just beautiful defense. And great to see Tyrod out there slinging it
So, gotta make up for lost ground.
Oregon - Ducks roll, Todd Graham cries, like when RichRod stole his coaching staff (the ASU vs Zona game should be good this year)
LSU - Honey Badger still dominates this game from Rehab
Ok State - The Men will step up and score loads of points
South Carolina - Last week's game withstanding, this is USC's and Spurrier's year
UNC - Duke's bowl bid will have to wait, at least another week
WVU - Can't Stop Geno Smith
to every person who booed Bryce Harper. He's only 19, he's a kid, nobody should have booed him this year. Oh wait, nobody cared that he's only 19. In fact, that's why everybody did Boo him.
Anyways, most players on the field are 20-23 year olds. Which, by America's laws, are adults. They live on their own. They can vote. They can buy cigarettes and alcohol. They can enlist in the army and fire semi-automatic machine guns in enemy lands. They can go to trial and put in jail for life. Don't tell me these are kids.
I think we're mostly differing on semantics.
When someone says they "don't deserve to be booed," to me it sounds like they're trying to protect the players. I don't think the players need protection. They're adults. In a perfect world, no adult would ever get their feelings hurt. But as an adult, you learn to take criticism. You learn to use criticism to fuel your fire.
I personally think Booing is pointless and dumb. It doesn't really do anything, positive or negative. All it does is give a CROWD something to rally their emotions around. And that's it.
Maybe I misunderstood what Joe and others meant by "don't deserve to be booed." If they meant, no person, no matter the circumstance, deserves booing because it's pointless, then I agree. But if they're suggesting that players don't deserve to be booed because they're not being paid, or that they're "just kids," or that it will hurt their feelings, then I will never agree with that. STOP BABYING COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYERS! (Mike Gundy, I'm looking at you.)
I'm very interested in how this game shakes out. I think it will truly show what we can make out of this season. Even if we lose, I'll be happy if they build on the momentum from the second half of the Duke game. Running the football, getting nasty up front on defense. The things we all expected this team to do in the beginning of the year.
If their defense is as bad as Clemson's people say, then I want to see another 100 yard game for JC. This will open up everything for the offense, and hopefully set the tone for the rest of the season. I'm believe that our defense still has the potential to play how we expected them to, and here's hoping they still have a bitter taste from last year. If the team is going to succeed in the next few weeks, I think it has to start with a statement game in Clemson.
Don't know if this will work as I'm not programming saavy and not really related but its a cool pic of tyrod I just found on facebook/instagram

do a mock up of the following:
maroon jersey w/shoulder stripes and orange shoulder numbers, maroon pants with stripes on the side matching the jersey, maroon socks, maroon undershirts, and the maroon lid?
is great! I love it!
Oregon - Not betting against the Ducks until they play an SEC team. /check
LSU - Betting against a home SEC dog, I'm sure this will end well.
Iowa State - I LOVE THIS TEAM (when they cover).
Florida - BOOM'd
Duke - I think the Blue Devils will at least cover in an amped up atmosphere at night. I'm actually really pumped for this game.
Kansas State - Winning, and winning big.
Fuck Clemson.

Dude I think they know when we're disappointed in them. They're probably more harsh on themselves, hopefully. You gotta think that when they realize that when their fellow Hokies are booing them that it might pile up a little too high. They're technically adults for sure, but barely. Plus they aren't professionals, they CHOSE to be Hokies and we should be thankful. If they aren't pulling their weight then the coaching staff should be the ones to bench them.
I'll be interested in seeing how well we can recruit this year. We clearly need to get some talent to buy off on VT. there'll be some gaps after losing those recruits that might really hurt us next year.
Btw picked to finish 9th in the ACC by Athlon
but they aren't adults..they are 18-22 year old kids
How do you complain? Are we writing letters? What's the proper way that a CROWD can display dissatisfaction with the product they're paying for?
Booing should have no effect on game play. If it does, then the adults playing the game shouldn't be playing. Find another adult who is less fragile.
and the coaches, and anyone else who makes money? How about we boo the attendant at McComas? She gets a cut of the millions of dollars we spend at these games. But we can't boo the players, the ones who are accountable for the play on the field, because they don't make money? I don't get it.
Don't get me wrong, I think booing is way too common and overrated. I don't boo the other team or it's star players during introductions. And, I don't boo the refs when they make a bad call. But I think the babying of college football players is WAY TOO HIGH by football fans. They're adults. They can handle it.
All I'm saying is this: If they can't handle the criticism, then they don't deserve the praise. If a crowd of drunk college students, most of which don't even understand the intricacies of the game, believe the best way to show their frustration with the play on the field is to boo, then so be it. Let them boo.
Of course, a perfect deep throw can result to the WR catching the ball in stride and getting a TD, much like the Danny Coale catch against Nebraska. That pitch-and-catch is pretty rare, even in the NFL. That's why most coaches teach QBs to under throw the deep ball (outside shoulder fade) and let the WR play the ball. The WR gains the advantage on the pass play, no matter where the DB is located. Because WRs are reacting to the ball in the air, they can slow down, stop, and jump to catch the ball at the highest point. On the other hand, the DB must first try and keep up with the WR, then realize the ball is thrown it's way, then must turn 180 degrees against his momentum to make a play on the ball. It's almost always a catch by the WR or a pass interference on the defender. Overthrown deep balls result in nothing.
score more points than them
Never thought I'd say this, but Tony Gregory looks like one of our best between the tackles runner. He gets a bit David Wilson-esque off tackle and tries to make something out of nothing, but he's a blur hitting the hole.
Still see Marcus Davis calling for pass interference way too much. He's bigger and stronger than any CB - go up and make a play instead of looking for flags.
Watching this film did not make me feel any better about our chances vs Clemson. Our offense finally looked crisp. Losing Andrew Miller should be interesting...
Oregon - A line under 10? Keep picking the Ducks.
LSU - This game could be interesting with A&M's offense improving but they haven't proven themselves against a top level team yet. The line is a little scary because LSU's offense is anemic.
Iowa State - Don't know jack about either team but I think Iowa State can keep it within 2 TDs.
South Carolina - Gotta think Florida is due to lose a game, even though SC is coming off a much tougher stretch.
North Carolina - If we can pound Duke after making all the mistakes we did, I have no doubt that UNC will as well. Not like Duke will have any home field advantage anyway.
West Virginia - As much as I hate picking them, I think KState's offense is too run-oriented and deliberate rather than explosive to cause as many problems as Texas Tech did for the WVU defense. WVU's offense should be able to put up some points, though I do think they'll be held in check for most of the game. It's also a long road trip for the Cats and WVU will be looking to bounce back.
