If we got them all, it would be huge -- maybe the best recruiting class at VT EVER .. I dig around quite a bit and wont pay for the subscriptions either .. Recruiting info is hard to come by. That's for sure. Having Shane Beamer has obviously helped in MAJOR ways. I think that if VT made Stinespring strictly a recruiter and hired a higher profile OC, it would be a huge plus in both areas (Stinespring is a hell of a recruiter). My take on remaining prospects are below (maybe a bit too optimistic). It's pretty obvious where VT's major recruiting shortcomings are: on the line (especially the O-line).

Kirven: 90% chance -- He's been a VT lean all along .. He's a Brookville boy

Ekanem: 75% chance -- seems like ND is his only other serious contender and I just don't see it .. a LB should wanna play at VT

Caleb: 60% chance -- I think he still goes to VT but OSU making a big push too .. in the end, OSU already has too many weapons and Caleb holds out too late for a spot **EDIT** plus OSU just got slammed with the sanctions .. up this to 75%

Jones: 40% -- I think he goes to Bama but supposedly he is a good friend of JC Coleman .. if he wants to be a CB, there is no better place to play than VT. If he wants to be a WR and they want him to, he will play early and often. Plus, he'll get lost in the shuffle and won't get a lot of playing time for a few years **EDIT** sounds like he's officially cut out OSU .. from what I've read, he didn't even make his official there so its down to VT, Auburn, Bama .. With Auburn's weak D and OC gone to Arky St -- don't see Auburn happening .. think it's down to Bama and VT -- I gotta good feeling about this .. He'd get lost in the pack at Bama .. not at VT --- but we'll see

Diggs: 1% -- no chance really and from what I've heard about the guy, he's a bit of a premadonna and VT has stopped recruiting him altogether .. but never say never

Another player that I think we have an outside shot at is Darius Hamilton (from NJ) -- Apparently, his grandmother/grandparents live around (Lynchburg maybe?) .. I think that VT is on his short list but probably at the bottom

1. Thanks for posting this. It made my Christmas morning that much better.
2. Can we use a time machine to go into the past, grab Kevin Jones, fly him to the present, and put him on this team with DMFW? That'd be nice...

I loved that Miami 2003 game, it was a perfect moment in a disappointing season. I'd even relive everything about it even the loss before to WVU, the bad season, and the experience of me and my roommate in Lane putting up signs we would do anything for tickets. Being in North Endzone was magical that night.

Hope we can get a big defining win against Michigan.

All I want for Christmas is a Sugar Bowl win

Anyone want to provide me with a Sugar Bowl package?

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night

Merry Christmas from my family to everyone at The Key Play.

I think the majority of commenters here have sharp football minds, and when they need to be critical, they do it in an intelligent manner. I love that, y'all are the best.

so have we decided that we are trying to meet up January 2nd? That seems to be the consensus, no?

My brother in law started at Tech this fall and was invited to practice with the team this spring. I think I might have to throw together a hype video for him, haha. I think he is well rounded in all 3 kicks. I'm sure Beamer will be giving everyone a fair look this spring. He was 2nd team all state and played for the 2010 state champs, Battlefield. For now, check out some of his highschool highlights:

Good points RaleighBlue- I wasn't implying that UM hasn't faced a mobile QB this year- far from it because now many schools do employ the mobile QB philosophy. Just pointing out that LT3 has the ability to be a fierce, physical, and a deceptively fast runner. He's the second (?) largest QB in FBS and that size alone makes him tough to bring down when running (UM defenders are smart though- will get after him around the legs) and does have another gear- just doesn't really "look like it" on film. That's all. Oddly enough after the way Clemson defended the in the second half of the ACC Championship Game the entire offense worries me personally as a VT fan- that and containing Denard.

His passing has really progressed in just one season- much more so than I would've ever thought. That match-up (LT3 vs UM's DB's) will be a very good one I think and will provide some highlights. I really am looking forward to that and how our linebackers/ends play Denard. He can make a defense look silly and forces them to stay disciplined even when the play breaks down.

this is a wake up call for a young kid who made some bad decisions. I think this spring we will be talking a lot about who will be kicking, and there is a pretty good shot that the young lady who tried out this year will be one of the ones we will be talking about.

There is nothing positive to say about this. How idiotic do you have to be to risk a full ride scholarship and a chance to play college football over illegal drugs? If he is stupid enough to take part in this event, he doesn't deserve to play football at Virginia Tech.
As for kicking, hopefully we don't have too many 4th downs, and if we do, I hope they are short enough for LT3 to gain.

Looks like Zo Hud and company threw hands on Journell and his boys. Really have no words for this. Sugar Bowl commentators will have a field day with this and it makes VT look bad. smh

I live in Hokie country and I've seen them play several times this year. While we may not have faced a "mobile QB the size of Thomas", we've faced several better (all around) "mobile QBs". Wilson doesn't frighten me either... The only thing that would frighten me about the VT run game is if we sell out to stop it and get burnt through the air because of it (see OSU). I don't see that being the game plan. The only reason we did it against OSU was because of how abysmal their pass game had looked up to that point and all of their weapons seemed to be in the run game. I think VT is a more balanced offense and they'll see a more balanced D.
