Noah brown? Looks like he and tyrell smith r close....
According to Wikipedia, the first 3 are picked through the lottery, and then 4-14 are in reverse order of the 11 non-playoff teams that didn't get one of the first 3, which is what I was basing that off of.
Now, I have no idea how ESPN and other media hype machines call them, since I honestly don't care. Maybe I have the terminology messed up, but what I meant to say was that the first 3 selections are somewhat randomized. I was just intrigued by the lottery process, and figured I'd share for other people like me who didn't know until now.
And that makes sense that the 2nd rounders would have to play their way onto a roster since they aren't guaranteed money, they have to prove that they're a worthy investment.
After that interview, if we DON'T get Brown, then he's screwing with us on purpose and we won't forget it. But, Ive got a good heart and assume the best in people......he's found what he's looking for and we will get him.
I think this is also the only situation where Brown and Nnadi and Brown play together.....it's been clear for a few weeks Nnadi really sees VT as his future home and if Brown commits first, I don't think that will deter Nnadi.
2011 Baylor vs. Oklahoma in the regular season stands out for me, and nobody's mentioned it yet. That was the night we all learned RG3 is unreal.

Even without the Crabtree catch and the field-storming, the bell ringer makes it the best game.
This was easily the most #goacc thing I've ever seen in hockey
Tropical storm-force rains would ensue if Lou Holtz ever tried to say his name.
i always imagined his parents having lisps. I bet Lou Holtz never has an issue with his name
schools technically cant block a student from going somewhere, he could come to VT and play immediately -- its the money thats the issue. If we fall under Pitts blockade (which we most assuredly do) then we just cant provide any financial assistance or scholarship for at least a year. Which is why he wont come here, but would go where he could get a scholarship, be it D1AA or a place Pitt is fine with
The guy that made this and Hokie 300 could make some entertaining videos.
A few more things to consider:
Blacksburg is a quiet town. We (Hokie university, alumni and fan base and coaches) are known and respected more for our quiet, confident, and hard working demeanor than the flashiness of say a Southern Cal or LSU can offer to a recruit.
We still do not have a NC, or a great record against top ten teams. We cannot recruit our way into success. We have to earn it - whether that is fair or not - Mike London will agree. Nick Saban, considered today's finest at building dynasties in CFB, treats building a program as a process (attention to detail, slow developing but once set into motion, a process that inexorably breeds more success).
Majority of our Alumni (including yours truly) is middle class paycheck to paycheck families. Our alma mater lacks a super wealthy benefactor like Oregon or Oklahoma State has. And, VT does not have a huge alumni base like Michigan or a lavishly giving fan base like Alabama that make new facilities so much easier to undertake. Our coaches can do only so much to change that.
Finally, my understanding is that (based on newspaper articles and such) that VT was not really significant in football until Beamer came along. No tradition like Ohio State or Notre Dame.
I believe a typical football recruit cares about all of thee things. Now we do have several good things in our favor, but let us not have delusions of grandeur - there are ample reasons why a top notch recruit would want to go somewhere else.
End of rant. :-)
Parity is starting to spread to football. I feel that in basketball it's been there for a while. if i'm some talented kid and want to play, I'd go somewhere that would put me in right away. Yeah, I could fight for a spot at Bama, but if I go to UAB, then I can be on TV and have my name called all the time. Look at some of the top NFL players right now. They didn't all go to top schools, you got kids from Troy and Miami of Ohio pulling it in.
Anyway, someone in my work building was telling me about his cuz, who is at Dematha (the kids name is Deonte or something). The kid is a 3* defensive end and recently decided to go to NCSTate. His whole reasoning, because he was going to get to play. Yeah, he visited OSU, but he knew he wouldn't have to redshirt or fight 3 deep to get a starting job. This is partially why I think recruiting could be all over the place. So many factors involved.
Correction: He may not be rated yet, but he still has plenty of time to make his mark before he blows up at VT!
OK, I just reread this and I'm a bit buzzed, we have a music program?
First 14 are the lottery, these are typically non playoff teams unless they had traded for a pick in the past. Second rounders typically have to play their way on team over vets thru summer league and training camp.
Would it be this? It made me want to go all Psycho Bud!

I really hate that he got banned. I completely understand the system though. IF he was an authentic Hokie fan I hope he would get another chance to join the site if he wanted to, after now knowing the rules.
Beamer should show this to all the players to pump them up.
Don't forget that an increasing number of games are becoming nationally televised every year, meaning that the kid's parents can still see him play if he goes from VA to play for USCw, for example
There are 2 rounds, 60 picks total.
The first 3, I believe, are considered "lottery picks", because of their convoluted system of selecting who gets the first few picks. After that it reverts to reverse order of finish of the teams that didn't win the lottery.
Also, the main difference between 1st and 2nd round is that 1st round picks are guaranteed money under the CBA and 2nd round picks are not.
First off, this isn't the Civil War. These kids aren't
snubbing they're neighbors and communities by going out of state cause the SEC is hot right now.
Most of these recruits aren't even 18 years old yet and are faced with a world in which there is no precedent. The rise of the internet has given way to the ability for colleges to find and recruit players they wouldn't have even heard of previously, and vice versa.
Just imagine being a top high school football player now.
- having 2,000+ twitter followers that comb over, RT, favorite, and/or respond to your every post with propaganda for their team (and even throw hate at you in some cases if you don't pick their team).
- Constantly seeing blogs that praise your abilities and potential success to an end that most people would be unable to replicate.
- The ability to take virtual tours, receive emails, texts, read forums, watch videos, etc. all on break in between Biology and Gym.
These are just a few reasons why we're finding an increased amount of players leaving the states they grew up in to go and play 3-4 years in a different location.
To be 100% honest, unless you grew up a VT or UVAlol fan like many of us did, you'd probably want to leave Virginia to go play in a bigger stadium in a program that has much more national exposure on the internet, ESPN, and magazines than VT or UVA does.
Most of our top players have been a result of the family connections that Beamer & Co. have made it a point to instill on this program.
We'll never really reach that plateau of recruiting success until we can finally give these in-state recruits the promise that they can win the national championship here.
Have some more koolaid - it's delicious
That gif is hilarious. I feel like it should be included whenever possible with the phrase "that's how I/we roll"

2 Browns + Nnadi ZOMG!!!
