Well remember, Miami is back, right? According to those brilliant ACC bloggers on ESPN who do in depth analysis on all teams in the conference and the teams they play. What a joke. Anyway, looking forward to us stuffin the triple option on Thursday.

If we're overrated then Michigan better be on that damned list. Honestly we're probably right where we deserve to be around #30 because we can be good, but other than defense we haven't really shown much of anything.

Yeah, they just look at the box score and nothing else then run their mouth about how sloppy we played all day. I take it they didn't check the weather for that day, hard to play anywhere near perfect ball in the pouring rain for 3 hours.

Didn't get to see UNC vs GT but against Duke, GT threw 4 touchdowns and ran play action pass a little (I was like GT in play action, haven't seen that in the PJ era). Vad Lee seemed to be a QB that can do more than just run the option. GT hasn't had that since Reggie Ball. Against Nesbit and Washington the pass couple years it has been easy to just focus on beating the option, our corners might have to keep there WR assignments under closer watch than in past years until the QB crosses the line of scrimmage.

We can't win the GT game in the eyes of the media....GT can lose the game, but we can't win it. And re: Marshall, the thought is that 3 OT's with Marshall? When Marshall wins the C-USA title with 9 or 10 wins, perhaps the media will understand the line score. Most just look at the game summary and fill in the rest with their imagination.

Me too. The straw I'm grasping at is that the veteran with the youtube video, (Rodrigquez?) was going to be allowed to walk on after completing his Associates Degree. He was a non-qualifier out of H.S. too. That is the guy that Clemson stole by making a big deal of pursuing a waiver from that Associates Degree requirement for him.

Anyway, he was basically a JUCO recruit, and if we were ready to let him on the team, after he became NCAA-eligible, why not Harris?

My wife saw an HGTV show with someone who had dogs named Beamer & Foster....just curious. And a turkey leg for your dog names!

I tend to agree with knowles. He has speed, but he doesn't get to utilize it. I don't know if it is lack of confidence, but he doesn't have the moves to make anyone miss. I'm hoping it is a confidence issue.

Its not a huge surprise. He played there last year against GT. His tackling skills are very useful. Coverage won't be as big of a concern throughout the game as tackling near the LOS

Being from Georgia, I suspect Brandon Facyson has seen GT's O -- or several like it -- quite a bit during his HS days.

Kendall Fuller has Kyle as an informant.

Unless I'm forgetting someone, those are the only starting defensive freshmen. Everyone else has been here long enough to see their offense.

I want to say he played there in either '10 or '11 and did pretty well.

You put LT3 under center on 4th and 1 and every single person in the stadium knows it's a sneak. I actually didn't mind the playcall there. Spread em out and keep the defense from stuffing 9 guys between the tackles. Just gotta execute better.

I said I think... I am not sure to be honest. Bitter was who I remember tweeting/blogging about it. On All-Access Wiles was talking about if a kick gets blocked what to do if the ball is behind or advanced beyond LOS. I don't know if Wiles takes punt block and HCFB takes return, or if Wiles just helps.

And yes - the KO returns and punt returns have not been spectacular, but they haven't been dreadful either (compared to punt coverage and kick coverage giving up TDs). I also think they are a product of the lack of experienced athletes we have on KR and Jarrett trying to hard- not blocking/formation schemes.

Don't waste your time with ESPN. Or Bleacher Report. Even then, respect is earned, not given.

Oh I definitely agree with this. My point is that I disagree that Marshall is the caliber team we should be bench marking our satisfaction to winning on. I don't mind ugly wins. I don't care if we win in overtime every time but Marshall is not going to be playing for the championship. I expect us to be playing those type of teams close like this, not Marshall, or we will never get close to filling that empty trophy case.

Don't get me wrong though. I have full confidence in this team. I love the way they play as a team.

I wonder, I think it may take more than just a win over GT - I think we may have to run it all the way up to and through Miami.

In 2008 we lost to ECU, barely beat Furman and WKU and still ended up winning the ACC. Don't sweat these games too much.

The short week is a pretty big deal. We have gotten extra film watching in but you also need tons of full-speed reps against that offense. Still, it is nearly impossible to replicate the speed of that offense, as well as the technique they use up front, specifically on the veer blocking by the OTs. We basically have Monday and Tuesday to get full-speed reps and Wednesday will be a walk-through.

Fortunately, we have a front 7 that has all seen this offense multiple times (Not including our backups) and that should really help negate our disadvantage.

That call was the only one that I didn't really like. I would have had LT under center for the sneak (one step back, and hard toward the goal line off of Miller's hindquarters).

I was watching that play thinking "Stiney must be getting on Loeffler's nerves

But I had to chuckle when I saw this. I can imagine the following conversation...

Steiny: "Aw, c'mon Scot, I know that Logan can get it if we put him in the gun and sneak it!"

Loeffler: "Geez, you won't give up on that, will you? Fine! You know what, I'm gonna call that down and show you for once and all!" (On phone to Grimey) Run the QB sneak from the gun. (back to Steiney) There! You good now?"

Grimey (on the phone): You sure about that Scot?

Loeffler: Yeah.

Steiny: Yes! I know it's gonna score!

(crowd noise; up then an audible "aww" from the crowd)

Loeffler: Are you ready to shut up now?

Steiny: (an inaudible curse)
