They beat FSU, Clemson, and Cincy if the offensive line gives a standard ACC quality effort. The inability to get 3 on a 3rd and 2 killed the offense. FSU isn't close if the offense sustains some drives. Clemson didn't piss a drop for long stretches, but the OL couldn't secure 3rd and shorts. Cincy gets up in the first half because the Hokie O would get 2nd and 2's and then couldn't convert. That starts with the OL.

And in all those games the offense struggled to move the ball. Big plays kept them in the game (A case can be made for the FSU game). While big plays are good, it's a lot like a 3 and out. Doesn't give the defense time to rest. When the offense is consistently on the field for 3 plays, the defense cannot rest.

I'd rather not be ranked at this point in the season. Play out this underdog role as long as we can. Rank carries no meaning this early, and I think even if we win our next four and go into BYU ranked in the low 20s that's a good thing. Plus, we don't want any national attention getting into the players' heads. JJ will keep that to a minimum, but still.

Agreed. If NC State is one of the supposed "Powers of the ACC" this season, I think we could end up finishing in the top 5 in conference play and maybe make some noise in the ACC Tournament.

It's funny to see all the Rutgers fans in the comments bashing her for standing up for the ACC and crapping on the B1G. They haven't played a game in the conference and yet they act like they are already the class of the B1G.

7-0 looks damn good for us BUT it is under a new coach with a new identity IN December. I'm not surprised that even after wins against Iowa and a sliding OK State team that we are not. We all know when it really matters so let's hope we can play well against the lesser competition as well as grab marquee wins while we can. Keep beating more teams like this and come out of the ACC slate well enough and we may actually dance this year.

With not being ranked and even with Ok. State being ranked ahead of us. What bothers me is NC State is still in front of us.

They're a team in our own conference who has lost 2 games to our zero and they were beat by 20 by a team we beat by 10.

Either way, the rankings mean absolutely nothing right now. As long as we keep playing well then that will all take care of itself. Let's remember that most of us thought this team would have 3+ losses at this point in the season.

The fact that we're talking about barely missing be ranked is a minor miracle. Just be happy with this team for what it is and enjoy the ride. Keep expectations low and enjoy the surprises as they happen.
