I volunteer to have a totally NCAA-compliant conversation with Korren Kirvin re: Virginia Tech > Tennessee. Pun not originally intended but now very much is intended. The bottom line is that Tennessee is at the bottom of the SEC barrel, has been since I arrived on it's campus in 2007, and shows no signs of improving. Why go get your ass beat every week in the Allergy Capital of America when you could beat ass in the mountains of Virginee???

J.C. Coleman is on my list of potential favorite players. Love his passion, and I think he and Shane Beamer will be BFFles. And his, uh, stylistic flare reminds me of my baby daddy. Definitely very excited to see this kid as a Hokie, both on and off the field.

Tickets to the Cincy game could come with a side of syphilis and I'd still deplete my savings to go. I don't really give a shit about Cincy, but I love a game that doesn't involve the 4 hour drive down 81 on a Friday after work. The entire ESQ family will be in attendance, and it will be BroESQ's first Tech game (I know, worst sister evar). He went to Sakerlina and is accustomed to high douche and dirty whore quotients.

Does anyone know if kirven's announcement will be broadcasted over the web or on television? I know you the other 2 are, but was wondering about kirven.

I plan on going to the game, but I did not plan on paying $65 a piece for me and my step-dad to go. $50 or less please, VT Athletic Department. Oh wait, this is the same athletic department that charges its kids for tickets when almost every other school in the ACC gives its students tickets for free.

Will go if I can get a ticket for $50 or less. My hope is they (FedEx/Skins) give away a lot of the tickets to season ticket holders and they dump them for cheap. I just hope VT doesn't get stuck taking a loss on tickets like the bowls. No one in their right mind should be buying tickets from VT at those prices.

The thought of prices STARTING at $65 for Cincy is laughable. I'm looking at my tear-stained ticket from FedEx/Boise, 2010. Choice seat, lower level, $85. Still high, but -hey- at least it was against a team that garnered national interest. Name Cincinnati's starting QB. Go ahead. If you said "Zach Collaros", you either (1) were drunk and alone on New Year's Eve as you idly watched the AutoZone Liberty Bowl whilst trying to figure out your life, or (2) a liar. No one cares about Cincinnati. People who attended UC don't care about Cincinnati. The Cincinnati players' mothers don't care about Cincinnati.

It speaks to our style of play when most Hokie fans get equally as excited for top defensive recruits. Barring the possibility of obtaining Joel Caleb I think Edmunds is my favorite get from this class. I'm not going to tout his immediate impact compared to Tweedy. I definitely have enjoyed Tweedy when healthy. Nonetheless, the future looks bright with this class as a whole.

Unfortunately I couldn't make the Nebraska game but watched it on tv at my watering hole in NY- still one of the most enjoyable experiences watching a football game. Oh and the bar is nice too.

we just changed our offer from a greyshirt offer to a regular offer...hopefully that's enough to keep him!

Yay for us being at the Nebraska game..boo for us being in the monsoon :( ...That is why I always FREAK OUT and sit down whenEVER they play "Enter Sandman" twice.

With the lesser known guys I always try to figure out what type of team they're coming from. It seems like Nation Ford had been struggling for a while, but had a great year in 2011.

But everyone involved with the Nation Ford football program insists this year is different, that this year will be the year it breaks the mold and does something the second half of the season. New coach Michael Allen gets animated when talking about the "all in" philosophy he's trying to instill, and the changes he's seeing.

"To be honest, there's a couple of big differences around here," Allen said. "Number one, our senior leadership is stronger than it's ever been. There's also a huge difference in toughness around here, and I mean physical toughness, mental toughness and emotional toughness.

Here's hoping Sturdivant turns out to be another great find by the coaches.

Gotta say first I don't get to make many trips back to Blacksburg since I moved up to New York; however, I was fortunate enough (thanks to my girlfriend) to get tickets to both games. In terms of entertainment value, I had more fun purely as a spectator at the Miami game than I've had since the Nebraska game from 2009. Honestly one of the best fourth quarters offensively I have ever watched in any sport period by both teams. Though I still hate Miami, the way they kept taking our haymakers made me gain more respect for them and Al Golden as the game progressed though their fans seriously made me question that progression- boy was it sweet to see them, not the Miami players who played their hearts out, crying as they covered their ears when Enter Sandman came on after Tweedy blasted Miller to end the game in regulation. I haven't seen Lane like that since '07 when "He Who Must Not Be Named" led the miracle comeback in the monsoon at Lane. The volume of Lane matched up which was shocking and awe inspiring. Plus that was Logan's coming out party against one of the better defensive secondaries around. He looked like an all-ACC QB that day boys and girls.

In terms of the UNC game, I felt playing in those conditions the team responded incredibly well to an early gut check by UNC particularly the goal line stand where Hopkins forced a fumble. Some said it was ugly but I thought that game was beautiful because of how the team responded. Plus sitting two rows behind the Corps of Cadets in the south endzone with hand warmers didn't hurt the evening either. Plus the offense was able to counter UNC's stout d-line incredibly well. When the o-line handled them in the third quarter, I thought that was some of the best line play I've seen since becoming a VT fan back in 2003: both were great for their own particular reasons.

OF course, my least favorite games were the Clemson debacles and also ECU. I hated our performance but we got the 'w.' Unlike many I loved the Sugar Bowl minus the mistakes and the results. That, to me, showed the potential this team has moving forward. LET'S GO HOKIES!

It wouldn't be Tech without one Fuller in uniform.

Has a really polished form for a HS kicker. Good motion, outstanding distance. This kid may break some VT records. I really hope Branthover gets his consistency issue resolved. I would like to have a kicking dream team again.

So Bucky would be a huge get, but I can't possibly be the only one who really really wants another Fuller in orange and maroon for 4 years.

That's amazing about the figures a high school; however, if Frankenator and his diabolical apprentice Shane can plant some roots there for VT with Abbot then we could have another small pipeline like we do in Delray Beach. The more Florida players on our roster and away from Miami the better.

is a serious football school in Jacksonville. Their coach is the all time winningest coach in Florida. It is also extremely expensive for $15,500 a year without boarding and $32,500 a year with it . That was last year, I heard this year with board has gone up to 40k.

IF we are going to schedule an ACC contest to kick-start the season, than I would prefer it to be GT over any other opponent. I am not going to reiterate what has been mentioned before regarding the advantages of having ALL offseason to prepare for the triple option. As much as it will help, defensive preparedness will not be able to make up for having to settle a new offensive line, or prepare any of our running backs (and I'm going to assume that Coleman and Holmes will be getting a majority of the carries at the start of the season) for pass protection.

The fact it's a night game at HOME does go a long way to placate my reservations about all the uncertainties that come with the beginning of the season. What happened in 2005 in Raleigh is something that Weaver should ensure never happens again. Neutral site games against high-profile opponents have their place in generating exposure for the program, but looking back, that was a typical lose-lose situation for us: nasty environment, against a great defense (State lined up Mario Williams and Manny Lawson, two NFL first rounders, in their front 7). Yeah, we wound up winning, but we needed Marcus Vick to play lights out in his first collegiate start and a last second interception from Aaron Rouse to seal a victory (his second of the game).

Also, does Tech need to keep Austin Peay on the schedule? I don't ask this because I'm afraid of some sort of JMU redux. That won't happen again. It just seems unnecessary. If the athletic department is so concerned about make sure it's bringing in the revenue generated by another home game, is there any way to schedule a different opponent (or hell, keep AP) during one of the other bye weeks? Why subject the team to two games in less than a week?
