That's crazy. Too bad someone football smart wont be there. Typically some lady will be asking me to buy a raffle ticket for random Hokie stuff for the scholarship fund...meanwhile it's a huge 3rd down play and she has no idea a game is even on. Don't get me going on that stuff... Maybe tomorrow will be better!

That's the one! I just moved back to Jax about 2 months ago and live about 5 min away, across the bridge off San Jose.

I don't get it. Maybe I'm not current enough to understand.

As for game experience, I haven't been to Lane for five years, so I don't know what is current in gameday experiences. Are other schools installing iPads to the back of each seat? Is there a way to tweet your opinions with #LANESTADIUM and it will get put on the jumbotron?

I also don't understand what anyone can say about outdated play calling... They've installed the cool, hip pistol formation. They run no-huddle and pass 60% of the time. What's outdated? The fact they occasionally run I-formation just like every team in the NFL? Or is it the WR screen, which Percy Harvin gains 50 yards out that play every Sunday?

Oh, I know what's outdated. They only have new uniform changes for 50% of the games, not all of them. That must be it.

Yea, Baylor runs an option based offense, not so advanced for the NFL. So, what did the Redskins do to get RGIII up to NFL speed? They added plays from the Baylor playbook. And look, now he's the 2nd best fantasy QB this year (which means he's pretty good QB).

I'm not that big of fan of VT's offensive sheme, but McShay's comments don't make sense. Can anyone explain to me what he meant?

Unfortunately, I agree. I will be aggressively hoping that we come out and pull the upset but until I see some promising signs tomorrow, I'll have major doubts that we can get it done in Death Valley.

missed the asu pick by 24 hours ... and got it wrong.

Whenever you have somebody phone/Skype in, like Joe and French did today, I can barely hear them. I found myself just zoning out whenever they were speaking because I just couldn't hear.

I think there is some really great commentary, but it doesn't help if we can't hear it. Is there any way to adjust the sound levels for people who call in?

Personally, if he does choose VT (WHICH I PRAY HAPPENS) I hope he doesn't major in engineering. Too demanding of a major for the type of football players I'd like to have. But if he can be a beast at both, more power to him, doubt it though.

Just some observations..

1. EJ Manuel has NFL quality footwork most of the time, which is a big departure from my boy LT3. As a result, EJ almost never sails throws.

2. FSU's kickoff coverage team absolutely obliterates the wedge on every kickoff.

3. Taj is way more athletic and elusive than I remember. He looked fast in space, and slipped out of a ton of tackles.

4. Clemson's offense is 100% dependent on playaction and misdirection. They were not nearly as effective late in the second half in obvious passing situations. Hokies must get up early and stay up, force Clemson to pass, and have our defensive line play pissed off.

5. VT must play zone defense to win this. Our DBs will not win man on man battles vs Clemson's WRs. Also, in man coverage, our DBs will be running all around the field, leaving lots of wide open running lanes for Taj and his new set of wheels. That is the problem - we havn't effectively played zone all year and we won't start tomorrow at noon. Clemson 40's. VT 20's.

The entire secondary has been abused. They NEED help. This is a massive game for us - Lets go!

Is that pub by chance called Shannon's? Because, if so, I live nearby (although I'm at school in Orlando right now).

Describes our program perfectly. From play-calling, to gameday experience, to media exposure, and most importantly - student gameday involvement. It's never been just Beamer - it's the program as a whole.

Granted - the old school approach has brought some serious positives. Shockingly, it's one of the few recruiting pulls we have. Worked for top-notch players like Caleb...

My faith and hope are with Shane Beamer. #Shane2016

Boyd looked a little rattled a couple times when they got pressure in there. So hopefully Maddy and whatever rotation of DE's are in there can keep up the work from last week.

No surprise here.
Question is do you think Coach Beamer would agree?? If someone could help him realize the truth then maybe we might see some realistic changes during the offseason.

That is absurd and makes my head hurt just trying to see how that makes sense to them...

Just sounds a little sexual...I'm sure some old fart alumni will get pissy about it, complain to Weaver, and then he would have to change his name or something. Just like the way Stick It In died...

Like you, I have been wondering all season long why we weren't running more quick-hitters into the line with the OL firing off the ball with a purpose rather than ambling along the line of scrimmage looking for someone to block. I hope it continues vs. Clemson.

Hokiefootball, I couldn't agree more re: Malleck. He should be getting 75-80% of the snaps now as the TE in our regular sets with him and Dunn getting the snaps when we're in our double TE set.

Nothing against Eric Martin personally and I know he's been battling a bad shoulder. But even with a good shoulder he's no better than the the 3rd best TE on the team.

I think just over the past 2 weeks we have seen proof enough that Ryan Malleck should be the starting tight end. He obviously brings much more to the passing game than Martin and seems to have developed into a better blocker than Martin and Dunn. What does everyone think about this? He is the most reliable in the present and is the future of the position... also, who do you think next year will get snaps at TE along with Malleck? Redman or Dakota Jackson?
