Hahaha Not everyone can handle James Van der Beek. I put that up to signify my sadness over getting "The Hand"

I guess it's time to move on....look for something new this afternoon

Can I just say, while I enjoy your posts, I really just want to punch your avatar in the face every time I see it.

That is all.

I hope JC, CJ, and anyone else that has access and he trusts reel in Nnadi. The more I read about him the more I like. I've said it before but give me pissed off at the world with something to prove kid on a Bud Foster defense any day. Nnadi is on a mission to prove all the scouting services wrong and every time he gets snubbed he just gets more motivated. If that's not the mold for a Hokie I don't know what is.

I had thought Greenberg had his eye on television for a while. He's pretty good at it, too. I think Weaver knew of this and decided to get the guy gone if he wanted another job anyway. This is all conjecture on my part.

Having said that, it will be a long road back for the basketball program. And with Pitt, Syracuse, and Louisville...well, let's just say we are in for it.

Yeah, but I would have figured the farmlands of VA would be productive, too. Isn't that where we found Jake Grove wrestling steer? Maybe this year is just a lean crop for country strength in VA.

Sorry, nothing planned for 50 days. The main trailer is going to be released on 8/1. There will also be a sick BEATBAMA trailer on 8/26.

Me with CFB when I was a kindergartener at Gilbert Linkous Elementary back in '89.

don't think it speaks about his character as about how excited he is to be committed to college. looks like a solid prospect though! welcome to hokie nation Cole!

Living WAY south of the border here where almost none of French's power desserts are available, I have just one thing to say: You are making me VERY HUNGRY mi gringo amigo.

I'll take one of those Granny Smith apple pies, with a large serving of Pet brand vanilla ice cream. A box of Little Debbies as a chaser would be much appreciated as well.

Oh and btw, you are right French, Teller has more upside on the O-line IMO. The best DE's have great speed and strength, and Teller is probably speed limited. We'll see what happens, maybe DT is where he ends up, but LT would be ideal.

David Teel over at the Daily Press wrote in his article that it seemed like Journell didn't have to go through the whole judicial board process with his marijuana escapade (http://www.dailypress.com/sports/teel-blog/dp-teel-time-holmes-dismissed...).

"Given that Journell's crime involved a premeditated plan to retrieve stolen marijuana, his offense seemed worse than Holmes spontaneous fight. But there are no indications the Student Conduct System was involved in Journells case the system grants accused students or organizations a hearing before an assigned faculty administrator or a committee of students."

So I'd agree that there has to be something more than meets the eye on this particular case...

The secondary is the toughest part, because of all the names you could sub in at safety or corner. Hall, Williams, Flowers, Macho, Hosley, even Carmichael and Virgil were really good corners too.

But I would nominate Chris Ellis at DE. Solid starter, All-ACC and good for more than just a year. He was the anchor on the D-line when we were top 7 for five years or so in a row.

I think I may need to test this one out myself. You know, just to make sure.

Oh I'm with you on that, dude should be learning blocking schemes and techniques yesterday. It just looks right now like he'll be spending a year at a less then optimal position.

Hopefully his desire to succeed at DE will propel him to put in the necessary work to be a high-motor game changer at that position.

same thing with T. Gregory. Billy Hite's whole philosophy for the running backs was "never let the first tackler take you down," yet Holmes and Gregory seemed to go down waaaaaaay to easily.
JC actually broke some tackles, and in my opinion showed the best burst/juking of all the RB's.

I would get more in-depth into this (I agree with you) but I don't want to get into a UVA v. VT academic argument. I'm not a Wahoo, there's no need to bring up academics when we're discussing football :)

Perfect timing. I've been talking about this recently with some of my friends.

Virginia Tech and UVA will always be a rivalry regardless of the product on the field. The schools are the preeminent college football programs in the Commonwealth, recruit the same high school players and the fans have a rare familiarity with each other. Outside of Virginia Tech, the biggest percentage of college graduates I know went to UVA which of course leads to epic shit talking sessions (the argument usually ends either with 38-0 bro or we're a top 25 school, football doesn't matter).

The bigger question is how important is the rivalry to the fabric of our football program. Recruiting immediately comes to mind. Since VT's football program is better, we're always going to get a certain type of recruit over them no matter how hard UVA tries. Since UVA is a better academic school, they are going to get a certain type of recruit over us no matter how hard we try (usually the prep school kid who wants to be a doctor/lawyer/in finance and is playing football "on the side").

From a recruiting standpoint, it's incredibly important to maintain the status quo. We need to maintain the image that we're not just a better program than UVA, UVA's program is not even in the same stratosphere as us. We need high school players to view UVA as a terrible football program and realize they're making a conscious decision to go to terrible football program if they sign there. The easiest way to depict that invirility is by asking recruits, "Do you really want to play for a football team we've beaten 10 years in a row?".

However from a practical standpoint, the rivalry is unimportant. The games we play with them rarely have any bigger context outside of the game itself. Personally, I get more jacked up when we play Georgia Tech, Clemson or FSU because the games are meaningful from either a national ranking or an ACC Championship standpoint. There's a give and take between those schools- we beat them sometimes and they beat us sometimes. Those schools have a stable of NFL-bound players, just like Virginia Tech. If we can beat those three schools with the same rate of success as UVA, we're truly knocking on the door of a national championship. Because those three school are the most meaningful for me, they are VT's biggest rivals from my vantage point.
