I saw this this morning but didn't have time to write a piece. Just RT'd his response to the Bama fan.

But there were a bunch of things that went wrong on that goal, so really you can't put it all on Fuhr. For instance, if you watch the video, you can see that there are FOUR Blues defenders in the area of Yzerman when he takes the shot, and not a single one is challenging him.

1. Does Loeffler like the QB's we have? If not, he may go after a guy or two he had pursued. Jeremy Johnson is 6'5" mobile QB from Alabama that is an Auburn commit, but recently announced he is visiting Ole Miss or South Carolina.

2. Can we get back in on Derrick Green? Green liked Shane, but he didn't like our offense. He did like Auburn when Loeffler and Grimes were there. That should be our first call this week, can we get Green to visit? Maybe Drew Harris' uncertainty helps?

3. Grimes' ability to recruit OL is pretty remarkable. If you looked back at the Rivals lists of who he recruited, he seemed to go anywhere and everywhere to find OL. In particular, he worked Colorado hard, Texas and Florida. Is there an OL out there that he might be able to bring in? I would think a guy might be interested if he is "one of Grimes guys" and we are reassessing our entire OL.

4. As mentioned, Grimes worked Florida some and Loeffler worked Florida a lot. Can we get back into Florida regularly?

5. How will we fill in traditional recruiting responsibilities? DC/MD was Sherman, NC/SC was O'Cain, half of 757 was Newsome. Will Stiney take all of 757 or split it with Cornell? Will Wiles take all of NC/SC? Will we let Grimes focus on OL anywhere? What can Moorehead handle? Will he work Indiana/Illinois?

We have long tried to use loyalty as the only mechanism for keeping coaches instead of the market. We tried to take a home-grown guy and get a "good-enough" offense out of him, knowing he would never leave.

Now, we've gone out and hired a guy who, if he is successful, will have other offers very quickly. If he isn't successful, we can move on quickly.

VT has been too dependent on home-grown talent. More risk, more reward.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they bring a couple of commits... I'm sure there's a number of kids that are going to be cut by Auburn's new staff, and some of them might want to follow the OC or OL coach that recruited them.

That said, obviously nothing is guaranteed.

Running more makes sense given the potential system we are looking at and the talent we have next year. With the size of Logan, Harris, and Edmunds and the speed of Coleman our backfield is solid already. I think that Stanford and Caleb are going to surprise a lot of people this spring with their talent. We already know what Knowles can (and can't do). I feel good about these hires already. Also look at future recruits that are coming. If we offer former Auburn QB commit Jacob Park he will fit intot his system down the road. He was listed this last season at 6-4 200 lbs. as a Junior.

I wouldn't put this all on the kid. When I applied to Tech I had my mom and a guidance counselor help me out, and I don't remember doing any of the work except picking my meals and signing my name. Also, no one is perfect, I remember two kids in my class having to delay enrollment because of botched paperwork. Finally, if he was cutting it close to the deadline getting his grades in order to pass pass admissions, you really can't make the argument that he should have been more prompt, or submitted things in advance.

I think the positives greatly outweigh the negatives. He could have gone to a different school all along, but he's continuing to stick with Tech, even with this minor snafu.

Nooooo. Sugar bowl? Did Holmes have one good return last season? We need to get back to Beamerball and I don't think they're the way to do it.

Not to be disrespectful or rude to them or anything, but I would be thrilled if Holmes and Gregory never see the field again in a capacity that requires them to have the ball in their hands.

Mangus could actually be a great return guy, Edmunds... not so much. He's the bruiser that will compliment JC before Harris steps up.

CC at TSL tweeted that it's happened in the past to other players.

Weaver is busy, but #BEATBAMA is still the mission:

1) finish assistant hires
2) fix Drew Harris enrollment debacle in time for spring

Going into my Jr. year in July, I received a call from my academic athletic advisor telling me that she had screwed up the semester before, and recommended that I take the wrong class, ultimately deeming me ineligible due to course requirements, and that I had 1 day to take a course to fulfill the requirements. Not easy to do. Actually, impossible since you can't take a course in three days.

Luckily, I somehow found a way by going to Strayer that day, paying $80 to take a Human Development exam to get 3 credits. The exam came with a 5-week module, but I didn't have time for that. So I winged it and somehow passed.

The NCAA is a cluster-you-know-what when it comes to academics, and oftentimes, so are the University Representatives that are supposed to help the students (a former advisor was an absolute 76-year-old stoner, and stories should probably stop there before ppl get in trouble), so it doesn't surprise me at all, though Football players usually get the Gold Package when it comes to support services.

it was very evident that the Loeffler offense utilizes a lot of lead fullback blocking.....FB play will be very important next year.

The reason this game was so pyschologically damaging and life changing was due to the boiling suspense all Summer long. I remember blogging in April and May on how excited I was and then it escalated to serious trash talk with Boise fans on a daily basis through June, July and into August. Boise was riding high as a top 5 team and we had what I thought our best team ever with Williams, Evans, and Tyrod and our defense and fully expected to break our cycle of big losses.

Like a few others mentioned, I couldn't sleep right for the better part of a week. I discussed what I realized was a problem with getting so close to a program and prognosticating beyond reason how a game would end. We are just fans. This game was humbling. It made me not even care when we lost to JMU in the rain and I slept alright after the Michigan game. We blew in 07 BC...the world would have found a way to keep us from playing LSU in 07 after the beatdown they gave us had we won that game. I also hate Matt Ryan to this day.

Love the look of a small RB like JC (a la Ray Rice, Darren Sproles, Jones-Drew, Quizz, etc.) paired with a bigger bruiser type guy.

The experiment with Holmes & Gregory (add in Mangus, Edmunds, etc.) shouldn't be a thing, IMO.. Just let them do returns and stuff while focusing on the two best guys.
