If you're wondering if Beamer still gets fiery, here's his reaction to the phantom block-in-the-back penalty on VT's #22, which is a number that doesn't exist on the active roster.

I don't know how old everyone on this site is but I can tell you without Coach Beamer this program would probably be on par with Old Dominion. He built this program and I think he deserves to step down when the time is right. I also believe he won't drag it out. He is conscious about his legacy and don't believe he wants to ruin that.

Yes, they went to school together, and had been "hooking up for TDs" for years...I think they said 6? Maybe 7?

I was looking at that first clip and all I could think was that if Gus Johnson had called this game it would be the greatest game of all time.

The reason that pass was tipped is that Byrn ran an awful route. He should have run straight to the pylon off the rub routes, and Logan throws it to the outside shoulder. Instear, Byrn ran towards the back corner. Logan had to throw it to him (he was open) but the angle of the throw gave the Marshall defender who was playing robber coverage a chance to make a play.

If Byrn runs straight to the pylon along the goal line, we are not even having this discussion. Logan had one horrendous throw all day (the first interception.) I am convinced that his arm or the ball was hit on the second INT, but it was the correct check down read.

+1 for the statassist. I was pretty sure that the only previous 2+OT game was against Syracuse, because I remember that one distinctly but couldn't think of any others.

I tried to start that at the end of regulation yesterday and half the people in the stands looked at me like I was crazy.

"the talent is there" uhhh..defensively YES. Offensively? not so sure about that. We have a slew of talented TEs on offense, but we're otherwise lacking somewhat on that side of the ball. We'll really need a mistake free game to get out of this one with a W. And with LT averaging 1.5 Picks per game we're going to REALLY need our defense to play solid assignment football.

I was watching that play thinking "Stiney must be getting on Loeffler's nerves...that seems to be a call he made to NOT be Stiney." I know it's what everyone was thinking...half a yard to go with a tall heavy ass QB, and you set him 3 yards back? There's no way this works.

If it did, we would have been a little more okay with it, but still very upset...

I'm convinced that getting rid of "stick it in stick it in stick it in" has cost us games.

we can complain about the officiating all day long...and I really do think that these refs were particularly bad, but Marshall also has plenty to complain about. If the refs are indiscriminately bad it's not as infuriating as if they're calling everything one way or the other. I have said for about the last 5 years that ACC refs seem to be among the worst. This particular crew didn't appear to know what was going on for most of the game. There were some bad calls and even worse no-calls but it went both ways. At this point nothing can be done about it on TKP so there's not much use in us continuing to discuss it. On to the next one.

TL;DR: Refs sucked. but we won. move on.

Made my day Thank You for posting!

No, not when we have a coach who is chill enough to do this

This one was just funny

They went both ways. Like most fans though, I only saw the ones that hurt us and breathed a sigh of relief when they didn't call things on us like Bonner's clear PI/holding.

So are they implying that we need a coach that can cheat all the way to elite status?

LONG LIVE THE FRANKINATOR!

Including one on Andrew Miller on the final two point conversation. It looked like he was setting the tackle up for a belly to back suplex.

Agree on that. He was absolutely on FIRE about that call.

I really don't believe he's one to keep pushing his luck with the rules. Might be time for a new kicker.

All of this talk about "not showing his hand to ACC" has me pretty worried. I don't want fans to get their hopes up and then tear Loeffler down when they don't see the changes that we're expecting on Thursday. We have to remember that Loeffler came in here 8-9 months ago and has nothing but TEs to work with. I wouldn't expect our playbook to blow open against GT. We may see new little wrinkles every week for the rest of the season but I doubt if there are any earth shattering changes from one week to the next. Give SL time to get this mess cleaned up. O'cainspringsome didn't leave him with a whole lot to work with and it's going to be a long process to get our offense to where it needs to be. There will be growing pains and I suspect that we'll struggle through ACC play.

I am, however, very hopeful that you are all right. I usually don't like to be wrong but in this case I really hope I am. I just don't want people to get ahead of themselves here and then call for Loefflers head if things don't go smoothly.

I was at those same games when Tyrod was a freshman/sophomore... and he made plenty of bone-headed plays those years, but was given a far longer leash considering who his QB competition was in Glennon. In Tyrod's sophomore year, he threw 2 TDs and 7 INTs... but because of his ability to run the football those years, he was forgiven for the most part. It wasn't until his junior year that he really even looked like a QB instead of an athlete playing quaterback.

And here's a fact: Tyrod was never asked to handle as much of an offensive load as Logan has. In Logan's first year as a starter, he attempted 391 passes and rushed the ball 153 times. Tyrod never reached either mark (and didn't even come close in pass attempts - his high was his senior year with 315 attempts). There's a number of reasons for this too:

1) Tyrod had four years of solid tailback play to rely on, while Logan had one year with David Wilson and well, we know how last year went. This year's been marginally better thanks to Edmunds, but it remains to be seen how the rest plays out.

2) Without a doubt, the playmakers surrounding Tyrod (and he himself) were far more capable of big-play potential. It's been said numerous times by the staff on this site that we have been lacking those types of players this year and last, especially on the WR front.

I'm sure there's plenty more that I could list, but I'm at work and should be doing that instead lol. Point is, Logan gets unfairly compared to past QBs when many within the last 10 years have had a better supporting cast. He's doing a lot of this with inferior talent, which SHOULD be that much more impressive... but alas, it is not. Oh well, I will defend him to the very end, mainly because all the nay-saying is reaching an all-time high and it's just getting tired at this point.
