That is my all time favorite entrance. And what a game it was!

I think the ol' Bruce Smith pic from earlier exemplifies how badass #ALLMAROONEVERYTHING is. We're not Oregon or Gawgia. We had those cool black uni's for the Boise State game, but through it all nothing spells out the gritty, hard nosed type football were all so accustom to like Chicago Maroon head-to-toe.

Coming out of the tunnel has got got to get your blood pumping. The All Maroons have my vote.

the 2003 Miami game was amazing and those all Maroon jerseys were really tight for it

That's good to know for sure. Even though sometimes size alone can get you a lot of attention at a Summer Camp. But hey, size is a good thing. Since he will be on the OL (for now at least) it will be nice to see how West End treats him, and vice-versa. With a 6'6 frame he has the ability to be a solid 300 pound blocking machine. Get him rolling on some Old Hickory Burgers and he will be there in no time.

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Im ready to /Hand Grenade til I cant Hand Grenade no mo'. DM me for cell # exchanges. Word!

Best Hokies blog out there bar none. I have been reading for a few months now. I'm an '01 alum.

Circumstance has it that I will be watching the game with a few good friends, two of whom happen to be Boise State and Michigan alums. I have already heard more than enough about why their teams belong and VT does not. In order to have the final word, I intend to compile two lists to be distributed pre-game. First list is "Why they don't belong in the Sugar Bowl" and will have an interesting fact about either Michigan or Boise. Second list is "Why we do belong in the Sugar Bowl". Anyone willing to throw out a few suggestions for either list? Here are a few that I already have:

Why they don't belong:
1. Won 11 games in 2011, but the last 10 were against teams that a) were not ranked in the Top 25 and b) had a combined record vs. Top 25 teams of 0-15 (Boise)
2. Missed their conference championship game because they lost to their biggest in-state rival 28-14 (Michigan)

Why we do belong:
1. Made our conference championship game because we defeated our biggest in-state rival 38-0

It's hard for me to get too excited about any player coming out of this conference. I noticed that Blessed Sacrament had a few players on the 1st and 2nd team. Congrats to those guys, but in all reality if your Varsity football team has to pull players from 8-12th grade to fill the team (as do many of their opponents) I don't see them having a huge impact at a D-1 School. Don't get my wrong, there are diamonds in the rough. Kyle Jolly played at BSH then went on to UNC and is now in the NFL. Hopefully Conte is one of those rare finds. I am just pointing out that a 270 pound kid should be able to destroy a 190 pound sophomore lineman with ease all day long... so a lot of the stats are heavily padded.

But, I have seen a lot of these games and I just don't see why coaches would recruit some of these schools as heavily as they do. Conte is from the same county I went to High School. Hope the best for him!

Before they announced it, IF the result was a rematch. #1 Michigan was not allowed to play #2 Ohio in the title game in 2006 after we lost a close game in Ohio the morning after our football godfather, Bo Schembechler died. This was the last game of the season. It came after much lobbying from the SEC. So . . . yeah not going to watch that.

They're not even worthy of a MascotMockâ„¢

I understand 1-AA, but bottom of the barrell 1-AA? C'mon Weaver

I'm sure plenty of FCS schools would want to play us but it's not like VT could just have their pick of anyone they want. Other teams are tied up/don't want to play us/whatever reason.

That said, if someone like JMU or were available and wanted to play, then this was a boring choice.

At least playing Appalachian St or any FCS team from VA provided intrigue.

Let's hope it's a good enough scrimmage so the rebuilt offensive line and the incoming RBs get good reps. They'll need it...

I want JMU again. because we will annihilate them and it will make me feel better. Austin Peay is a poor choice of scheduling.

Ok after living in Jacksonville for 7 yrs and most likely moving back next year, I really hope they don't suck it up on this one. I have way too many friends down there that will give me grief for years if we somehow drop this one...

It's hilarious that they removed this masterpiece, but also sad for those (jmichons above) that didn't get a chance to see it. Those hoos were straight up gangsta!

Once again, TTB has put up another preview here:

http://touchthebanner.blogspot.com/2011/12/wide-receiver-preview-michigan-vs.html

The skinny:

Boykin and Coale offer a less explosive but more consistent pairing than do Hemingway and Roundtree.  Michigan's early struggles in the passing game meant that the receivers didn't get much of a chance to catch the ball, because it was either horribly thrown or Robinson was running the ball.  Hemingway, Roundtree, and even the 5'8" Jeremy Gallon were thrown plenty of jump balls and came down with their fair share, leading to the former two's averages of 19+ yards per catch.  All three have shown the ability to run after the catch, but they don't get many chances to do so.  Meanwhile, Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas has been more consistent this season and has thrown the ball 389 times (compared to Denard Robinson's 237 attempts).  That's why Boykin and Coale have caught more passes (109 total) than Michigan's entire wide receiver group (103).
Advantage: Virginia Tech

To me it is much less about the receivers than it is about Denard. Denard was terrible passer for a few games this year. That has really changed. He was fighting a nasty staph infection in his throwing hand and arm that adversely affected his play. I think this is a push. Make sure you take in all of TTB's offerings, I'll update them here as I stumble across them.

UVA will be seeing lots of blue and orange, but it isn't going to be there fans wearing those colors.

Also one of the worst made videos I've seen. Doing lots of Broadcast and Video Production stuff throughout my life, they broke almost every rule out there. So bad.

Nice writeup DavidWilsonsWhip- I will never forget this game for a few reasons, one of them being I won a free hat and sunglasses at a bar from CBS for answering one out of three questions correctly about VT football history (All-Americans- listed three). I will also remember this game as a hard fought, tough it out win: though the stats weren't good....well, lets be honest they were god awful, this showed the real toughness of this team that has epitomized their season. Plus our o-line looked like a pissed off bull in a china shop on those two touchdown drives. ECU's d-line had absolutely no response when they got off the ball.
