Agreed. I think we see him and Kirk Cousins getting a shot at a starting job in the next year.

I think there are way too many average/below-average starting QBs in the league right now to keep him on the sideline.

Moorehead said this the other day: "My goal is to bring D.J. along in stages and have him at full speed by the end of August." Seems like there may be some problems.

Then again I watched practice yesterday and he was full speed. Nothing looked wrong.

I was looking at a map and saw that I might be passing relatively close to Augusta on my way to Atlanta, depending on which way I decide to go. Is it worth stopping there? Can an average schlub see any part of Augusta National?

I really do think it's only a matter of time before he gets a shot. He's always been productive when given the chance.

I never wish injury on anyone and I won't on Flacco but I just really hope some situation arises that leads to either Tyrod being traded or getting a chance to start a meaningful game. The guy deserves it.

I've seen Hokie fans get quite rowdy too. The worst I saw was during a Miami game at Lane. I can't remember why, but I was late to getting to the game so I wasn't in Lane when Enter Sandman played. Apparently so weren't a lot of other people, which lead to a whole bunch of pushing and shoving because people wanted to get in the stadium before kickoff. The worst thing was I saw a pregnant woman get pushed up against the dividing fence behind the scoreboard, leading her to trip and fall down. Not one Hokie fan stopped to help her up or give her space. This lead to what I presume to be her husband to start freaking out and pushing anyone out of the way. I was too far in the sea of bodies to help quickly, so I shouted for people to move but that was easily drowned out by the loud crowd. Luckily for them a cop was near by and was able to help them out. Needless to say, if I were pregnant I probably would make sure to get in the stadium much earlier to avoid being rough housed, but thats me. Still perhaps the ugliest situation I saw at Lane.

From ESPN.com's recap:

1. FLACCO'S THE MAN, BUT ... : Ravens backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor directed two long drives that finished with touchdown passes to LaQuan Williams and Aaron Mellette. Baltimore has a solid running game with Ray Rice, however they have evolved into more of a passing team. Taylor showed he's capable of making some plays. Even more importantly, he got the offense into the end zone, albeit against Tampa Bay's reserves.

He won't be that line up outside wide and be a Calvin Johnson type WR.He was used as a slot guy mostly against Michigan to create mismatches. He did very well in that game. He will be used in that role this year. He will come out of the backfield, line up on the edge of the TE and work mismatches. He will be faster than the LBs and much bigger than any DB that tries to cover him.

Just had a similar talk with my friend. He was saying what you're saying but I think the fact that he was behind Coale/Boykin and still put up good numbers matters a lot. 36 rec 500 yards 3 TD is a pretty good year for the third receiver in a college offense and I think that's where the expectations come from. I think he's going to be the man this year (if he stays healthy) being the #1 guy, but I guess I understand the skepticism.

My boss is a 'Bama grad and I work with a few other 'Bama grads. They are top notch co-workers and intense but respectful 'Bama football fans.

I think it's a case of the actual graduates of the school are good peep's for the most part, while the rest are the typical SEC fans that have never set foot in a college or university classroom, and are ignorant idiots.

What has 10,000 legs and 6 teeth? The front row of seating at an SEC football game!

Oh - to answer the original poster's questions - my worst experience with opposing teams fans...UVA. Everyone of them that I have known, grads or not, were douche's.

I'm sorry but what do you have to do to get punched by your own fans? Especially when you're a woman?

I hope I'm eating crow on this in a few weeks, but I think the expectations for Coles are WAY too high and I don't see him having the type of year fans seem to be expecting from him. He showed promise in 2011, but he only has 500 receiving yards and 3 TDs for his career so it's not like he was 1st team All ACC before the knee injuries. I think he should have a decent year and be a solid player- just nowhere close to the game changing #1 receiver some fans seem to think he is/can be.

They can say all these types of things that they want, but what UVA lacks is a general commitment to winning. The Admin, the fans, the players.

From what I've heard, the Admin is completely comfortable going at least two more years with London. At least.

The Fans would hate this comparison to 'the U.' The only attention athletics get in Cville is for the negative stories. They want to fly below the radar.

The players themselves have already crossed that threshold of not caring about winning by picking UVA in the first place. When a player picks UVA, they are doing so because its a good education or they prepare for the NFL well or their buddies go there or it's closer to home.....none of those reasons are "winning." It's just lower on the list for a player who picks UVA.

while i've only hokies attack their own once, i've definitely seen hokies get out of line with fans of other schools plenty of times. many times, someone from our group have stepped in and stopped it, thats when i saw the hokie on hokie bs.

Hey Eli, that's probably because he doesn't have any rings or bowl wins to come at you with. I have no doubt he mentions his 1AA "national championship" and clearly he brings up championships to UVA players considering the scholarship offer letter that was posted said, "Virginia football has a winning tradition. We want you to help us continue to win conference championships and an opportunity to play for a National Championship!"

So yeah, it's kinda hard to play that card when you have nothing to back it up. He's forced to resort to other methods from his bag of tricks to lure recruits, but I guaran-damn-tee he'd be flashing rings and bowl wins if he had any.

worst i've ever experienced in person: maryland, at both lane and byrd. i really enjoy talking to fans of other schools, but if you talk a bunch of shit expect return fire from your boy. without getting too into both stories the bullshit started from the moment we sat down at both stadiums. hoo friends of mine concur about umd fans just going over the top. i wonder if the whole northeastern nfl fan mindset hasnt seeped into their college fandom also.

best, idk, i've had good times with fans of a bunch of schools. we had a great time with boise fans who were tailgating next to us and others in the stadium. had friendly convos with a kansas dude and his son, but i think my cussing weirded him out a little once things started going south for us lol. i have close friends who are diehard about unc, uva, and nc state and went to games with them without incident. hell, we went to a wake tailgate in 06 that was awesome. they had good beer and kick ass ribs, good times.

"Those kids couldn't win anything until they put a dog on their team. It dawned on us that we can do that to."

-Same article, had they watched Air Bud: Golden Receiver instead.
