I really appreciate that. As a fellow guitarist myself, I completely understand where you're coming from and wholeheartedly agree. There's definitely some adjustments that can be made to make this idea better and probably more accurate. But if I'm being honest, I'm probably going to take a little break from this research, if only for a little while. Don't wanna get too burnt out on it.

Last week I said I felt great about my picks and that terrified me. Just as I suspected, I managed to go 1-5. So here we go again:

UCF
Florida
UCLA
Auburn
Arizona State
FSU

Loovul burned me last week, let's try it again!
Mizzou - Florida is so overrated. Still think a VT-UF game would end 4-2, Hokies.
Stanford - I think they got caught looking ahead.
The cash machine - aTm
UDub in a bounce-back game drubbing
Klempsun - we must complete our revenge season.

My girlfriend and I are in Prices Fork by at least 7am pretty much every game (parking is free before 7am as the parking ticket people aren't out yet.) I also tailgate with the four wheel drive club sometimes, so they all park their jeeps out the night before and save spaces. With the help of students on here we could theoretically have enough people park the night before to reserve a large enough space.

Like you say above, the essentials are alcohol and food (mainly alcohol.) Besides that all you need are people for a successful tailgate. It also would be cool to have a Key Play sign or something so everyone knows exactly where to go.

I also wonder just how much of what he displays in public is showmanship vs. what he's like for real. Any HC at big school has to project a certain energy to keep donations flowing, fans excited and involved, recruits excited to come play for you, etc. Good showmanship has got to be an asset on some level.

He's been able to demonstrate being worth taking a chance on multiple times before without really having a background resume to show he's qualified for the job. That usually only happens when you've got a way of showing yourself to be competent in whatever you do.

He probably wasn't really ready to be a head coach when he got the Clemson job, but he's grown into a guy that can build their program up.

It's funny to think that UVA's 1990 football team (which was ranked #1 in the country at one time) lost to the Hokies! After a 7-0 start and a #1 national ranking, the Wahoos lost four of their last five games to finish 8-4; one of those losses was a 38-13 beatdown in Blacksburg.

Wahoos still love to talk about that one time when they were ranked #1 in the country, and I love to tell them that that same team was defeated by the Hokies. In fact, I saw a newspaper article a few years ago that ranked the Top 5 UVA football teams of all time. #1 on the list was the 1990 squad and #2 was the 1995 team. So UVAs two greatest football teams of all time were BOTH beaten by the Hokies!

I can't go. This living in East Alabama and no real projection of future schedules in my work really puts a damper on my traveling. However, if Joe sets up a paypal donation thingy I'll gladly contribute $5 for the cause.

Team stayed at that hotel for the Louisville stomp game played em both.

Not sure how much you want to know, but he takes a shot at UVA's practice at using 3rd parties to influence kids in the 757.

Here's a snippet of Teal's article:

Beamer also states his views on various college football issues, among them recruiting, where he takes a none-too-veiled shot at Virginia, a rival his Hokies have defeated nine consecutive years. In comparing the proliferation of offseason 7-on-7 combines and tournaments to summer basketball, Beamer notes the rising influence of third parties on prospects.

Will happily host any TKP Hokie at my course in Hawaii, Prince Course at Princeville Golf Club!

Yes, yes it is. That and chortling over the UT game at Bristol.
Good news is they are 4-2 in moral victories this year!

Nice analysis! It leads me to believe we can develop a stat for for those passes "out of reach"? We would have to exclude "throw-aways" based on no one being open and simply throwing the ball away to avoid a sack. I would like to see a real number on "out of reach" where there WAS time, a bona fide throw to try to complete, only to be out of reach.

My guess is Logan still has way too many out of reach passes. He has improved, but he has also missed some really easy gimmes where the receiver was wide open and he just was not accurate.

I wen through this scenario over on the bowl predictions thread, but in summation, a lot has to happen. We would definitely have a solid resume, but major things would need to happen. Some of them I think are possible. I think Ohio State could drop a game. Northwestern gave them quite a fight. They could very well lose the game against Michigan or perhaps Penn State. Stanford could beat Oregon as well. LSU could beat Bama. Too many things have to happen for us to get in, even with our only loss being to Bama. I follow a mindset of "what have you done for me lately" and in that scenario, we would be one of the hottest teams in the country riding a 12 game winning streak, but there are way too many other variables. Let's revisit this after November 9th when we have played Miami, Bama has played LSU, and Oregon has played Stanford. After that, the other major games are Championship weekend, A&M/LSU, and Ohio State/Michigan.

Is this what UVA is going to now?

"We were #1 in football and basketball, at one point, back in the 80's, and not even at the same time, but then Chaminade beat us in basketball."

I second that. In a world where people give up at the first sniff of adversity or constantly blame others and want handouts I can apperciate his work ethic. He deserves everything good that has came and may come his way.

Good catch on Mizzu and aPm. Thought I had them on the list...
And I included the co-champ year for GT. Hey, that counts for something!
