Michigan finally returned all those four leaf clovers it stole during the Sugar Bowl. Boy we were lucky with so many missed calls... Hope the trend continues on Thursday.
I was at the GT game today, their D has improved but their secondary looked pretty weak and UNC's TE was wide open all day so Cline could be a factor for us. Even though they're throwing more, none of Lee's throws impressed me today; and they don't have a dominant WR like in years past. If they decide or need to throw more on Thursday our secondary should have a field day.
Also, I had to watch the end of our game in a box at Bobby Dodd with all GT people...that was rough guys. So glad we pulled out the win with them watching.
Thanks for the update
I hear you RD, and if I thought there was a better option at QB than I would likely support that player, but I don't think that guy exists right now. LT3 is the best QB we have, warts and all, and that's why he's starting. Being tall and having great arm strength may contribute to him throwing high at times, but when gets his throws at chest level, he throws a nice ball. Keep on coaching him up Lefty, we'll need some big throws to have a chance at GT.
The crowd definitely came alive when needed, especially towards the end. I think the lousy fans were just there taking up space and blocking the noise from the real fans. Once they thinned out, hell rained down on the field (no pun intended, but it worked out nicely).
I like the typo. It helps to drive the point home.
about the secondary: Foster always puts a lot of pressure on having his safteys cover in man (Chancellor was picked on a lot too). I wonder if once we get Exum back we will start switching to using Dime packages, though I dont think I have ever seen Foster use one before
I said I was gonna make one of these if we won today, so here

Funny, all I was hearing from everywhere today was that they had the #5 defense in the country. According to stats. Which always tell the absolute truth, right?
Logan's problem stems from starring down primary receivers and trying to make the big downfield throw. And his completion percentage and TD/INT ratio suffers from it. He's got to start hitting the crossing routes and RBs in the flat to open up those downfield passes. Those short throws are usually there (they were last week) and he hit them.
If Logan can start hitting the open receiver rather than the downfield receiver, there is still a chance to have a respectable offense this year. He needs to be more point guard and less power forward.
I will say that anyone who stayed past half was giving it their all. Lord knows my voice is shot, and despite the 40% or so empty stands between the NEZ, East stands and Corps there were plenty of students left willing the team on, I will say the sound was on par with Miami11 or FSU12.
One might say there were some TERRORDOME-esque defensive downs...
Welcome to the 700 Club, Hokies!
Yayyyy I was there. Folks down there were pretty good, aside from a few insults hurled at Marshall band members.
Can't wait to see this...
Big win for the #Hokies the 700th for the program, which sends Coach Beamer into a dance party in the locker room. Video to come later.— VT Football (@VT_Football) September 21, 2013
No doubt, I just don't think we've reached that point yet.
Agree with you completely. Bottom line is, there comes a time when excuses run out for a redshirt senior third-year starting quarterback.
I do think in fairness that it is important for me to point out that the concourse area was packed. A lot of people had gone in there to watch the game on the TV's because the rain was too much for them. Still, there were a lot of people leaving.
Logan could have been the next Jason Witten in the NFL in my opinion, if the COACHES had worked with what they had and done a little coaching instead of moving him... Think about it guys, Grant Noel was our QB for a year. With that said, this kid gives everything he has and I applaud that. Ultimately he has made one of the biggest team efforts ever and probably cost himself millions in the NFL because he did do what the COACHES asked. Not to say he still will not make millions in the NFL, might just take longer.
Ugly game to watch, but a W is a W go hokies!!!
THIS. The half of us that were left were louder than the whole at the beginning.
Hey, there was one point in the 4th when North was the only section making any noise, I heard it distinctly coming from that end. Half of the students that come to the games still care.
Hopefully the end of this game will convince some of the rest of them to stay the entire game next time. But, after today, I think I'm more disappointed in the alumni, even those on the East side.
Or maybe it was just because of the rain. Or because of Marshall. We'll find out for sure in 2 weeks.
Interesting Stat...
The HOKIE D held MU scoreless for all 3 OTs AND the final 39 mins of regulation.
(MU had 21pts with 9:06 left in the second.)
Thanks to big plays on D and STs!
Messy, tough, crazy, ugly and sometimes even pretty...
HOKIES FOOTBALL at its best!
GO HOKIES !!!!!
Beamer said on the post game that he suspended CJ this morning for a violation of team rules.
Again, I really think he thought he had a free play there (I sure thought he did) and took a risk that he normally shouldn't. Other than that, his decision-making looked pretty darn good today, had has for the last couple weeks. He's improving, which is about as much as we can expect from him right now. Once more, wait for ACC play and let's see how it goes.
First off, I really like Logan as a player, leader and as our QB. And I do not agree that Leal would be an improvement, he is a different player and will do some things better and some things worse. (I am looking forward to see him play next year though) The 2 things that continue to disappoint me about Logan as a QB are what you have succinctly addressed. 1) the inaccuracy issue, primarily throwing behind his receivers on crossing routes at times and on long balls, and 2) the decision-making errors when he throws into double coverage, especially when there are other receivers wide open.
I will say that Logan makes some great throws as well, especially when he is not pressured. I think his completion percentage suffers from the inaccuracy issue (as well as the drops, since the 2011 season shows what he can complete with good receivers.) His high rate of interceptions comes from a combo of bad decisions and receivers who don't battle for the ball enough. Still, he's the starting QB and I will keep on cheering for him and hope that he returns to late 2011 form sooner rather than later. I respect the heck out of him and believe that he leaves everything on the field when he plays. Go Hokies! (And thanks Logan for that last TD, great power run sir!)

YEAH BUT 3RD&LOGAN!!!
