I'm absolutely disgusted how this has all turned out as a Tar Heel Alumnus (and recent grad, 2011). I never quite got on the Butch bandwagon like many of my peers (I thought he was a snake at Miami), but I did in turn enjoy the the seasons that were obviously more successful than the ones under Bunting.

I had class with Marvin Austin for one day (he dropped ENGL 101) and I didn't think anything of it. I took a sociology class with half the starting D, who rarely showed up and did not think anything of it. Maybe my ignorance is as much at fault as the administrations, both academic and athletic.

It's troubling watching all of this pan out especially when the Rams Club asks me to donate every month. I will always be a Tar Heel in my heart and am proud to have graduated from Carolina.

I'm pulling for Fedora and Bubba to get our shit in order, but most importantly I'm pulling for the Board of Trustees to oust that sad sack we call our Chancellor. Thorp has to go.

See y'all October 6th

Seriously, I'm so sick of these bros whining and crying about how their needs aren't being met, and how they carry the league. Travel costs? Remeber that time we had the ACC championship games in JACKSONVILLE and TAMPA??? Behind UNC and Duke, this league has bent over backwards for FSU, just so they can shit the bed time and time again. They want to take our best divisional rival and have them for a game? Fine. Just don't be pissed when every ACC Championship becomes the Techmo Bowl. Friggin NoleHoles.

but I call bullshit on that being about travel costs. That's one trip every other year. If he wanted to really save on travel costs, he'd advocate regionalizing the non-revenue sports.

Making FSU-GT a divisional game is about giving his team an extra attractive conference matchup each year that gets decent TV ratings, lets his boosters drive to ATL, and gets GT butts in seats in Tally since they can't sell out by themselves anymore. And it would right royally screw us out of the same, because if you make a one-for-one swap with Maryland, then UVa gets GT as permanent rival.

I f*cking love Logan Thomas.

I think Goforth's comment about Bruce is more of an indication that he doesn't really know what the hell Bruce is doing in SC but trusts him to be ready. "Something tells me"? Honestly makes me a little nervous for the possibility that Bruce shows up to preseason ball in some sort of unexpected shape.

Joe, you surprise me. I'm all for realignment: realign VT into the SEC, move Georgia Tech wherever they want, and exile Boston College to the Big East. Done.

Is he the same president that gave Manchin's daughter a Master's for accomplishing nothing more than being Manchin's daughter? Maybe that kind of stuff is what got them rejected. Have fun travelling 1000 miles each way for conference games Eers. May the Black Diamond gather dust.

We cant let those ghastly Hokies into our revered conference! Their team is nothing but a bunch of entitled thugs and Beamer will be on probation with the NCAA sooner rather than later. They will diminish the good reputation and indeed hurt the whole brand of the ACC. I question the character of a fan who would root for such a program.

LO fucking L UNC

We aren't the a-hole fans that would do that. That attitude is extremely disrespectful to the ACC and all of the teams in it. We shouldn't forget that the ACC has gotten us to where we are now, and, although the future of the ACC isn't looking great, we haven't jumped ship and we aren't positive we will. (don't forget the SEC could not pick up any more teams, FSU and Clemson could stay with the ACC, Notre Dame could join the ACC, an ACC team could win a NC this coming year, etc...too many possibilities to make ASSumptions)

for VT fans to chant the S-E-C, S-E-C? Mizzou thought it was appropriate during the BigXII basketball tournament. I think we're already a little late. We should've chanted S-E-C while in New Orleans, since we replaced an SEC team at the Sugar Bowl. People have said VT has the aura of an SEC team, so we might as well get arrogant and start yelling that shit at everything we go to. It is only a matter time, right?

Of course you want your conference brethren to be respectable but to me thats only to make your team look better. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems to me that the whole conference pissing contest, while its always been there, has really exploded in the last few years.

Personally I usually root for ACC teams in non-conference but I find it especially hard with the Hoos and Ga Tech. I had decided I was gonna root for UVA in the Chicken Bowl this past year but the first shot I saw of 3 dudes with their shirts and ties and white frat hats that are supposed to look all worn but you know they bought like that, I was like "fuck UVA, go Auburn!"

We just get bored without football.

And, although I agree, I have chanted ACC at bowl games (against Tenn.). I was even there with a wahoo who chanted along. And titles are won by teams, but the conference definitely gets some credit.

I agree the major bowls are prestigous "events" They are relevant to money and bragging rights. But in terms of relevancy to determining a National Champion they are history. Prior to the BCS they could impact the voting in the polls for determining the champion. Not any more.

This topic is about a playoff. If teams host playoff games then these bowls will have even less relevancy. They will be fighting for leftovers from conference champions that are not in the playoffs or those that lose in the playoff. The prestige of being invited will fade somewhat since it is a consolation prize compared with competing for the championship.

Attending a bowl game has always been a recognition for having a good year. Although now it seems a mediocre year can lead to a bowl invite. It can be fun to see how the different conferences compare to one another but the match-ups are not always a good comparison. It is nice to travel South in the winter to get away. Getting into a more prestigious bowl (i.e. pays more money) is nice too.

When will the idea of getting excited over a bowl invite pale in comparison to making the playoffs? The bowls will continue promoting their games trying to excite fans. But at some point the playoffs will generate more excitement.

Agree with everything except the Sugar Bowl. That is a big deal as well, and the venue, in my opinion, is pretty sweet just because it's in nawlins. It was a blast doing Let's Go Hokies from the balconies on bourbon street and pregaming from there to the stadium with a fish bowl of liquor around my neck and a 12-pack in hand.
