When someone performs poorly, you give them another chance and articulate your expectations. But if they continue to do so, and you allow it-it's your issue and not so much their's. That's why I'm a horrible business person.
Beamer rewards hard work and effort and stick to-it-tiveness, but frequently over poor results.
Not a criticism, perhaps, but an observation.
One of my life goals is to do a flyover at Lane....now if we can only get the government in order to have flyovers reinstated! On a happier note, the Blue Angels are going back to an active performance status for 2014!
Yeah so today is the first day back to this board since...yeah. I've been been way too sad to even look at anything with a V or a T. Stayed away for a day recollected my thoughts realized it's not the end of the world and so on and so forth. But I realized why we lost. It's my fault. I watched the game with my girlfriend. Everytime we watch a game together since we graduated and started doing the whole long distance thing, we lose (with the exception of #LOLUVA, but that's the exception that proves the rule right?). So I take full responsibility for the loss. I should know by now it's either her or nice things. This is why we can't have nice things.
sorry everyone. I went to add more, And It all didn't come out the way i wanted. Just fixed it
true, it was disappointing, but Dadi did a good job in his place. Exum and Kendall really stepped up too. Anyways, its not like we lost because of our defense...
This game reminded me of a few others I saw in years gone by. Temple 98, JMU 10, Cincinnati 95. All of them had some of the same tell-tale signs; missed opportunities in the red zone, over confidence etc. etc. We'll be fine. Wouldn't want to be on the practice field this week though.
true, but Journell also has a much more limited skill set. He ONLY does place kicking. Doesnt punt, doesnt do kick offs, and doesnt have to read defenses or know plays like the rest of the players on offense. And its not like we are talking about 1 or 2 missed kicks over the course of the year here. He was pretty clutch (at least <40 yds in) last year, and is extremely inconsistent this year
We need to incorporate the fake fake sneak! Look at the armband and then QB sneak. But in all seriousness, did opposing players notice Logan looking or not looking at his wristband? I know the commentators pointed it out on TV but with everything going on on the field, I'd be surprised for a defensive player to notice.
But Im sure defenses know that if he looks at his armband its not a sneak, and if he doesnt it is... so surprise advantage negated
wait, so what was your main point? What are you coming clean about? Is this one of those goofy "I quit and want everyone to know" threads? I dont get it
This post is not what I expected. Hahaha
Crowder was matched up a couple of times from what I noticed (I'm not the most observant, but it happened a few times). Seemed like he wasn't a primary read most of the time though.
I also noticed that Kendall seemed to be playing outside leverage most of the game. Is that the technique he's supposed to use at boundary corner?
Him not running probably doesnt make those ints go away this game. Limiting his running would be nice, yes, but would result in us having another sub 50 yd rushing game in all likelihood.
I agree that in the long run, running the qb will get them banged up and can cause their throwing to suffer, but LT was coming off a bye week after resting and never really had a big hit that caused me to worry. Lets just hope we get a running game from our RBs by the time he leaves, because the rest of our QBs on our roster cant carry the ball like him

Worsham is a good, familiar name for VT football, anyways.
