How awesome would it be to beat VCU? They claim to be the best basketball team in the state (and they probably are) but its time they prove it.
This is me checking "disagree." First, he has to outshine Edmunds.
BOLD PREDICTION:
Michael Holmes outshines logan thomas and contends for acc player of the year next season.
I was impressed overall with the offence and schemes they were presenting. Little sloppy at points, but rome wasn't built in day. at times they were presenting heavy backfields for downhill running and others times logan sat in 5 wide sets, so that was interesting to see maybe a glimpse of what the offence might look like come fall. the zone blocking schemes on running plays looked pretty good by the 1st string, but were exposed sometimes and Grimes let the linemen know when he wasn't pleased with missed assignments. Edmunds was the highlight of the day. his explosiveness made it seem like he was off to the races every time he touched the ball, but had problems on a few plays in pass protection. JC looked really good on passing plays with both blocking in route running. Logan was Logan i guess you would say. one play he looked like everything we want him to be, then the next passing play would remind you of last year at times. You could tell he has been working on his footwork, but the pick he threw towards the endzone had everything to do with his footwork. The defensive line looked really good overall. The defense overall was playing bud like defence; flying around and playing aggressive. I really wasn't able to watch the DBs that much, but that is saturdays plan. Overall it was a good showing and felt like a step forward for the offence.
Noticed that too.
Ekanem played DE in the open scrimmage today. Did not see him play linebacker at all.
what did you think of Loeffler's comments regarding RB's and TE's. He did not mention any specific names. I saw some one wrote that Holmes and JCC got most of the reps with first team. Loeffler also said tight end is by committee right now. In the highlights of the 1's it looked like Malleck was out there with Logan under center.
What TE got most of the reps with the 1's? and who with the 2's?
We play WVU in Blacksburg next year.
Just saw a few short highlights on HokieSports with the Scot Loefler interview. Quick comments:
DJ Coles is playing like he wants to physically harm everyone. Can't wait to see him play.
Trey Edmunds hits the hole like a bad man.
Derick Hopkins is built like a cannonball, and gets out of his stance like he got fired out of a cannon. I think he's our best DLinemen.
I would not be surprised if Trey Edmunds and Michael Holmes are our #1 and #2 RBs, with JC and Mangus as scat backs.
Thought that mighta been him, couldn't be sure. Wonder why he was in green.
it looked like a spring scrimmage should, lots of positives but a few lapses in concentration. What I was most impressed with was the up-tempo pace and intensity in which plays were executed. they were snapping the ball with about 18-15 seconds left on the play clock.
YES. Stanford made me very happy today. Liked his effort and execution. If he had caught that one he laid out for, today woulda been perfect.
It looked like he was running the chains in green on the far sideline
Josh Stanford was impressive. Looked very smooth running routes, and he is definitely one of Logan's favorite targets, if not his number 1. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he led the team in receptions this year.
More fans at today's open scrimmage than UVA had fans at their spring game.
I wasn't there, but it's a fair assumption.
Anyone know what was up with Jack Tyler? Didn't see him out on the field today.
Yeah, Logan looked a little hit-or-miss sometimes. Definitely had some pretty throws though. He looks like he trusts DJ a whole heck of a lot.
Trey Edmunds was definitely one of the biggest bright spots on offense. Logan looked sloppy at times
Indeed a resident! (ok, nearby....fluvanna co.) But I work in town.
Well, we always knew he was a deep threat. His first college reception was that TD against GT!
Joel Caleb? Any time on the field???
Ryan Mallack just caught a short pass from LT
Logan just.hit Knowles for 2 long passes
Any tight end production?

First impressions.
Edmunds may be 'the guy' that carries most of the load, allowing JC to come in with his speed and catch a sleeping defense off guard.
Jack Tyler was missing, I believe he had class.
Stanford was running good solid routes
Im not sure anybody noticed but Kevin Asante laid the hammer on the DB covering Knowles allowing Knowles to pick up 8-10 more yards on a deep catch. I loved that, I want more of that attitude out of our offensive players.
Logan looked okay. He had a good stretch where his throws were on the money, and he was just operating smoothly. He threw 2 picks. One was a bad, bad throw. Late, lofted too much and thrown off his back foot. On the second Im not sure the receiver was even expecting it and it was easy for Fuller to jump the route. Its still early in the Loeffler/Thomas relationship and I expect a lot of progress in the coming months.
Leal looked good when he had time to throw. The 2nd OL couldn't handle the 1st string defense.
Dadi and Gayle were going HAM.
Facyson is gong to be a hell of a player.
