From Spring Game, it looks like they're gonna send Demitri after the punter several times this year

Run Like Hell could be a good entrance song imo

I think the "underrated" Olinemen are a very good thing. VT used to be the underrated school which no one was afraid of, but win or lose, they were beat up afterwards and respected what VT brought to the table. Also, Bitter, you don't like the moniker. Who really cares what they call themselves? Why is "fab 5" reserved for 4 and 5*s? In the NBA, every team has a "big 3".

I'm pretty sure there's just the magnetic stripe. I wouldn't want to be carrying around an RFID tag in my Hokie P anyway, too much privacy concerns there.

At UMD they give you a discount into the Terp Club (you need to be a member to get season tickets) and give you discounted tickets for the first year. As much as I hate UMD they got the ticket thing right.

Yeah, Champs was always my go-to place. Also because I went to HS with a bartender there so free drinks!

I like the idea of i guess we can call the "Hokie Points" or what have you. The only thing I would add would be why stop at tickets, why not tie it into give aways and promotions and such? With our current administration its unlikely but with a new one dedicated to student support who knows? Maybe after so many points you can get the effect shirts/ Hokiezone shirts for free?

That would also help induce the corps to participate, theres not a lot of us but we do love us some Hokie sports lol, just the whole football tickets thing isnt an incentive.

Now that im thinking even, what if as a senior if you totalled up enough points you could be given a discount on your season tickets as a recent grad if you bought them within say like 3 years of leaving?

I'm actually not sure how many of our 60,000 regulars really pay attention to coaching staff changes, and besides, there are probably a lot turned off by the fact that we essentially picked up guys that Auburn just fired, without really understanding the full story.

Facing the field at all times? Is somebody attending a game and making the effort to read a cheering guide really going to need to read that? Yeesh. "Welcome to a sporting event, where if you attended because you enjoy the sport you might benefit from directing your eyeballs toward the game while it's being played."

The best system would clearly be to just take your number of tkp turkey legs as your points.

What kind of stuff are they putting on hokie passports nowadays? I'd there's good enough rfid technology, it could just automatically register when you entered/left the stadium. Don't know how well it would work for massive entrances like Lane with huge numbers of people though

I see where all you guys are coming from, and yes the getting out of Lane thing is the biggest immediate flaw in my mind. But I think if you had a "student-only" entrance and exit gate (say the one behind the scoreboard east side) it would help, maybe you could even do a system that says you only have to scan when you come in, or if you leave early (obviously you could then figure out who stayed the entire time by whoever is left over).

The fact that everyone can buy season tickets now does make this a bit useless for football, but it takes one good season for that to change again, and the student body is only growing larger. And personally, I hated the way basketball tickets worked, I hate getting ripped off by some students who doesn't even know what a teabag and Paulus have to do with one another. I still think the ticket system needs improving regardless and I think a point-system of some sort is the right way to go.

That pisses me off the most. First: You're an idiot at this point to buy basketball tickets and try to sell them for more money -- the team sucks. Second: these people are the reason student attendance is terrible during the season.

It's important for basketball. The next time I see a kid on Facebook trying to sell their season basketball tickets for twice the price I'm going to hunt them down and kick him right in the nuts.

I don't understand how a true fan could refuse to buy tickets. It would have made sense if we didn't make any changes this offseason, but every single fan who wanted a change got their wish. And we definitely have enough true fans to sell out that stadium.

Personally, I agree that the lottery system is flawed, but honestly it isn't that bad. My freshman year I managed to go to every game even when I didn't win the lottery (if you really want to go, tickets are not hard to come by), and ever since I've just bought season tickets. Also this is kind of a moot point now considering everyone can buy season tickets.

Now some form of a point/karma system would be great when it comes to seat placement, but outside of that it really isn't necessary anymore.

I was in a group that would have one guy reserve a spot in the campout line. Then we'd rotate one or two guys in and out of line. I don't remember exactly, but yeah you could get multiple student tickets with your athletic card. I thought it was 8 or 10, but the years have eroded my memory.

Wow man thank you so much!!! I owe many of you fellow key players rounds of beer. Next time I'm in the burg it's on me fellas!

I think the general consensus is that the points system is the best idea. However, scanning on the way out would cause too much congestion. Just taking the time to go to a soccer game should be worth something.

I like the overall concept but waiting in line to leave football and basketball games would suck. Especially after a heart-breaking BC 07 type loss or an insane Nebraska 09 type win, last thing you want to do is go get in a line just to leave. Maybe it wouldn't be that big of a problem, but that was my initial thought.

When I was at Tech you camped east of Cassell on the grass between the tennis courts and road. But you really only needed to do this for big games. If you went very early on the day they released tickets and lined up you could almost always get tickets. And 1 guy could get 5 tickets with their sports id card thing. I heard camping became an issue later due to certain activities in tents and the aforementioned class attendance and traffic issues. We used to rotate 5 or 6 guys in the tent. I only remember one guy getting taking off the line by campus police for being drunk but heard stories of much more drinking and more illicit things.

You're getting one of our new Horse on a Treadmill shirts on the house as soon as they're printed. Thanks for exemplifying what the spirit of HokieNation is all about.
