However, Dinwiddie head coach Billy Mills told NBC12 Sunday night that Marshall has informed him that he is still a member of the Hokies football team. Marshall told Mills during a phone conversation on Sunday night, after initial reports broke.
Mills also says that Marshall was never in any sort of trouble in regards to his status with the team
I hope he does stay. The guy has DE size and athletism, but is moving inside, "to take one for the team" as Coach wiles would put it, because the guys who should be stepping up there, are not. Once Gayle and Collins graduate I believe that Corey Marshal will secure a starting role at the DE position where he should finish his career as a Hokie. He would be a sore lose in my opinion.

I know people were saying 'next guy up' etc etc, but if we are being honest with ourselves, a team can only take so much attrition before the wheels start to fall off. Marshall staying will be huge to keep our DLine as a strength this year and next
It's significant but not devastating, from what I've heard. At the very least, we can go with Kendall at nickel full-time if things don't work out with Trimble. Having a small guy at that position isn't necessarily a bad thing. See how Foster used Tweedy last year.

This will hurt next year. But as long as Harley and Ekanem step up and develop into starters to go along with Dadi and Maddy, the d-line will be fine. Williams, Baron, and Smith should all be solid players and hopefully one of them develops into a star. Roth and Dooley should also provide depth. Add in potentially Teller in his second year, Mihota, and hopefully Walker and/or Nnadi, and the defensive line at Virginia Tech will still be a strength.

In the first clip, he is sacked on his 2nd progression. In the second clip, he threw to the 3rd progression. Third, it's a scramble, so it's a broken play and would have been better off throwing it away. Fourth, he threw to his 1st receiver. It was a quick play, so staring him down wasn't a huge issue. Fifth, he was looking right the whole time and hit his receiver on a crossing route, so he couldn't have stared down the receiver. Sixth, hit his first choice, probably should've looked the safety off, but the safety wasn't there anyways.
From these clips, he actually looked a lot better than his stats indicate. But damn, 5-15, 2INTs and 1 TD will not cut it. He really needs his receivers to step up.

I know that as a high school player that never went into a season as a starter but got a chance do to injury or eligibility. Obviously this is a diff level of the game but the premise is the same. Take advantage of the chance and make some waves and I feel we have guys that are just like that

It's as age old as the game. Kid plays one position his whole life. Is asked to move at a high level. Doesn't think he attains or is attaining the attention. Soul searching. Tells a "pal" shit is getting hard. Might want to jet. Etc.

I'd venture to say the beginning happens a lot. I can't imagine having the world on your shoulders for your family, etc, then having to read a skewed version of things on line.
