But I honestly feel we have a chance to make it. Last year, Iowa made it in at 17-16, which is a realistic finish for this team. From here forward, if we can consistently play like we did against Oklahoma State and Miami, we could feasibly pull off a 5-6 finish to the season, and potentially steal one in the ACCT.
And we do have 5 "winnable" games left, and could always steal one or two that we shouldn't (like we almost did against Miami).
I think he was looking more for "expected point yield" or something. Obviously teams are going to make more field goals than 4th down conversions, but overall making it on 4th could mean 7 points. But then that is harder to quantify. 72% chance of getting 3 points is 2.16 points per field goal attempt. By those stats, that gives you a 51% chance of giving yourself a chance to get 7 points, so as long as you're confident that you have more than a 60% chance of scoring a touchdown, which would then give you at least as high of an "expected point yield" (.51 x .6 x 7 = 2.14).
There is no exception.
You stand the whole game and you do not leave early. As long as the boys are on the field, you're at the stadium.
However, I do agree that sitting on Bama fans is okay.

While I think Michael Carter-Williams has a ton of talent, he has been extremely inconsistent. Does he get his teammates involved? Yes. Does he have highlight-reel dunks now and again? Yep. Is he a matchup nightmare? Absolutely. Does he deserve to make it onto that list over someone like EG who leads the nation in scoring, is carrying his team and is averaging 10 PPG more than the #2 guy in ACC play? Hell no.
I think Trey Burke is the front runner right now based on that list. Sure he has got a number of talented teammates alongside him, but the dude can ball. And if anything, the only reason he is not scoring more than he is is because he doesn't have to.
He did get snubbed but it had to be expected. We haven't had any nationally televised games this year so most of these writers haven't even seen him play. They are probably going purely off of the "well they have nobody else" logic and moving on.
I don't see an NIT happening unless we get to 18 or so wins. Most at-large NIT teams who aren't UNC or UConn end up being fringe tournament teams. A couple of years ago Maryland went 19-14 and didn't play in it.
B- We all know where Heather's loyalties are. I completely write that woman off.
Here are your numbers. If you consider all FBS teams in 2012, the 4th down conversion rate was 51.4%. The field goal conversion rate was 72.1%.
This was a game that they needed to steal. The first half was a blast to watch until woods missed free throws, then the tide did turn. Rankin needed to make that adjustment of not undercutting the screen or someone put a hand in larkins face, but offensively as the case in all the loses, someone else needs to step up for a whole game and not just ten minutes or so.
he definitely needs that power, because some of those runs to the outside won't be made against D-1 players. but that stiff arm is pretty nasty on some of those runs. would be nice to see a runner like that again in maroon and ...maroon.
Season isn't over yet, isn't it a little early to start worrying about something like this? Let's see if they make the NIT and make some noise in that before we put a final stamp on his season.
Don't get me wrong, he is playing a high level and it is a blast to watch, really the only thing that makes work somewhat fun, but I hope he makes his mark by putting a banner up.
You stay classy TKP.
Good thing it wasn't a sportsmanship award. that alone cost the skins about 2 games at least.
They did visit him yesterday and he now holds an offer from VT.
Report is that Shane and Scot visited him today. Going to be interesting on the qb front.

Makes it so sweet to beat them. We were just as good as Miami then.
2001 we lost 26-24 in a season where they won by a couple touchdowns or more to everyone else.
Doesn't GT usually run this system?
Reminds me of Ryan Williams and a bit of David Wilson with his balance, but more Ryan Williams for the power and yards after contact.
Georgia Tech would love to have him. His single-wing experience would easily translate to CPJ's offense.
Hate the orange pants though.
I think Green has to be behind trey Burke right now. And for those of you who would point out michigan is much more talented, you're right. But Burke is just as good of a shooter, is a better passer, and some could argue a better penetrator. I think the top 5 players in the country right now, in order, are Burke, Green, zeller, Rotnei Clarke, and oladipo.

Honestly, I think ever since Eric LeGrand got hurt, everybody think that special teams need to go the way of Groh.
I think there has been far too much emphasis on safety, it has led to excessive amount of penalties (usually against the defensive players), and it has sucked some of the fun out of the game.
There got to be a balance somewhere, and that's a whole 'nother thread.

His argument is asinine. Why remove an option teams have? Why FORCE everyone to go for it on 4th down? If a team wants to do that and be aggressive, fine, but that's their choice. Why remove a chance for fans to debate something, for coaches to make a tough call, and for people to second guess them? Isn't that part of the fun? Saying "Ok, it's fourth quarter and we're down by 6... Do you go for it here?" and then look around at your friends and debate.
Also, what does he have against kickers? Yeah, they're specialists, but so what? Having a reliable one is essential to your team, and a clutch one is a valuable weapon. Why hate on stressful field-goal attempts? They are dramatic, quick, and immediately rewarding. The guy is an idiot looking for page hits.
