On the big screen for the first time too - and I wasn't wearing a shirt either! Commitment to white out (nice and pale w/o a shirt)! What section were you in?

This. Some FSU fans on another board were saying he's becoming another Bowden. I don't want to see him forced out like Bowden was.

I think he realizes it's now or never. He has 3-5 years to do it.

I think they are just upset with home noon games. Not the road ones.

Rocco that's a really good question, I've seen Debbie Yow do it, but she's a AD. So I wouldn't say it couldn't happen, but I can say that it would take a lot for that to happen. And as fans I know we pick on Weaver a lot, but it doesn't show how he's perceived by his peers or the people at Tech.

Until Ebron got hurt that is. He's a big player for them. Since I was so focused on our game though, I didn't pay attention to see if he came back. It seems that Cline is the only TE making plays for us though. I was DPM out there several times, but Cline is the only one catching passes. I wish we had 2 threats at TE, but Cline will have to step up into the spotlight.

So apparently, GT will be wearing a "throwback" jersey to celebrate the 100th anniversary of their field. Is there a way we can get one of these for LT3 to wear? QBs who the fans don't like tend to do pretty well wearing the other team's jersey.

GT

Here's my question- who at VT would be able to force Beamer out anyway? No one likes Weaver and there would be disorder in Blacksburg if he tried. Steger probably could but he's retiring- does anyone think a brand new president would have the desire to pick a fight shortly after taking the post by forcing out the legendary coach?

I think we've seen a couple plays here and there (see the Bama game as well as the pin and pull concept here), as well as a lot of the playaction stuff from the offseason. What I really want to see is playaction off the inside/outside zone to hit Cline in the seam. We haven't done much/any of that, but UNC TORCHED GT with the TE in the seam on Saturday.

Yep, I was equally as fired up in my living room. You could read his lips, funny! Go Beamer!

GT lost three defensive starters against UNC. Maybe this helps us if they don't play or are dinged up. We are probably two TD underdogs so need a big game from the O and special teams.

When he threw his card at Willie for being on the field when he wasn't supposed to be was awesome as well.

And this is why I love this site - while I'm not versed in the intricacies enough to notice something like that, I'm sure glad that we have French and Mason to pick up on these things. While I've suspected that Loeffler knows what he's doing, I take it as a good sign that it's nuanced enough that casual fans like me don't pick up on those tendencies.

And that, I think, is what shows that Loeffler will eventually end up being a stellar hire. His scheme is subtle, not flashy, but with the right personnel it could be a very effective offense.

The problem with not showing "it" is also not using "it" in a real game. Without game time experience how will it work if it is broken out (if it even exists)? I think it is better to use it and get better at it, and dare anyone to stop it. It will only take a couple plays until the opposing DC makes adjustments.

I see this game as either a disaster or a Hokie romp. No 20-17 this year.

To stop GT you need a strong D front, that is no surprise. What I'm worried about if how guys are banged up from the Marshall game some. I know Jarrett (Rover) was hurtin there at the end, and that I saw Mr. J.R. slow to get up on some plays, but maybe he was just exhausted. On O, I saw Edmunds and Wang were hurt, does anyone know the status on these injuries or anyone else?

You may notice when our red zone woes started. Admittedly, this also lines up with the season after Newsome's hiring, but still, killing "stick it in, stick it in, stick it in" had a significant effect on our red zone production.

Is there anyone else who can kick? I know Myer is gone, but he was just the kicker for kickoffs, right? He did a nice job in the Sugar Bowl until OT.

Like someone else said, I do like going for it on 4th down more. Paul Johnson likes doing it. Boise State liked doing it... And I'm fine with it if we're outside of the 20 yard line. With Logan's arm why not just bomb one into the endzone? If Coles can step up he would fit well in that role. At best its 7 points. At worst its like a punt. (Unless the DB is so mindful of field position that he just bats it down... but I think many of them are just eager to get a pick)

I heard you guys and it made me happy.

Riddled with freshmen? Pretty sure it's the opposite. We've got 2 freshmen corners who are both very advanced for freshmen, a senior-laden front and Kyshoen Jarrett (assuming he's healthy). We'll be alright on defense, barring any freak plays/busted assignments/missed tackles.

A group of us did it in section 3 of East stands (I don't remember at what point during the game though - it's becoming one sopping wet and crazed fog. Without alcohol, too). But yea, everyone thinks you're crazy for doing it.

The Pitt game is the only home game I have to miss this year because of a stupid wedding (seriously, who has a wedding during football season?) So that game is guaranteed to be at least a 3:30 kickoff.

Well if you were implying it was because he was stoned I don't think that would have been the problem. I don't blaze anymore but when I did I became extremely "present" in whatever I was doing. If anything, I think that would help a kicker. (I guess he could have "zoned out" though... lol)
