Kendall would be the best recruit in this class by a mile. He has a legitimate shot at top 10 in the country, depending on how the SEC-plus-OSU-plus-Irish recruiting service politics play out.

Great work everyone. I heart VT!

A Birdie told me a little while ago that it would be FSU-VT on Thursday. It's from a good source, but it hasn't been confirmed by anyone at Tech or the ACC and it's possible things could change. Like StLHokie, it makes a lot of sense.
Also, welcome to the boards!

Now you don't have to play alone.
Thursday game every year. Seeing as it would then either be Duke or FSU, well I think we already know which one its more likely to be. We've played a Thursday night game for every year for like the past 10 years... I woul hope they would set us one up with FSU..
Also, with the new news of a potential BC vs Miami game on Labor day, I think we may not actually be playing GT on the saem night. So there's that option as well..
I bought two boxes of chocolates, one for MRSDOZER and one for myself because I KNOW SHE SURE AS HELL ISNT GETTING ME ANYTHING ON THIS HALLMARK DAY. This post makes my day though.

Seeing that just made my day #teamsingle
Scrolling Faces of SETH FTW!
O’Brien, offensive tackle Max Garcia and linebacker Mario Rowson all intend to transfer, the school said in a release. Since the end of the season, 12 players with eligibility have departed the program; since Edsall took over, the total is 24.

Vanderbilt would have been a logical school for O'Brien to transfer to because of the James Franklin connection, but his release prohibits him from going there. Edsall sounds like a great coach to play for.
That film of Allen didn't impress me. The kid is explosive, and he is huge for a soph (in that tape), but his pad level is absolutely terrible. A good OL can get in his chest and put him on roller skates.
He is pretty close with Manning so I think if VT offers he is all Hokie
We have not offered at this point, but probably will on his visit this month
Is huge for the ACC and UMd. Now, let's keep all the GC stars in the ACC, and bring Fuller in for VT. VT is currently scheduled to play UMd in 2013 and 2014. This should be another good selling point, as Kendall could face Diggs one-on-one (especially in 2014), assuming expansion won't change the future schedule dramatically.
Oh, and how much do the Big East and ACC hate WVU right now? Name one AD in the ACC or Big East that would schedule a game with them, both football and basketball. Happy travels to Texas and Oklahoma.
of travel is for official visits. I am pretty sure anything else is not permitted. I may even be wrong about official visits.
Assistants are leaving BC faster than players from Maryland.
pay their own way for junior day, spring game, and weekends of that sort? Or, can the University provide assistance? It seems that it would be difficult for someone from Miami (or any long distant city) to make that trip without assistance. And going to multiple events would seem to make it very costly for recruits.
Anybody know how this works?
Hopefully this doesn't turn into a Jawand Blue situation.

In addition, he Tweeted he'll be attending the Maroon-White game, "IM GOIN TO BE IN ATTENDENCE AT THE #HOKIES SPRING GAME...," and he added "#HOKIENATION" to his Twitter profile.

Here's an excerpt from an interview Thomas did last June with CanesInsider.
Does Thomas see himself in Coral Gables playing college football? "I could see myself playing for Miami. I grew up a fan, always watched Miami. If UM offers, they would be at the top of my list, hands down."
The Carol City standout talked about what he's looking for in a football program. "I want to play early, but I don't mind earning it. I'll come in and win a spot," Thomas said. "It doesn't matter where I play, I'll go to the school that best fits me."
Thomas mentioned his strengths at wideout are, "my speed and the way I attack the ball in the air. I'm working on my focus, concentrating on catching the ball and looking it in. I'm also working to get better at getting off jams."
Of note, Thomas has an interesting family tree. "UM commit Levonte Whitfield and Marvin Bracy are my cousins, and our goal is to go to school together at the University of Miami ever since we were young."
It appears as if he's changed his mind.
The Hokies have offered him.

of stallions here...When are we gonna be known as RBU too? If RMFW can get his groove back post injury, Evans can make the most of his recent reserve contract, and David Wilson makes a splash...our recruiting is only going to get better.
I love how we reload at this position.
With the depth we have on the line I was wondering how much flexibility we have with our DE's. I know J.R. Collins had to sub into the DT role last year as injuries arose. However, looking at a defense like Bama's it seems as though they turn some of their DE into a hybrid LB in some cases for run support. Im totally ignorant about this but think it makes sense in some sense in stopping the run. Anyone care to explain further?

I would rather have a population of statistically superior athletes than not. It still requires coaching, committed athletes who reach, or exceed, their potential, and teamwork. I think VT's current chances of winning a NC are similar to an FCS school beating a top 10 FBS school. It could happen if every thing falls in place and with some luck. We can be competitive with everyone but the odds are long. I am not saying we are like an FCS school. I am saying there is a significant difference between a top 5 team and a top 10-15 team.
I want more but gladly accept our current status because it is very near the top. Well above average and consistently so. Waiting on that magical year to happen. I will know it when I see it.
AMENDMENT:
Thinking about Jeremy Lin and the Knicks. Maybe there is more to it. Maybe the coaches can find enough talent hidden in plain sight to make a great team that goes all the way. Sometimes undersized, underappreciated guys outperform the "stars". That is CFB's personality and the character of Hokie football. When we do land some of those stars the rest of the team is always there to support. But will the Knicks win the NBA title with their new star? Only time will tell. It does take a team. Keep believing.
