NIU is apparently taking the Hokies' place as the BCS selection whipping boy, having the temerity to get in based on the rules. ESPN roundly trashing them. I know the ACC needs to stop sucking in bowls, but sure would be great to see them beat FSU.

This is the absolute best case scenario in my opinion. I don't know if I buy that Mike O'cain will retire though, he's not that old.

I was actually kind of upset when I heard the rumors that Stinespring was going to be fired. He is 4th on the list of coaches that need to go and I was worried that's all we would change just to quiet up some of the fans.

I'm much happier with this outcome. Lets hope its true.

...I don't give a flying fig about Orlando. I am far more interested in the Hokies' basketball.

Sorry to be a such a debbie downer, but the football season was over the second the scoreboard hit 00:00 on the clock. What postseason? That is just garbage from ESPN and all the television networks that are going to broadcast the game. It's just one bowl game. If there was a playoff and Virginia Tech was in it, then I'll be interested, but this match up with Rutgers just have 'meh' written all over it.

Sorry, but this is one less Hokies' fan that's going to watch.

Spirt's hub is MCO so if you are willing to deal with our answer to RyanAir I would look there. Flying into FLL and driving to orlando is also an option depending on price. FLL has a ton of flights since Port Canaveral is next door.

.. from the media and the internet are just a fraction of what's really going on. For instance, I think it's a pretty safe bet that nobody in the ACC was taken by surprise when Maryland announced that it was bolting for the Big 10.

When it comes to issues of conference affiliation, all decisions are made at a higher level than athletic director. This means the VT Board of Visitors, the university president, and the governor's office in Richmond. I'm sure Weaver's opinion will be considered, as will Beam er's. But they will have zero input into any actual negotiations with the ACC, the SEC, the Big 12, and/or the Big 10.

I'll probably go - Orlando is a fun trip every couple of years. I do hope some cheaper flights open up - I'd love to fly down the 28th to take off as little work as possible, but cheapest im seeing at the moment is like $230ish a person. I'm out in Williamsburg, but could fly out of Richmond, Newport News or Norfolk. Even Roanoke is the $ is good. Any ideas?

I was at the Rutgers-Louisville game Thursday. We may be weak, but Rutgers is worse.

They are very similar to us. Great defense, terrible offense. But our special teams are much better. Their punter is terrible. Aside from two big plays, their offense was inept the entire night in front of a sellout crowd.

We should be able to beat them.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Richmond is definitely the logical place for him to go. Because if he goes to Richmond, he'll be playing for his uncle, and you know what that means... he'll get to play!! Go family ties!!

Which is really unfortunate for Michael Strauss who has already been beaten out by Rocco before at UVA. Strauss was super clutch this year after our starting QB Laub was injured. He beat #2 ranked JMU (got to go see it, and let me tell you that was a sweet, sweet victory).

Strauss is absolutely the heir apparent for the UR starting QB job... unless Rocco decides to crash the party. And I feel like he will end up doing just that.

But I sincerely hope Rocco chooses another school. UR does not need another UVA hand me down... Thanks but no thanks.
