Irish, Scottish, and Welsh here. The ginger is strong in my family

They also used to take alot of guys who had got in trouble and screwed the pooch at previous schools or in high school. Questionable character types if you will. Everyone deserves a second chance but some of those guys were rough. It used to be just like they said in the movie We are Marshall, "We are Marshall, we will take anyone. " I attend college in WV in the late 90's and made stops all over the state and visits to other colleges. I can honestly say it is a beautiful state and they absolutely know how to party up there. I also can say that like mentioned above they take it a little far. The most widespread drug abuse I have ever witnessed in my life. Overall though I enjoyed my experiences in WV and would love to have the time to go back and visit places like Charleston, Bluefield, and Beckley. People take shots at WV all the time and for good reason but I love it up there. To each his own I guess. True story, my first 30 minutes of college class was my professor who was a WV native, telling WV jokes. He's said, "might as well get this out of the way now. "

I had forgotten that they auction the uniforms (since it's white out and military weekend, does that mean the proceeds are split between IFH & Herma's Readers?). I agree that better looking uni's would probably garner higher bids.

I also vaguely remember the ref also immediately left the field and wept into his yellow flag inside his rental Corolla....or that's what I would expect the reaction to be after foster calls you a cunt.

That happened to me in Randallstown, Maryland also. It was the oddest thing.

Respect to your grandma. And who would blame her? Ah, to kiss lips that have kissed Amy Grant...

Did...did I overshare?

I can add something interesting to this discussion: Hows Marshall Became Good At Football.

The first thing we noticed about Marshall in the late 90s was, a number of VT-UVA recruits who didn't qualify academically ended up at Marshall. How could Marshall admit so many quality athletes who would have been partials or non-qualifiers at VT or UVA?

The answer is simple - until 2008, they had their own junior college.

This is also the reason they 'fell from grace' - when the NCAA changed their rules on partial- and non-qualifiers, Marshall's edge in this area went away.

I found an old article that addresses this somewhat:

Ah Yes Huntington, WV...

Well my wife - who is a Hokie grad like myself - was born and raised in Huntington, WV. As someone who has been to the town well over 100 times I can tell you a few key items:

- The best resturants in town are Roccos Italian and Everonies Pizza (both of which are like 5 minutes outside of town in a Community named Cereto-Kenova. Seriously these are some of the best pizza and itilian joints I have ever had and I've had my fair share of food from around the globe).
- The actual town of huntington does not have much for food (or shopping, or entertainment other than redneck events at the Big Sandy Supercenter - most decent places are outside of town)
- There is seriously a big drug sniffing epedemic - probably the most burnt out druggies per capita in the USA - they call it little detroit
- We got married in the downtown area of the city - we saw a guy do a line of blow from the top of an Arby's cup lid right in the middle of the street as we walked to our ceremony - stay classy Huntington
- Also, Tutors tastes amazing but will give you instant heart burn and probably take years off your life. There is one lone franshise outside of WV - it is located in Roanoke downtown I believe on Church street - it is much classier and laid out like a coffee shop and all the names of the sandwiches are changed to Hokie themes!! Seriously!

He actually got in a fight with his brother during the game. His bro was a DB and got a 15 yarder for a little extracurricular activity after the play. Haha!

I'm reminded of a time when my friends and I were asked to sit down and quiet down...in LANE...by some older fans behind us that "just wanted to watch the football game".

That's what the TV is for. Stay home if you don't want to be part of the 12th man and help provide the home field advantage.

I once stopped at a KFC in Jane Lew, West Virginia, that was out of chicken.
