me and wife also stayed and yelled as loud as we could. I lost my voice yelling at those fans leaving before the end
Yes. He won us the game in the end. He may not be the most accurate or intellectual passer, but sometimes all you need is a wrecking ball lined up behind center. He's a wildcat back who still has some level of passing ability.
LT isn't a natural QB, he's a great athlete. He can make freak athletic plays with his arm and legs, but he doesn't have the instinct to hit a crossing route on time or to lead a RB flare toward daylight. It's not a question of intelligence, this just isn't what he was born to do.
Maybe it never will be, or maybe he's waiting on Malcolm Gladwells "Rule of 20,000 hours to Master Anything" to kick in. He most assuredly won't hit that under VT in 2013 and he may not find an NFL team willing to work him a few years to get to that point. In a lot of ways, we did him a huge disservice by not prepping him for a life as an NFL TE because he was our best option at QB. I don't think I believe anymore that he will be any more than an intriguing talent at the next level. At the college level, he can still have stretches of dominance but you must find that elusive combination of plays that takes advantages of his skills and doesn't reveal his weaknesses.
(Pass for non students)
NEZ should be packed and students lingering during the week getting ready for Enter Sandman.
I have to leave this thread B4 this awesome win is spoiled ! ~8)
GO HOKIES!!!
Logan was never taught to check down to the easier routes. So he is apt to throw into coverage because *gasp* steinspring didn't run a "check down" offense. I won't say he is the best decision maker, but he is a decent game manager. I'd take him over a lot of previous VT QB's.
One $5 and one $10. I took even odds too, that's how confident I was. I said it earlier in the week somewhere on here that I saw some flaws in their punt protection last week against Ohio.
Who makes two $7.50 bets? :)
Glad you stayed but the NEZ actually didn't look full in the first quarter. I thnk at best, it was 80% full.
I love your dedication. +1
Totally true. The guy has given it all he has, and I know he is probably more frustrated than we are that things aren't going our way. That being said, jack tyler said in his postgames that this felt like the first time in forever that something finally went our way...perhaps this is a small turning point...a hard nosed victory can sometimes cue more fire than blow out wins.
in any case, if he doesn't make it as a QB he will make it as a TE and just has to avoid pulling a tebow and insist on QB play if he really can't do it. I think he can, but the former coaching staff screwed him over.
It was mainly the older people in the concourse. I can give them a pass on that one. When you're 21 the rain doesn't bother you. I get sick tomorrow? I don't care, I'll live. I can see how that's not something a 40 year old wants to do. The students leaving was a disgrace though.
I have a weird feeling that VT will win against GT by like a TD. I feel like today was a trap game against a very good team and that they will rebound nicely on Thursday.
I love it! On the 4th and inches when we dropped back in shotgun I threw the remote, pillows, anything that was around me, stormed off as Marshall held. Then proceeded to dress for her formal work dinner tonight... my wife concluded that it was a bad call on Tech's part because I had not consumed one adult beverage and she has never seen me ready for a formal dinner 6 hours early before...
The rain is no excuse.... it was predicted (and, it is Blacksburg) no suprises weatherwize.
Hanging out in the concourse watching it on TV is just as LAME as leaving.
ANYWAY
its a GREAT WIN and some great plays by the HOKIES
CLASSIC HOKIE FOOTBALL
GO HOKIES!
In regards to this, I thought Marshall did quite a good job of tackling and stopping momentum. Props to them for playing a great game.
My thoughts are blah blah blah and we still f&$@!?g won. Georgia tech = 701.
I wasnt there because I live 6.5 hours away and my job forces me to work 7 days a week. But you know what? I cant remember such a sad display in the NEZ in such a close game. Hence my commmentary. Watch it on TV and you will understand my frustration.
this sums up my post game reaction...
Yes, there was some physical discomfort, but even in jeans and a T-shirt, I was still having a blast. That game was so much fun. I'll never understand why people can't just enjoy the experience of the game.
I doubt the people who leave read the key play, but yea its sad
As horrible as conditions were for throwing the football and considering he still had some very pretty throws today, I'd say this is valid. Not to mention 1st/2nd/3rd-and-Logan the last quarter or so and OT.
Amen but the stands were that empty after halftime...
I cant imagine a there is a better place to be than the NEZ stands as a student.
Maybe VT should start recruiting FANS - or have students make a pledge to stay at the games.
Sounds lame but not as lame as hangin out in the dorms or watching empty stands on TV for an awesome game and atmosphere.
GO HOKIES!
That's how I saw it too - those two final runs in the third overtime, you could tell his body language was "Give me the ball and get everyone out of my way, I'll do it myself." Loved it!
Keep in mind he had 4 years of QB coaching without anyone coaching him about going through progressions. It's still very new to him and he's definitely getting much, much better at it.

Intangibles is what you cite when data isn't on your side.
(his point isn't wrong though, LT is rough right now but next year will be an absolute cluster at QB)
