List looks ok to me. It's gonna be a lot of fun for opposing defenses to get pressure on FSU this year; they have 4 OL on the first two teams.

Our offensive guys need to take a look at this and get it in gear to prove Mr. Steele wrong, but based on past production, I can't disagree with the offense (and LT3 over Renner is based on the assumption that there is no way he will repeat last season, but I would put Renner at 2 as well.)

On defense, Derrick Hopkins should be in the discussion for first team tackle. Nobody has been better on defense the last two seasons than MANBEARPIG. Maddy should probably get some consideration here, as should Kyle Fuller, but Fuller was really not good for a long stretch last year and I think this reflects that stretch.

By the way, it still chaps my ass to see Stephone Anthony and Travis Hughes on this list. Poor recruiting during that period (while actively interviewing for other jobs during the recruiting push) is the one black mark that Bud Foster has and will continue to have on my ledger.

So, I look at this in a couple of ways.

1) This sucks, because I don't like losing in-state guys to out of state schools. Holmes is a talented player, and stockpiling guys at impact positions like defensive end is never a bad policy. If he wanted to play tight end, that would be fine, as the Hokies have long needed to get more explosive production from the tight end position.

2) At the same time, as much as I like Holmes, defensive end is absolutely chock full of depth right now. You have Nicolas, Marshall, Ekanem, and Teller (with Mihota in this class) and I think this choice by Holmes could be a positive indicator that Hand is a strong Hokie lean at this point (pure speculation on my part.) Hand is the must get at end, and then put our resources into defensive tackle, backer, offensive line, and wide receiver.

Ugh. Demetrious Nicholson (2nd team CB) over Kyle Fuller (3rd team CB)?

I guess Phil will have to learn a thing or two this season.

Oh, from what I thought I'd heard, he was a bust and was on the verge of deciding to quit football altogether. Glad to hear it, kinda. I like hearing VA products doing well, but I can't claim to want OSU to do well at all.

I am really surprised nobody mentioned the original Sonic the Hedgehog on the SEGA Genesis console. I still get dizzy remembering Sonic navigating the loop-de-loop and collecting coins at a dizzying pace.

Does anyone remember the original Virtua Fighter? I seem to vaguely remember playing it in a department store and it was on an obscure gaming console that was the first to use disc before it took off. I think the name of the console was Saturn or something like that.

I'm also very disappointed nobody mentioned the arcade powerhouse Pac-Man or Galga. Very disappointed.

Agree Logan should be 3rd team. Don't know much about other teams kickers but Journell seems to have been snubbed. Also think Luther Maddy was robbed--would put him at 2nd team before Hopkins.

Overall though Phil Steele is the MAN!

I'm surprised that LT3 is on second team over Renner (just based on last year).

DJ Coles has some motivation in looking at the WR list.

Ugh. I hate losing guys to the ACC. I hate losing guys out of state. I hate losing them more in state. Last few I can recall were Percy Harvin (Florida, that worked out for him), Curtis Grant (Ohio State, not so much), Justin Hunter (Tennessee, I think he's happy), EJ Manuel (Florida State, and good for him), Kevin Newsome (Penn State, about a quarter mile from my house, definitely didn't work), and everyone who went to Alabama (guess I can't argue).

Blacksburg, Neutral Site, or pass.

However i did enjoy our 2004 game my freshman year when we had them in Lane and they were top ten ranked. Enjoyed rushing the field and sprinting over to the visitors section down on the field to chant Lets Go Hokies at them. It was a full on sprint by the students from the North Endzone to the opposite endzone in that corner where the visitors section is. Good times

This is probably my favorite Hokie game.

Others are epic memories, like Darren Evans vs. All of Maryland, the Clemson game when we scored three or four non-offensive touchdowns, or David Wilson burying Georgia Tech with the return TD, but this one went wire to wire. We were in control, lost control, and came back in the end in spectacular fashion.

It very much reminds me of the Nebraska game in Blacksburg, where a final-drive TD got us the win after a long and stressful game. But this was against Miami, and Sandman was the appropriate punctuation. Also unlike the Nebraska game, Stinespring didn't call Scramble Drill and just leave it in the hands of Tyrod. I think O'Cain was calling the plays against Miami that day.

Somebody donated tickets to the students, but I don't think it was Frank. From what I read, he donated $5000 to allow all athletic department employees to attend.
