A little off-topic...word around the grapevine (only heard from second-hand sources, nothing substantial, can't back up any of the statements I'm about to make) is that Quin Blanding is starting to fall out of love with UVA. My source told me he realizes that some of the other prospects from the 757 aren't going to follow him to Charlottesville. #LOLUVA
From the article:
"The Danville, Va., native was MVP of the 2009 IFAF Under-19 World Championship in Canton, Ohio, rushing for 427 yards and eight touchdowns on 33 carries to lead Team USA to three straight victories and the gold medal."
Sadly this one game is ALMOST as much as our leading RB ran for last season...
Yeah...hopefully right next to him on the 2015 starting d! :)
If we land Brown, does Nnadi go elsewhere?
I don't know what kind of control an institution can exert on a player if he leaves, sits out a year without enrolling anywhere, then decides to go back to school. Anyone know the rules on this? Does this clean the slate regarding past committments?
Beautiful research Wartooth, truly entertaining, and totally LOLUVA! Worth a hundred turkey legs and more.

Yeah that's sort of what I was getting at. I know that if Pitt has the right to limit his transfer options, an ACC-school is a non-starter. But if they don't...well...after watching him shred us last year, I wouldn't mind seeing him on our sideline.
While I'd love to get my hopes up on this (or more precisely, have my hopes realized...), I actually read the last line kind of pessimistically. Tough to tell with how it was typed up, but I read it more as 'I already know what I want to do, despite the Tech coaches making a good case'. In other words, I've already decided it won't be them, but they did a good job of trying to convince me.
Oh well, regardless, always fun to speculate. It really would be good to have a few home runs in this recruiting cycle, especially as it was hyped as being so potentially special. If not Brown, then hopefully Nnadi and others. (Or both!)
Here (via this)
Andrew Brown (Chesapeake, Va./Oscar Frommel Smith), the nation's
No. 1 defensive tackle recruit, has been considered a Virginia lean for
some time. Virgina Tech appears to be closing the gap. The Hokies may
have even overcome the Cavaliers in this particular recruiting battle."I just talked to some of the Virginia Tech coaches," Brown told Adam
Friedman of Rivals.com. "The conversation went very smoothly."I asked them where I would be playing, would I have to redshirt, what
are they looking for and what are they expecting. That's pretty much all it
was. I liked the answers."Brown is ready to announce his decision June 29 according to Friedman.
He'll choose between Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Virginia and
Virginia Tech.Brown intimated Virginia Tech may be his top option.
"I think I'm set in what I want to do," Brown said. "The (Virginia Tech)
coaches are making a good case for themselves."
Damn it TheSabre, I don't want to get my hopes up.

I believe I ninja'd you on the article, but you definitely one-upped me with the video. That's some fantastic stuff.
Got bored at internship and went to the sabre to get some laughs. top item on their football message board is an espn inside article (of which they copied and pasted) that Andrew Brown may have Tech ahead of uva now. Friday might be interesting

That is what you are referring to.
Edit: This resulted in this fired up speech from him
The players are all amateurs, no NFL or CFL players allowed, but they also have to be at least 20.
There's also a U-19 team, and apparently a U-15 team...
Apparently he was on the U19 team:

Also, Google showed me this OTHER David Wilson that's trying to play on the national U15 team:
This was the first thing I thought of when it was mentioned. I think it's all prep school kids. Might be like a U-20 world championship or something. And I do think DW4 was in there.
They are supposed to be good. They have a lot of great players. But in the last World Cup - and I swear I am not making this up - they got all hot and bothered among themselves and went on strike.
The French did the Frenchiest thing that ever did French.
Didn't David Wilson play on that? Maybe it was a junior league, but I'm pretty sure he played on some team USA and dominated.
Btw, we've had 2 players on the USMNAFT:
Cary Wade, backup Rover in 2005-06 behind Aaron Rouse, played in the 2007 World Championship
Stephan Virgil, starting CB in 2008-2009, played in the 2011 World Championship
One tubby tubby tubby. Two tubby tubby tubby.
So, this thread sent me off on a trip through Wikipedia that unearthed this gem:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IFAF_World_Championship_of_American_Football
Apparently, someone formed a FIFA-wannabe called IFAF (International Federation of American Football) and has held a World Championship every 4 years since 1999. The USA didn't even have a National Team until the 2007 edition, which they won. And then won again in 2011.
Why did I never know this existed???
Not to mention that VT's world-renowned offense avereged over 35ppg against Tenuta during that 4-1 span
Winning a trophy in the French league is equivalent to getting second-to-last place.

Ooh....that's interesting.
