Correction, not free. The fee is hidden in the Student Athletic Fee, which is part of your semester payment to the university. Makes it even worse in my opinion.
With the playoff format moving forward, do you keep the same opinion? Seems like it would be more beneficial to be winning the conference games.
I think he is leery of picking us. He has been on the VT wagon in the past and been burned. In fact, there is a video where a bunch of analyst roundtable, and Kirk said a lot of good and that we would be a top team that season (I'm sure someone can find the video), and we went 7-6. So can you blame him for not getting behind us yet?
Edit: Thanks to HokiePower for posting this below. I'll embed it for ease of use:
Every year it seems we have the same debates over our own ranking. We're our own worst critics. If we watched half of the other top-25 teams and painstakingly obsessed over them like we do our own, I am sure we all would feel better about our "deserved" spot in the polls no matter how potent our offense is.
Michigan anyone?
I dislike UVa and Miami for different reasons.
With respect to UVa, yes, I prefer them to remain bottom-feeders in the conference. Eventually they will stop wasting talented recruits that we should otherwise be getting. TimeCop can only sell the "be the start of my dynasty" so long before it will die. If UVa has hope every year, so too does that sales pitch, denying us extra talent that could be used on a national level. I dislike UVa for thinking they're superior every chance they get, and failing.
Miami fans are just jerks, and they cling desperately to the past to seem relevant. Every time they've come into Lane they act like they own it. Every Miami fan I have met has been crude and disrespectful. I'll give it right back, but only if they start it. For that reason, I want to pound Miami into the ground every year. Their decade-old claim to a national title is nice and all, but it hasn't mattered for a long time.
seriously, what's with these dudes, even their own QB is annoyed.
never had to interact with Clemson fans directly, but judging from this not too big a loss:
Boo - I want UVA to be a doorstop. I want Maimi to be good and lose to us, because we don't compete with them for recruits, and I don't have to be around their fans ever. I want the Wahoos to suffer endlessly, and I think never winning a game accomplishes that better. I want them beaten down, despondent, and with an empty stadium.
Watching their seniors cry on the sidelines after the game is one of the best parts. Its always an emotional game, and the Hokies always walk away showing they're the best in the state. The Hoos are everything the Hokies are not; undisciplined, entitled, and soft.
got you covered
But for both of those points, wouldn't it taste better if they thought they had a chance at a winning season, only to be beat by VT at the end?
I'd much rather have a ranked UVA each year, then some bottom feeder team. At this point, my hatred for the U is much stronger.
The Colin Cowherd rants are a must watch too
Look up last years show for Ohio state its the video game themes one, if y'all could do a turkey formation that moves like the horse it'd be so cool
I agree. I loved it when they thought they had a chance and then 38-0.
The Hokies may or may not be a wrecking ball but we know #34 sure is.
Kyle's always jumping routes, which puts him out of position to defend the double-move deep ball. That's the way he's supposed to play it with a D-line that gets to the QB. I'm glad he does, that's why this secondary has as many INTs as all of last year.
Remember last year when offenses were converting 3rd downs while he was guarding against the deep ball? (FSU game) That's the alternative of an attacking defense. I'm much happier seeing the corners jump routes and the safeties blow up the deep routes. It's been very effective against the spread teams we've been playing, and worked pretty well against Pitt and Alabama's Pro-style offenses.
Spectacular BeamerBall display that whole game.
I don't always go to the Sabre, but when I do, I make sure to bring popcorn. Anyone else think they're gluttons for punishment, for even having Football section?

Are you fucking kidding me? I was at the '07 game in practically the top row of Memorial Stadium, and I was seriously worried that someone was going to toss me over the edge. Scared-for-your-life stuff, courtesy of Death Valley.
You always wear eye-pro when going to do battle.
A lot of the teams ahead of us play one another. I'm not saying it's a definite, but we will at least jump a spot or two.
I always wondered why KJ used the plastic eye-shield.
Now I know: It's there to keep his victim's snot out of his eyes.
That was fantastic.
Someone somewhere asked "How come we don't play more canned tunes like other stadiums?".
The Marching Virginians. That's why.
+1 for Wayne's World reference

Not bad, considering all the sacks and Defensive play we had that game. I'm sure that was fun for him to see. Plus, Bruce is always a presence now.
