I know it was the orange effect, but those were pretty awful. The effects are for the fans/stadium, I don't see why it matters if our jerseys match the 'effect.'
That was one of the first things I noticed was #42 missing from the sidelines. I think his presence was missed. Dadi plays balls to the wall from start to finish but someone like J.R. brings a level of discipline(smarts) that complements the line. Just finally getting around to catching up on threads, so I'm glad it's not from injury, but disappointed it was a non football reason he missed the game.
I would say that LT is a QB, but he is being asked to play as both a QB and as a RB. Having him carry the ball 20 times in addition to passing is plain stupid IMO. LT needs to concentrate and being a good passer, and not get the crap beat out of him running the ball as much as a featured back would run. Ditch the read option please, and hand the ball off to the guys on scholarship to run the ball. We have 3-4 good ones, last time I checked. I do not buy the argument that LT is a TE, not a QB. He played QB 2 years in high school and now 4 and a half years at VT. He is a QB, but he needs to stop being a RB as well. #LT4QBnotRB
I, for one, am really looking forward to VT having a QB who's job it is to read defenses and throw passes. I strongly believe that Logan's running the ball constantly takes away from his ability to pass effectively. I cannot count how many times I saw LT choose to run on the read option plays (granted all I know I have learned from French). Almost every one of those option plays I was praying for LT to hand the ball off and let the RB's do the work they are on scholarship for. I think LT has no confidence in the RB's and chooses to keep the ball b/c he believes that he is the best option to run the ball. Having the QB run the ball 20 times is bound to nick him up a bit and take away from his ability to read the defense, identify the open receiver, and deliver the ball on target.
I would like to see Loeffler restrict LT to only running the ball less than 10 times per game, and not at all if we are winning. I believe that if the RB's are going to learn how to have success, they have to get the carries they need in order to learn their position. LT is not a great RB, he is not fast, he is not shifty, he is a bull to tackle, but that's it. Giving LT the option to run or hand-off results in LT running the ball more than 50% of the time. I would love to see some stats on how often LT has kept the ball on all of the option plays this year. I know that I saw multiple times during the Duke game when LT kept the ball for a minimal gain when his RB option ended up running into empty space, that would have resulted in a nifty gain.
Just my uneducated opinion, but I don't blame LT for all the INT's b/c he was asked to do too much in the Duke game, he needs to concentrate on being a good passer and Loeffler needs to take away his ticket to run and start using the RB's in a pro-style attack out of the I or pro set a whole lot more. Count me as done with the read option, it just doesn't work well with LT b/c defenses are keying on him since he keeps the ball so often. Yes, I know he had 100 yards rushing, but is it worth 4 INT's? Me thinks not. #LT4QBnotRB

Yeah, wrong recruiting and no talent are two completely different things. For example, a prius engine is a great engine. It's very fuel efficient, and it has a very low propensity for catching fire (a major design flaw in several similar models). However. In a ford F-350 that engine doesn't make any damn sense.
To be fair, nobody was really expecting anybody to commit this weekend.

At this point, I'm not quite sure. Losing to Miami would've hurt less and been better for us in the rankings, but would've out of the acccg almost certainly...
But losing to dookie...that hurt, a lot. And killed our ranking. But we are still in contention for the coastal..
Both are terrible outcomes..
If I had to choose, I pick losing to duke and beating Miami.
Journal is an easy target based upon his struggles this year and the off field issues, but the past few years he was solid. And let's face it, he has to perform EVERY time he's on the field; no chance to get a rhythm like the rest of the team. That's his job and I'm sure he gets it. Truly frustrated by his results but I'm sure not more than him. Logan, on the other hand, does have the chance to find a rhythm, and just can't seem to make most of it. Sure, he has grit, will, etc. But he's not the QB we need, ironically despite his records. He's not alone in terms of disappointing play, but since he touches the ball more than anyone, he gets the glory and the blame.

The defense is great but it's surprising that they only have one touchdown return..we get tons of turnovers but no scores..

I grew up a Navy brat, and almost went that way myself. Great thread you've got going, and hopefully some of these cadet pilots can touch base with you guys for advice. VT has a strong aviation history, made up by soldiers and sailors like yourselves.

1994. DeShazo threw 5 interceptions. Only year where Gary Tranquill was OC, bustle had left to be OC at USC for a year and that game almost directly led to his rehire.

If you've watched any Miami football this year, you'll realize they're terrible! Squeaking out a win over 1-5 UNC and WF in their last two games tells me this Miami team is going to get a reality check soon. I could actually see LOLUVA beating them again this season.
Hopefully they are top 10 when we play, and I like our chances against them more than Dook (and BC). Unfortunately, our offense will have to get better to win out.
This thread is what I look for on TKP. Was looking forward to some level-headed, positive yet realistic reactions to the game. I hate the negativity you get on most fan sites and I was really disappointed in most of the threads yesterday, had to stay off twitter all night. Thanks for this though
