Just looking at the 2014 target list, most of the players are around Virginia, NC, and SC (A LOT from South Carolina). However, we have yet to see Loeffler, Grimes, and Moorehead actually target some prospects. I think we're already starting to see the boundaries expand given David Cornwell's (Oklahoma) offer. Over the next two months we should see recruits start popping up outside of the typical boundaries.

Elite Programs recruit coast to coast. Stanford has a commitment from a VA QB. Alabama has recruits from NJ, NY, Utah, Pennsylvania. Not a lot outside their 6 hour radius, but the pieces to the puzzle. If we can start recruiting the 4 and 5 stars players and developing like we do the 3 and 4 stars, this program will be on the upside.

i remember people screaming "no!" when it looked like Hank Thorns was going to take a shot. He wasn't good enough for VT, but surprisingly was in camp for the clippers.

I wish I could have seen Chaney play here because he was awesome. But Garland was terrible. I remember being in a pretty empty stadium last year for one of the games and screaming "NO!" when he was pulling up for a shot. It missed everything.

I've been watching old VT trailers and been getting excited because the new staff remind me of those teams in the past. Add in that everyone has us down, and it's becoming very familiar. We play better when we aren't expected to do well...

chaney, ill take him

garland....on the other hand....he kind of reminds me of the wind. because he BLOWS.

21 GARLAND, Tyrone 4-8 1-2 2-2 0-0 0 1 11 3 0 0 0 20
Tyrone playing for LaSalle putting up 11 points on 4 for 8 shooting.

I think we can be successful with recruiting mainly in our "6 hour radius", however it seems like in the past we have been a piece or two away from having a special team. Maybe going outside our comfort zone in recruiting will finally complete everything

I think this scenario is more and more likely.

Think of all the people with vested interest in Manti being straight.

Notre Dame
NBC (they have the ND football contract)
His parents
Manti

Bet some people are being promised big money to keep quiet.

Poor Manti. He is either severly naive or everyone knew about the relationship and is covering it up. He was told "you can have the relationship but if it gets exposed you have to break it off."

You are Chip Kelly and go for it just about anywhere because the stats favor you scoring more points in a game.

I think the only way to encourge more going for it is to make field goals over 40 yards only 2 points.

I can't wait to see how Chris Mangus, Trey Edmunds, Laurence Gibson and Mark Shulman have come along.

We don't have a plethora of outstanding QBs waiting to play. This kid is a junior in high school. Our offense could change tremendously by the time he's a rs sophomore or junior at tech (hopefully) Most pro style qbs won't even consider us. I'm glad we gave him the offer

Hopefully with all the rain and snow we have had so far, the rain holds off this year come spring game time.

With that much time on the clock he really should have tried something different. At times his step back is like a free throw to most people, but in that situation they really should have tried something different.

I read somewhere that our position coaches will be highly involved in recruiting their position. So Leoffler will be recruiting QBs (regardless of location), Grimes will be recruiting linemen (regardless of location), etc. I forget what positions it applied to, but I'll look for the article.

I would have like to have seen Erick try to go to the basket on that last play. I know he loves that step back jumper but I felt like every time he drove the entire defense collapsed and he was able to find Raines on a couple of those. I still hated staying in the 2-3 zone for overtime when they were clearly beating it, there has to be a mixing between zone and man.

run a play! run a play! we had a timeout, plenty of time left and we find ourselves in a delaney/greenburg game winning shot type of situation. everybody just watch erick and pray. godamnit we had that game.

when i think about the combined 2012-13 vt athletics year so far:
