OK, checked out the starting situation. Wilson started against FSU at that spot, Marshall in three other games in November.
Wilson's other late-season start came in the bowl games, when Gayle was late for a team dinner. Collins also started the bowl game.
I guess Wilson starting the FSU game was burned in my memory. I've updated the post.
If I recall correctly, Wilson and Gayle were on the field at the same time at times last year. He started three games. (Gayle started 11, so at least one had to be on the other side for Wilson).
Now that I look at it, Marshall made four starts too. So I guess he had an impact too.
Kendall Fuller! Really excited about his Hokie career. He's so natural at the position already - I'm anxious to see his transition to college. I think he'll be our next great and keep that dbU tradition going.
Edit: and McLaughlin - need them O lineman.
Druckenmiller had a cannon for an arm.
I'm so glad I didn't respond.
Quick learner.
Dadi Nicolas played like a man possessed at times when going after the opposing side. Hope to see great things from him in the near future.
Did you get Tyrel Wilson and Corey Marshal mixed up in your article? As I remember it, Wilson backed up Gayle at stud (and Nicholas got most of his snaps at stud as well) and Marshal took most of the mid to late season snaps at end.
After watching that highlight, I really hope that the offense line will resemble the 1996 unit. Toughest son of bitches who dominated the trench, and MASHED anybody who crossed their face.
I miss that offensive line.
Correct. He played WR and QB. Never played TE as regular position in HS.
Yep, here are VTPhreak4evr's highlights of the 1996 VT/UVA matchup. You can hear Welsh telling Beamer that Tech was the best team they faced all year at the end of the game.
VTPhreak is doing his 130 Games in 130 Days series again this year with highlights of every game from 1993-1998 and 2010-2012 (he's already got the highlights from 1999-2009). Enjoy!
*Drew Harris and Holland Fisher
well we never got spit on but at the game we asked some of the twerps sitting around us, the one's who werent openly hostile at least, where all the bars were. one suggested a couple but added "dont wear your tech gear. seriously." must've been what he was talking about.
we had a good time but walking back to the car was ridiculous. inside the stadium the maryland fans were actually getting loud when their offense had a 3rd or 4th down. it was hilarious. somebody threw peanuts at me but that was after umd missed a fg to end the first half and i yelled out "dont worry terps, field goals wont beat us anyway!" worth it.
Yeah, UMD is not the place to be. I grew up in MD, wanted to make it to one of our away games in MD, was advised by my friend not to when he told his friends I'd be showing up, then showed up not on a gameday to get spit on at a bar multiple times.
I feel like as long as it's not a high traffic time, like if we weren't posting huge news, then the chat wouldn't be too huge and tough to handle and it'd be nice to have.
Or rolls of nickels.
Love seeing someone that wasn't highly rated breakout. I will be watching Anthony Shegog.
Just a random thought...it would be cool if there was a TKP chat or something.
Their staff can be repetitive and that broadcast seems to hit most of the major points through out the week.
edit: TechHokie13 kinda reminded me to be a little more classy and not attack our fellow Hokies at TSL.
Toss up between Fuller and Bucky Hodges.
Fuller is the better prospect, but Hodges is playing the more important position.
Another Fuller. I'm excited about another Fuller.
;-)
I like sideline, but I never spent anytime on the boards. A few bad posts can spoil a group quickly. I love TKP. It picks up where tailgatefever.com left off. Speaking of which: does anyone know why that site has gone silent? Only those dudes could get me through some of our toughest loses and noon kick offs.
I could not agree more. With both of the above statements. Ha, you guys remember when Coach got upset with Pbreak for the awesome grainy footage of a very young Ryan Ru Williams schooling the Hokie D?
Awesome.
Also, is there any possibility that your avatar pic is something I could get as an iPhone background? I know it's uncouth of me to ask, especially if its your personal property. Just thought I'd heck.

OK, I know I wasn't crazy. This post I had from early November indicated Wilson and Marshall were working at the end spot, even though Wilson had been Gayle's backup at stud most of the year.
