Totally agree with your statement as well. There was no need to call us "overrated" especially when you look at the cupcakes the underrated teams played (Seriously, Baylor?).
That being said - with the 4 team playoff upcoming, if we win our games, win the ACCCG, we are in. No matter what. ESPN may whine about it (we all remember Herbie and the Sugar Bowl) but the majority of writers and coaches will most likely be behind us.

I wonder since the GT v Miami game is TBD, if the powers that be are waiting to see if GT wins Thursday...and if they do, give them the 3:30 ABC, or 8 pm ESPN game.

Think about it. We are 'Hokies.' Our school is not on the coast, or in a metropolis. We don't have the coolest school colors or a Tiger mascot. Our coach isn't the highest paid lastest thing, and we certainly don't embrace the latest and greatest wrinkles in spread offenses. We rarely get the 5 star athletes.
We are a set-up for mediocrity if there ever was one.
Except....we win a heck of a lot more than we lose, with a heck of a lot less.

While I agree with your sentiment, I don't like that we're getting dogged the way that we are. I do like being the underdog and I think it really gives our players a chip on their shoulders that helps them to play better, but we're about to enter an era of football where perception is everything. I don't want to be the team that analysts are talking about being overrated when those same "analysts" have to pick the 4 best squads in the nation to compete for the national title. I don't know about everybody else on here, but I really want to see VT get a national title at some point. And as long as we're being talked about with this amount of disrespect we'll never even get that chance.
Bottom line is that we need to go out and win ball games. But it's still frustrating when we're being picked on for no reason. (Overrated? we're not even ranked... WTF?!?!)
