I've noticed over the years that Beamerball is declining, they make a decent amount of mistakes on special teams, the kick off against North Carolina is just a recent example.
I'm willing to bet a lot of teams have a blocked punt and two return touchdowns so far... that stat just doesn't seem impressive to me, especially with VT's record and opponents played.
Try to convince myself I'm dreaming, but then after hitting my head against the wall a fee times and not snapping out of it, I will proceed to become immensely depressed and frustrated at our team's obvious lack of pride, determination, and want-to.

Is it really time for Frank Beamer to go? No, not even close. Weaver obviously won't get rid of him, and if the BOV were to try to force him out (they won't), you can just sit back and watch the Hokie Club donations screech to a halt.
Look, we're having a bad season. They happen, but one hasn't happened around here in 10+ years.
Frank Beamer has a lot of good coaching left in him, and WHEN (not if) the stars align correctly and we win the national championship, I want Beamer on the sideline.
Whoever says beamerball is gone isn't watching the games. We have a blocked punt and two return touchdowns. The only fathomable reason to ever get rid of Beamer (a man that we all are forever in debt to) would be to secure Bud Foster as head coach. VT football IS Beamer and Bud and once that changes it just won't be the same.

If you watch UNCs right tackle he holds and or tackles on almost every snap, it is pretty funny to watch. He seems to be employing the technique of grab outside their shoulder pads and turn them. The funniest part is the one hold he was called for wasn't even close to being his worse.

the big game but i think it's more likely the fact that we're in stiffer competition on this side of the country. we'd smack dab in between big 10 and sec country. we're recruiting against the likes of ohio state, michigan, notre dame, alabama, the florida schools ... the list keeps going
usc absolutely owns the west coast (one reason why their recruiting is ALWAYS so good). the next best programs out there right now are stanford and oregon. couple that with the less stringent academic requirements (comparing oregon to stanford), you can see why
great virginia football players have MANY great options within a 12 hr drive ... not the case for the west coast boys
another reason oregon and oregon state get a lot of their players from outside oregon?? because oregon is not a high school football recruiting hotbed like virginia is...vt doesn't HAVE to go out of state as much as oregon does. we do recruit in the carolinas, georgia, a little bit of florida, a little bit of pennsylvania (we should concentrate more efforts in PA) but the odds of us getting those kids are small usually. we get some here and there but we're not going to go steal 5* kids out of florida, texas, alabama, louisiana every day
I can't figure out which play is my favorite. Eric Martin totally whiffing on a linebacker whose eyes are in the backfield and doesn't even seem to realize someone was attempting to block him while David Wang gets stone-walled by a DE, or Michael Cole getting effectively blocked by a QB after Fuller's ole at the LOS.
I don't know if we're emphasizing enough the blocking issues with the WRs. It looks like UNCs CBs are just staring in the backfield, ready to attack at the first signs of a run, and the WRs either don't bother or don't have a chance to block them. I know our play fakes are lousy, but do we telegraph our run/pass calls that badly at the snap or what? Attacking the edge with the running game like Shane Beamer has stated we want to do will NEVER work if that's the blocking we're getting on the outside.
Compare the efforts of our WRs with the second Michael Cole missed tackle clip and prepare to gouge your eyes out. Bonner starts at the LOS and is absolutely ABUSED by UNC's WR. Show that clip to the WRs because there's no way they should be anything but completely embarrassed, and maybe it would light a fire under their ass.
Regardless, it's incredibly discouraging to watch what appears to be a team severely lacking in coaching and fundamentals and showing minimal toughness, heart, and want to. If anyone's curious as to why this has been a disastrous season, there's your recipe.

And we are going to continue doing these stupid variations on our uniform, let's go ahead and get a helmet that is a bunch of feathers. Clearly sarcasm, but I would love for us to at least use some flat matte maroon helmets. It can go with the #ALLMAROONEVERYTHING.

i think that's overrated in many ways .. nick saban isn't the most personable guy .. hell -- think bobby knight <<< that's the kind of guy we want.
i don't think it has that much to do with his demeanor/non politicially correct attitude. i like that in a coach. i think it has much more to do with his ability (or lack there-of) to recruit and to think like a head coach ... but unless they can go get a pretty big name, i think that bud has earned a shot over some mac/fcs head coach (if he wants a shot). i think that shane beamer getting it (this young) would have red flags all over it. personally, i'd like to steal a good (young) coach away from another fbs team .. fedora is going to turn out to be a hell of a grab for unc i think .. peterson would be a hell of a grab but don't think we'd get him. i think that we have a few more yrs to worry bout this though. cfb has definitely earned himself a couple of off-yrs before people start clammering for his head .. at least a couple.
newsome should go though. his line was pushed around by austin peay at times and is being blown up by every team that we play ... inexcusable << fsu's dline will ABSOLUTELY dominate them at the LOS.
Duke, somewhat understandably, does this too. They would play this weird faux-NFL Films intensity music right up to the snap on 3rd downs.

Yeah, Duke looks good at 5-1 but they've had a light schedule and will probably lose their final six games (VT, UNC, FSU, Clemson, GT, Miami).
I just don't see it happening mid-season, at Lane, on Homecoming.
